If Lady Gaga can upload it, then it's definitely not the "copyright" problem.

 

I don’t know the exact copyright holders of both songs, but you can not compare them just because they were featured in the opening ceremony. Composer, lyricist, publishing company, a Piaf legacy foundation… it might be a lot more complicated to get it cleared for online publishing.

 

I really hate it though, it would’ve been insane if it was on socials and streaming services right after the performance.

I didn't know. Voilà. For me it's too easy to say "come on, everybody knows. No need to talk about it". I have friends who still think that she was singing live. And also, Victor Le Masne lied about Céline singing live. It's disrespectful.

I totally agree, Victor Le Masne threw oil on the fire by shamlessly lying when pretending Celine sang live despite the fact she was clearly lip-synching and then things escalated out of control.

Thank you but no. Discussions about Céline's performance do not belong to another topic. It's not off-topic at all. In fact, it is the very matter of the topic. Why the need to censor people by telling them to write what you don't like in another topic?

Knowing how the performance was made makes me enjoy the performance even more. It is not sucking the joy out of me at all, on the contrary. Everyone has her/his own way of enjoying things and is entitled to express it in her/his own way.

Love seeing this. Wish TC filmed the entire job, from Céline practicing at home to fittings, recording, rehearsals, travel to venue, prepping for the performance, everything BTS up until she went back to the hotel room to relax. Even just casual short reels of every step, like a diary, that they can release now that the event's over.

Putting make up. I am saw someone before they do this. They put make up on their hands/fingers maybe they’re concealing something. Like her previous interviews where we can see her fingers like they’re wounds

Some instagram pages keep getting blocked because they posted videos of this performance.

 

Even the rehearsal video got deleted by the IOC, same goes for the acapella video from Voceux.Voceux

 

Though on some pages they are still there, so it feels a bit random what they be doing there.

It's a shame this performance can't be witnessed everywhere for everyone.

They should have dealt with this stuff before the performance took place, so that the video and song immediately could be released.

 

You would think there are people who get paid for these ideas right?!

Saw the dress at Galerie Dior yesterday. A bit disappointing because you can’t get too close to see the detail. The Aya Nakamura and Gaga dresses were a bit closer and seemed more impressive tbh. Still cool to see though.

And plugged her Delola cocktails the entire time; then shop it for its Broadway adaptation later on lol

 

You'd think Céline would have had the upper-hand to muscle and demand any and all copyright concerns (which would cost IOC money) so TC can max the performance in their own channels being the pièce de résistance of the Opening Ceremony ... maybe she/her reps couldn't or weren't aggressive on that matter since her appearance was on a (medical) contingent basis. Bargaining chips would probably have had IOC footing all her expenses even if she/her team decided she would/could not perform 30 mins before her stage appearance.

 

I just remembered the I Am Celine Dion interviewer who gifted her an Eiffel Tower... she must've have been gleefully cackling on the inside as she couldn't share the news with the interviewer that she would actually be dominating that tower in a few weeks lol

I can't read that "discussion" no more!!! The whole world praises her performance - and the only people analyzing and arguing are people in a Fanforum or those who call themselves "fans". In my opinion, those are NO fans! Only people who always want MORE! Nothing is ever enough! Very sad!
