CelinesDIVO5 Posted August 26, 2016 at 05:24 PM Posted August 26, 2016 at 05:24 PM I just listened to the album in full for the first time, and I have to say, overall I love it. There were only 2 songs that were just "eh" to me, but I wouldn't skip them on a full album listen as to not screw up the overall flow of the album. Of course I'm basing my thoughts on the music and her voice as I don't understand the words. The album flows beautifully from track 1 to track 12. I'll do a track by track review later, but as of right now...I'm still obsessed with "Ma faille." I love the production, her voice...and in the last chorus, that delayed beat behind her voice is amazing!!! As of right now, the album as an 8/10 for me. Fabulous! 6 Quote https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL54qnRGM2gMatthew Charles - "Fix You" - Live at The Stonewall InnStonewall Sensation - Season 15Originally written and performed by Coldplay

LukeD Posted August 26, 2016 at 05:56 PM Posted August 26, 2016 at 05:56 PM (edited) The potential singles and my thoughts about them: 1.Ma Faille - This is possibly the safest choice for a second single. It is a ballad, sounds modern and represents the Zaho songs which are a strong part of the album. 2.Je Nous Veux - Based on lyrical content it is the closest song to Encore Un Soir, it pairs very well with it. Could surely work as a local single in Quebec. 3.Les Yeux Au Ciel - Nice and catchy. But I think it should not be the second single because its theme does not appeal to a wide audience. 4.Si C'etait A Refaire - J.Veneruso is responsible for most Celine hits the past 15 years. Already stood out on French i-tunes. A good final single IMO. 5.Tu Sauras - A possible final single as well. It is catchy and different, just not representative of the album as it is the only dance track of the Standard Edition. I love all remaining songs, but I do not see their single potential and will be very surprised to see them released over the songs above. Edited August 26, 2016 at 06:18 PM by LukeD 2 Quote

tomier Posted August 26, 2016 at 06:05 PM Posted August 26, 2016 at 06:05 PM (edited) I guess if we don't have a separate topic for our ratings i can post here for now, After several plays I think I have a good idea on how I feel about everything together. All-in-all I LOVE this album. And I completely disagree with those saying she is trying to sound too modern, there are a few songs, even parts of songs that hint "new, modern" but nothing even close to those from LMBTL or OH. I think that we are being really picky, maybe we had expectations that we could never reach, even by Celine standards. Just my feelings on that. Also, I will do a 1-10 system because it is better to show the difference between these songs specifically against eachother and not outside of the album. Hopefully that made sense Anyway, here we go! Plus qu'ailleurs - 8/10 For me this starts very acoustic sounding, and builds very well. The blending of the voices (whether her or background singers) on this track, and the album as a whole, sounds very good. The voices blend beautifully. The chorus is great, along with the build into the chorus. Her vocals are good as well. I loved it. L'etoile - 10/10 This song is SO much fun, I love the bouncy dancy/clappy chorus. I LOVE it. Definitely one of the best on the album for me. I don't love the auto-tune i guess, but I don't dislike it. It fits, I think this is where a lot of people are complaining but to me it fits well enough and for me it doesn't harm the beautiful vocals or anything really, of this very fun song. Ma faille - 9.5/10 You clearly hear the touch of Zaho in this song, and i feel it is refreshingly different. It stands out on the album, as others have said. I like it a lot, it helps make the album different. Many people talk about cohesive albums but i don't want one single style for the whole album. I like the variety and this one works. In my opinion anyway. I would feel better if she sounded more like herself than Zaho. She does this sometimes when she sings the songs of other singers, she adapts their styled vocals and sounds. But it still works for me! Encore un soir - 9/10 Part of the reason it's not higher is because I am used to it by now lol. Her voice is great, the song builds very very well. Its beautiful, touching and so much more. One of, if not the best first single from her albums. There is not much to say other than that. One thing I didn't love was in some notes she sounds more nasal, but its not a thing i hate, just i prefer not to have. Hope that makes sense. Je nous veux - 8.5/10 A very classic sounding Celine song in my opinion. I can imagine it on many of her previous albums, fitting perfectly, specifically D'uex and 1fe4t. Its great, makes me want to listen to her older stuff too. I wouldn't say it stands out as anything special but it certainly doesn't fail to keep me listening. Les yeux au ciel 9/10 Another fun song, not dance, but not a ballad either. It is catchy and her vocals are great. I catch myself bobbing my head so much. I can't put my finger on it but it reminds me of another Celine album. It will come later I am sure lol. It stands out slightly because of the catchy-ness and so I put it a hair above some of the others. Si c'etait a refaire - 8/10 Although her vocals on this song are gorgeous, and the start of the song is very beautiful, I am not sure it stands along side the others for the remainder of the song. I feel like it builds, but I find myself wanting more. I still like it, jut not the best from the album, even though I get a strong SSD vibe (which is one of my favorite - if not favorite- Celine albums). Ordinaire 8/10 Her Vocals are wonderful, I love the power and feeling when she belts those lines. I love how it builds to this huge bombastic finale. But if I am honest, I don't like the pacing of the song. "word(s) -pause- Words(s) -pause-" At least not through the entirety of the song. I feel like if there was a little less of this it could be closer to 9/10 (sorry guys, I know you are loving it mostly lol) Tu sauras 9/10 Another one that stands out on the album. Although it is not my favorite, it is very beautiful. IT does have a modern sound, and I can easily see it being a single. I think it could do well. I also feel like it's another fun one, though not on the level of L'etoile but it's still great. I would rate higher but sometimes I feel like it repeats a little too much in the chorus. This will be the sound I remember this album for (along with the zaho songs) when we talk about the next albums and comparing them to past ones. Toutes ces choses 10/10 This is my favorite (as of the writing of this anyway - who knows, things change over time lol) . The start is so beautiful, her vocals are on point! The melody and flow is just gorgeous to me, from the stronger vocals, to the more breathy ones. It gives me the feels as I listen. Simply beautiful. I lack the vocabulary to really express how much I love this song. It doesn't build like some that I really like do. But it suits this song so well. It's gorgeous. Enough said- in my opinion. Le bonheur en face 9/10 I definitely here 1fe4t from this song, or a Tous les secrets vibe. The chorus is beautiful, it's simple and strong. I imagine I would get the words more closely when singing along. Another contender for a good single in my mind. And the background vocals blend well yet again in this song to me. A la plus haute branche 8.5/10 Some of the best vocals one the album, if not THE best. It's melody is gorgeous. My only down side is that at almost 5 minutes it seems a little long and could have ended sooner. It feels a little slow. The live version, though I would give a 9/10. Great vocals and melody, just a tad bit too long and just not meeting with my expectations after hearing the live version. A vous 7-9/10 I know, my rating doesn't make sense lol. I can't quite decide on this one. It has so many sounds, the brass instruments, the very catchy rhythm, I love love the way it flows in parts, but yet in others its more strange. And then it goes back to the brass. It confuses me. Right now it's fluctuating as one of the lesser ones to one of the best ones. I guess currently I am slightly leaning toward the 9 end of the rating Ma force 8/10 Another one I am struggling with. I like the country feel and the chorus with the background vocals (choir?) it's good, but when I compare to the others I just can't really give it a higher number. It's more about how I feel the others were great than that this one was not good, you know? Trois heures vingt (Remastered) 7/10Don't hate me guys, but I never was a big fan of this one. It sounds great but I never thought it stood out as one of her great french recordings, even the early ones. Just my opinion. I saw a video on youtube of her singing this (or maybe it was just the intro? i don't remember.. ) But I loved it anyway. I wish she re-recorded it in the way I was hearing in that video. Album as a whole, I feel strongly this is one of my favorites (in french) along with SA and SSD - I will give it a strong 8.5-9/10 Sorry it was so long lol. I hope you guys enjoyed the album as much as me. Just my opinion anyway Edited August 26, 2016 at 06:08 PM by tomier 6 Quote
