Just catching up on the past 2 weeks (after a whirlwind Paris > London > Toronto > back to NYC trip and something like 15 Olympic sessions!) and here are some reactions I hadn't yet seen posted here -

(This is the former leader of Canada's Conservative Party, whom I would normally never retweet, but making an exception here. Point being - with this, and similar notes from Justin Trudeau, Mitt Romney, Amy Klobuchar (both US senators and former presidential candidates), Karine Jean-Pierre (White House spokesperson), Marc Garneau (astronaut-turned-politician)... further goes to show Celine is such a unifying force. Beloved across the political spectrum.)

I'd love to see Celine sing some Ron Sexsmith songs. Nice to know he's a fan, too (in the replies in the thread he later calls it "fantastic" and "beautiful" and says he's afraid to watch the doc...)

Tell me about it. The dutch fan account has been shut down 2 times already.

They are very strict, and at the same the original posts are still there. So I don't know how they work. But it's annoying that you can't watch this epic performance.

Definitely a missed opportunity in choosing not to release Celine’s Hymne a L’amour to streaming, would’ve generated a lot of interest for sure!

Yes, and Forbes clearly has a Céline fan on staff. They publish an article every time she makes some sort of chart appearance, even tangential, as is the case here.

It seems that we hear a lot of Celine's music these days especially at the Olympics. Tonight im watching tennis from Toronto and we just heard MHWGO playing in the background! Always cool to hear Celine!

Apparently Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and the Red Hot Chili Peppers have been confirmed to perform during the closing ceremony this Sunday.

 

Hopefully they will then release all the perfomed songs during the Olympics on streaming platforms afterwards 🤞🤞🤞

Finally gotten round to screen recording her Opening Ceremony performance from BBC iPlayer before it disappears from there as well and after listening back several times while cropping the video down, I’ve noticed you can definitely hear two voices at the beginning of the song. It’s obvious as slightly out of time so I do think she perhaps intended on singing over the backing track but it’s really only at the easier range of the song, once the “money” notes kick in you can then only hear the backing track.

 

Just thought it worth mentioning, of course there could have been a sound issue with the BBC broadcasting, which may also be feasible.

Over and over again...non stop I have read the same comments.

 

nothing will be able to make this magnificent performance have anything negative to say about it.

the world has heard, has seen, has felt. Céline and the rest of us "the world" have had an unforgettable experience.

Per usual, rehashin stuff we’ve had for decades, completely ignoring what we ACTUALLY want. And not just us Céline fans, but the broader public, as evidenced by Celine’s Paris performance and the reaction to it.

 

They have more than 3000 hours of rare footages... This is what they propose to us... They like to laugh at us. They even did not us the footage of Stade de France in 1999 or the Millenium concert...

The timing does make me hopeful.

They may have created the playlist specifically because they're getting ready to add the Olympics performance to it. Probably right after the closing ceremony.

 

Or it's just another one of those random TC things 🙃
