I hate her FrEnglish pronunciation in "Plus Qu'ailleurs". So annoying.

Ailleure : aillhhheure

Reves: Rhhève

Alors: Alhhor

Encore Enchoeure

Meme: Mheme

Coeur: Cohheur

Regard: Reghhard

Quelque part : Qhelkque pêrt

She's fuelling her impersonators.

Jean-Jacques would have never allowed that if he would have been there in studio.

Je nous Veux is really good. Listening to it for time 2, I'm hearing the melismas. I really love it, the key change is amazing. What can't this woman do? :wub2:

I didn't know love until they loved me back to life because somebody loves somebody!

I woke up at 2am to find my Google Play copy had downloaded and it took all my might to force myself to go back to bed and not listen until the morning (I have a ton of crap going on at work and I needed sleep :pinch: )

I listened once through this morning and overall I love the album, my stand out songs so far are:

-Les yeux au ciel (so catchy and fun... I wish it was longer!)

-L'étoile

-A vous (love the dance feel)

-Toutes ces choses (so beautiful!)

Really though I love all the songs! Plus qu'ailleurs is the only one that I think will take some time to grow on me... I need to look at the lyrics to really gauge my feelings on it. Without knowing what she's saying the song is pretty bland.

I'll give a more thorough review after I listen a few more times, I'm just so happy to finally have this album! It's been a long time coming!

As much as it pains me to say this, but I have to join the small minority here who is less impressed with the album.

'Encore un soir' is of course great, ALPHB is very poetic despite a rather weak chorus, 'Toutes ces choses' is touching and I appreciate the subtle charm of 'Plus qu'ailleurs', but the rest is unfortunately less pleasant to my ears.

The songs by Zaho sound as cheap and banal as I had feared - and they will sound oldfashioned in only a few years. The same applies to 'L'etoile' and 'Les yeux auc ciel'. These songs are on the level of 'Rain, Tax' from ANDHC, and it is a real pity that such weak material has found its way on one of Celine's French albums.

'Le bonheur en face' is 'I believe in you', version 2, and is as predictable and boring. And 'Je nous veux' equally ressembles a song from, as someone wrote somewhere (can't remember), a bad French musical.

I will listen a few more times, hoping strongly that this will grow on me, but I am not that optimistic. Been a fan for ages, and this is the first French album I feel so badly about.

After listening once more, with a bit more calm and focus, I think the real problem of this album are the three songs with which Mutine were involved. I mean, the songs by Zaho are formulaic and quite insipid, but I see how they may appeal to listeners who like this kind of music. But the three songs by Mutine are horrible IMO - so horrible, I had to google who the hell they are. They worked for Tal, Jennifer... I rest my case.

On a more positive note, 'Toutes ces choses' is most certainly a gem and 'Je nous veux' could be a grower for me, despite its rather simple lyrics. And 'Si c'etait a refaire', which initially hasn't impressed me, is very nice, especially thanks to the lyrics.

I guess I will rearrange the tracklist on my player: throw out the Mutine garbage, put in 'Ma Force' and perhaps even 'A vous' :). Unfortunately, I won't be able to do this on the vinyl...

Flight delayed so had two more listens of the full album. Big turnaround for me is Je Nous Veux. Wasn't sure at first.

Well well ..... My impression of this album ? I now understand why pop music is oftenly called "easy listening" !!!

I couldn't listen it more than once. It's now playing just to make some noise background in the house.

I cannot say it's bad. It's just like all the albums that play now on radio. NO difference between Celine and all the new generation of female singers. Celine is not the special singer as she used to be ( i do not talk about vocal qualities). I have to admit I was afraid of these Zaho stuff ( this singer makes me sick just seeing her) but it 's in the mood of this album and has its place.

And my god how easy are the lyrics !!!!! For french songs, lyrics are more important than music and even Cabrel song should have deserved to be better..

A vous = Je ne vous oublie pas

Toutes ces choses = Le Bonheur en face = Le Miracle

Come on, could we have something else than " My family, my children, the most important things are in unsignificant details". Even though I am not big fan of the songs I appreciate that Céline went into new topics like suicide ( A la Plus Haute Branche) , communication with growing up teens etc. A singer is allow to sing topics that are not reflecting its own life !!!!

I am loving the new album so far. I've only listen to three songs and it's off to a promising start. Can't wait to weigh in a little bit later.

But I really hope she does better than Britney on the charts. But that might be stretching it a little since this is a french album.

Excellent observation, I like that comparison. One Heart has in my eyes a few very good, almost acoustic, stripped-back songs - just like EUS. And One Heart has many of this 'pop stuff' which is as 'light weight' today as it was then.

We all know that big sales are the result of commercial hype and not quality !!

Because she does not have to prove anything to anyone she should focus on quality eventhough we will have to wait 10 years for a new album

I'm only on Ma Faille and I am in love so so so much. Isn't this album amazing?! There's like 10 other songs. Not listening to previews did wonders. Didn't know what to expect and was amazed!!!

Hope it does the same wonders to me when I listen...

Hope it arrives by Wednesday to me :hmm: Still amazed that some Spanish fans could find the deluxe edition in Fnac Barcelona and some others didn't, in the same city. And the rest of the country, no luck so far

I don't fully agree with but i see your point.

But after listening to the album you realize that Jean-Jacques Goldman is a GOD and Celine is a goddess that got so lucky to find him and kept him for herself for more than a decade...

Yes, but luckily we probably don't have to wait 10 years for the next english album though.

Okay so three things I'm really looking forward to now, judging by your comments:

Tu sauras, must be really a good song :)

That several of you have said that the album flows well and with coherence.

That several more said it's better than Sans attendre (well, a couple of you said you still like more SA anyway)

And...

That some have already compared it to the songs in 1f&4t and ANDHC, my favourite French and English albums of Céline. That really sounds so good to me

This album risks becoming my favourite French album... :w00t:

I will post more details soon but this album is extraordinary. There are so many single materials that I'm just afraid they will not pick the right one.

Celine sounds FRESH, YOUNG and.... full of life. This is just extraordinary...

This is what's getting on my nerves now. Knowing that we both share ANDHC and 1f&4t as favourite albums, I can assume now that probably I'm going to like this album overall? ^_^

He explained many times in France that he had a small package of songs to Celine. He says he has already written everything he could for Celine. That's why he wasn't the only one who works on 1F4T. He didn't have the capacity to write an all new album just for Celine, he needed some help.

Maybe she's keeping those songs for next albums. You know, having JJG is like having a guarantee seal on her CDs, so maybe she'll throw in one more song of him in the next couple of albums :P

but it was said at the early stages of the album that he contributed with 3 songs.... :hmm:

And what a masterpiece work they made :in_love: What a chef-d'œuvre it was!

The problem with the Zaho songs is that Zaho thought of herself singing those songs; so Celine was imitating her voice in a weird unoriginal way; plus Zaho is very formulaic and has little to no originality as an artist.

Just finally realized what A la plus haute branche was about... 😢

That was deep and very "graphic"... Very touching :(

Was placing the uptempo song "A vous" right after that song a right thing to do though?

I don't even know who Zaho is, never heard of her, so for me, it's all Celine.
