tomier Posted August 26, 2016 at 06:15 PM Posted August 26, 2016 at 06:15 PM The potential singles and my thoughts about them: 1.Ma Faille... This is possibly the safest choice for a second single. It is a ballad, sounds modern and represents the Zaho songs which are a strong part of the album. 2.Je Nous Veux... Based on lyrical content it is the closest song to Encore Un Soir, it pairs well with it in the album. Could surely work as a local single in Quebec. 3.Les Yeux Au Ciel is nice and catchy. But I think it should not be the second single because its theme does not appeal to a wide audience. 4.Si C'etait A Refaire is written by J.Veneruso who is responsible for most Celine hits the past 15 years or so. The song already stood out on French i-tunes. 5.Tu Sauras... again a possible final single. It is catchy, but not representative of the album as it is the only dance track of the Standard Edition. I love all remaining songs, but do not see their single release potential. The only change/addition I have to this list I guess is that I would definitely include L'etoile or Le bonheur en face as a single. I think they are fun and really catchy I can easily see them on the radio. At least based on some popular french songs from youtube and other places i have been listening recently. Although I prefer a little more L'etoile to Le bonheur en face. 2 Quote
tomier Posted August 26, 2016 at 06:19 PM Posted August 26, 2016 at 06:19 PM I agree. I fail to see how she tries to be modern... PQA is not modern at all. EUS, JNV, SCAR, Ordinaire, TCC, LBEF and ALPHB are typical Celine ballads. 8/12 songs already. Exactly, even the ones that have some modern-ness to them aren't even that truly modern. A good example is Britney's new album, she really modernized and changed her style for this album. Celine is just being Celine with maybe (MAYBE) updated versions of her typically amazing music. but like you said, even THAT change is only about 8/12 or 10/15 (deluxe) 1 Quote

Angel2006 Posted August 26, 2016 at 06:23 PM Posted August 26, 2016 at 06:23 PM Well, I just got the album from Amazon US and inboxed it and it's in a JEWEL case. I was pleasantly surprised it's not in that paper sleeve they showed. Here's a picture!! OMG. I hope I get one that has plastic casing like yours. You are so lucky. I like the looks of the plastic casing so much more then the thin cardboard kind. I can't stand it. I think the other version makes it look so cheap. It reminds me of those CD's that only have two or three songs on them. Sampler CD's or whatever they are called. LOL. Did you know when you first got your CD that it was in a plastic casing, or did you have to open it to discover that it was plastic? I'm just wondering so that I know what it might look like in stores. Did it have one of those album sleeve things around the actual album, that hid what it really looked like before you opened it? 1 Quote

And they both have similar styles, one being slightly more up beat than the other. I would I agree with you in the end about the single prospects, I guess I am just feeling more partial to L'etoile. lol 1 Quote

Hilda Posted August 26, 2016 at 06:27 PM Posted August 26, 2016 at 06:27 PM (edited) ENCORE UN SOIRR!!! A delicious album. Although i have created my own version of the album which im listening to on repeat. The rest i can take or leave haha.It has a kinda mumford and sons / folky feel about it to me. Which is a bit modern but not incredibly. Best songs are L'etoile and Tu SaurasA vous i like but i find it hilarious - like a dated disco song at a circus. Popular Post Davey84 Posted August 26, 2016 at 06:31 PM Popular Post Posted August 26, 2016 at 06:31 PM (edited) YAYYYYYYYY I got the LP and Deluxe version today thanks to my sweet boyfriend!! Here's MY review 1 Plus Qu'AilleursLovely melody, I don't know if this is the strongest opening song. I think this song is a grower though! 8/10 2 L'ÉtoileGreat melody! Would love to hear this song live! I think the autotune is a great addition to the song, I don't find it annoying at all. Instant love! 8.5/10 3. Ma FailleThe music itself is very pretty. Like the flowing of the lyrics. Sounds a bit like an Eurovision song. lol. The climax of the song could have been better though! 7/10 4 Encore Un SoirSo many times I've heard this song already! From the moment it was released, it became an classic. Nothing more to add about this song, except for that the ending cws been done like the live version. 9/10 5 Je Vous Veux Very typical Marc Durpé song. It's a great that he captured Céline and wrote a song about her personally, about her life right now. Could have used a bit of spice though 7/10 6 Les Yeux Au Ciel Great hymn for RC. I really enjoy this song, and I think it could be one of the better songs on this album 8/10 7 Si C'était à Refaire Beautiful hommage to René. I really like this song, there's a lot of emotion in it. 8.5/10 8 Ordinaire Typically, with this track, my Bluray player started to act up and spit out the cd! GRRRRI really really really really really LOVE this song! I am so happy Céline recorded it! The live version is amazing because Céline completly let's go. She's a bit more restrained in this studio version, but there's still so much emotion in the song! Extraordinaire!! 9,5/10 9 Tu Sauras Is this the R'nB song people mentioned? It's not too bad, but here I understand the autotune comments. The beat isn't too bad. But I don't think Zaho is doing it for me. Sorry nice try, but no. Céline deserves better. 7/10 Also I am surprised so many people (4 here) had to write these quite simple lyrics! PFFFF What's with the creativity people?!?! But the best thing to Ma Famille and Tu Seras is that many Dutch musicians and technicians worked on the music and the Pays-Bas is mentioned in the booklet 10 Toutes Les Choses Lovely intro. Very sweet song. It sounds a bit like, what we in Dutch call a 'cabaret' song. It's that moment in a show where it becomes more serious, more focussed. Hard to explain. Hymne à la vie. 8/10 11 Le Bonheur En Face Would have worked great in the acoustic medley during the tour! Lovely melody! Sounds very French to me! 8/10 12 À La Plus Haute Branche So weird to hear whistling in a Celine song! LOL I dunno if it's her tho This sounds so much better than the demo! It's a very emotional song, there's something magical! So much better than I expected! A true gem! 9/10 (I couldn't believe i'd give it so much points either!) 13 À VousOh a bit weird next to the previous track... I like the trumpets, it's great to hear a true beat in her French songs. I wonder how it would sound live. I guess from the three Zaho songs, this one is the best. 8/10 14 Ma Force Awesome to read she used her own backings, Elise, Dawn and Barnev for backing vocals. Same for Ordinaire! It's not a bad song, but it's a bit like the Marc Dupré songs, I don't know what this song adds to this album. Like the ending though. 7/10 15 3H20 I love they added this song to this release. After the funeral it has gotten such a different emotion and special meaning. I think the remastering is awesome. If only they did that to all her old songs.... I wonder how many people actually hear the difference between a 16 year old and a 48 year old Céline... After 32 years still an amazing song! 9/10 In all: the album is different than I expected. Of course you don't know what to expect, but it's not your typical French Céline album. You can't compare it to other ones. I do like it, though it's not instant love yet. I do think that with more plays, the album will be better. It will take a few times before I can differentiate the songs. IMO Sans Attendre was much more diverse musically. The album describes Céline current phase in life perfectly. In between life and death, her kids and her public, her own feelings and her new direction in life. I don't think she took many risks, but there's also a new sound, more stripped down, more of Quebecoise style? Not her best release ever, but still a solid 8! But ps. I do hope her English album will be bombastic with a lot of UMPF! Angel2006 Posted August 26, 2016 at 06:41 PM Posted August 26, 2016 at 06:41 PM After looking at pictures of the Deluxe version on instagram, it looks like the same kind of paper sleeve album is inside the box as the Standard edition. I know it's a Deluxe, but the only reason I was going to buy a Standard edition was because I thought the deluxe wouldn't fit in my CD holder and look like an actual CD. Now that I see that there is virtually almost the exact album inside the deluxe box, with the paper sleeve and everything, I think I might just buy the Deluxe. I have a few deciding factors to go over firth though. Can anyone please be so kind to tell me if the pictures on the Standard and Deluxe are any different? Did everyone receive there Standard edition CD in a plastic casing? Also, Is there any changes in the songs on one album verses the other? Quote
