"Encore Un Soir" album - Official Topic

TOTALLY getting "1 fille et 4 types" vibe from a lot of the songs, especially the ones that I'm liking the most. REALLY glad that we finally got a semi-"1F4T" tour this summer.

 

The more I hear that 1f&4t comparison, the more my waiting is becoming unbearable. That Amazon parcel of mine with the deluxe edition better arrive soon next week

 

I think I'm going to be the last fan in this forum to listen, but les derniers seront les premiers they say

 

I think I'm going to enjoy the listening after all this waiting and reading so many positive comments about the songs, the diversity of styles, the uptempo tunes, the comparison with the albums I love...

Just listened to it through for the first time. And I loved it. I also think it's already better than Sans attendre! And me too I instantly fell in love with L'Étoile... :heart: And there are some other songs that I think I'll be playing a lot.. Like Les yeux au ciel. And Tu sauras.

Hearing new songs from Céline is always as great a feeling.. it's hard to explain, but I think you guys will get it. When you've listened to a voice for more than half of your life, and it's such a familiar voice, a voice like no one else's.. then to hear new songs sung by that voice, it's like.. you feel it so "deeply", you know?

So, that chorus is so intense and infectious, I really like the contrast between calmer verses and this huge chorus.

I prefer more positive themes so I prefer lyrics from other songs...

 

Oh I couldn't agree more on this! but I'm just saying that although I agree that the melody could probably benefit from a few tweaks, maybe it's not about melody with this album. I think the lyrics are more important (which trust me, a composer saying this is the paradox of the century lol!).

Ok, it's definitely NOT the best song on the album BY FAR (AND it's a bonus track), BUT am I the only one who would've liked to see "À vous" performed in place of "Dans un autre monde" during the tour? I feel like with the orchestra and horn section, it could've been a lot of fun...

Guys, after listening a few times I have to say that I really love this album. I like all the songs, but my favourite tracks so far are “Je nous veux” and “Tu sauras”.

 

Je nous veux is so sincere and honest. I have to admit that it really gets me.

Tu Sauras is just mindblowing!

So apparently in Spain the CD deluxe edition is going to be released next Friday, 2 september, according to Amazon

 

But wait, the vinyl edition is already for sale on Amazon Spain, in stock, and I already ordered a copy and it was dispatched this morning (it will arrive next Tuesday). So I'll probably have the vinyl before the CD. This. In plain 2016. In my country and with a French release. Seeing is believing! :sofunny:

You're lucky to be a French Canadian native and be able to understand everything she says with all the details. Wish my people would understand a little, to get a small part of the excitement I get when I listen to her songs in French

1 Plus Qu'Ailleurs

Lovely melody, I don't know if this is the strongest opening song. I think this song is a grower though! 8/10

 

2 L'Étoile

Great melody! Would love to hear this song live! I think the autotune is a great addition to the song, I don't find it annoying at all. Instant love! 8.5/10

 

3. Ma Faille

The music itself is very pretty. Like the flowing of the lyrics. Sounds a bit like an Eurovision song. lol. The climax of the song could have been better though! 7/10

 

4 Encore Un Soir

So many times I've heard this song already! From the moment it was released, it became an classic. Nothing more to add about this song, except for that the ending cws been done like the live version. 9/10

 

5 Je Vous Veux

 

Very typical Marc Durpé song. It's a great that he captured Céline and wrote a song about her personally, about her life right now. Could have used a bit of spice though 7/10

 

6 Les Yeux Au Ciel

 

Great hymn for RC. I really enjoy this song, and I think it could be one of the better songs on this album 8/10

 

7 Si C'était à Refaire

 

Beautiful hommage to René. I really like this song, there's a lot of emotion in it. 8.5/10

 

8 Ordinaire

 

Typically, with this track, my Bluray player started to act up and spit out the cd! GRRRR

I really really really really really LOVE this song! I am so happy Céline recorded it! The live version is amazing because Céline completly let's go. She's a bit more restrained in this studio version, but there's still so much emotion in the song! Extraordinaire!! 9,5/10

 

9 Tu Sauras

 

Is this the R'nB song people mentioned? It's not too bad, but here I understand the autotune comments. The beat isn't too bad. But I don't think Zaho is doing it for me. Sorry nice try, but no. Céline deserves better. 7/10

 

Also I am surprised so many people (4 here) had to write these quite simple lyrics! PFFFF What's with the creativity people?!?!

 

But the best thing to Ma Famille and Tu Seras is that many Dutch musicians and technicians worked on the music and the Pays-Bas is mentioned in the booklet

 

10 Toutes Les Choses

 

Lovely intro. Very sweet song. It sounds a bit like, what we in Dutch call a 'cabaret' song. It's that moment in a show where it becomes more serious, more focussed. Hard to explain. Hymne à la vie. 8/10

 

11 Le Bonheur En Face

 

Would have worked great in the acoustic medley during the tour! Lovely melody! Sounds very French to me! 8/10

 

12 À La Plus Haute Branche

 

So weird to hear whistling in a Celine song! LOL I dunno if it's her tho This sounds so much better than the demo! It's a very emotional song, there's something magical! So much better than I expected! A true gem! 9/10 (I couldn't believe i'd give it so much points either!)

 

13 À Vous

Oh a bit weird next to the previous track... I like the trumpets, it's great to hear a true beat in her French songs. I wonder how it would sound live. I guess from the three Zaho songs, this one is the best. 8/10

 

14 Ma Force

 

Awesome to read she used her own backings, Elise, Dawn and Barnev for backing vocals. Same for Ordinaire! It's not a bad song, but it's a bit like the Marc Dupré songs, I don't know what this song adds to this album. Like the ending though. 7/10

 

15 3H20

 

I love they added this song to this release. After the funeral it has gotten such a different emotion and special meaning. I think the remastering is awesome. If only they did that to all her old songs.... I wonder how many people actually hear the difference between a 16 year old and a 48 year old Céline... After 32 years still an amazing song! 9/10

 

In all: the album is different than I expected. Of course you don't know what to expect, but it's not your typical French Céline album. You can't compare it to other ones. I do like it, though it's not instant love yet. I do think that with more plays, the album will be better. It will take a few times before I can differentiate the songs. IMO Sans Attendre was much more diverse musically.

 

The album describes Céline current phase in life perfectly. In between life and death, her kids and her public, her own feelings and her new direction in life. I don't think she took many risks, but there's also a new sound, more stripped down, more of Quebecoise style? Not her best release ever, but still a solid 8!

 

 

But ps. I do hope her English album will be bombastic with a lot of UMPF!

My sister who likes Celine because I forced her when we were little, still think that Ordinaire was the best song of the concert.

We discovered the whole album on radio in the car today ( on France bleu) many small interviews of Celine and 2 new songs each hour.

Pure magic !

I know that my vinyl is waiting for me at home in Paris...

I will never be so happy to leave my family this weekend

Exactly ! It's a so dramatic song! One of my favorite on this album. It's so easy to imagine Celine on stage being so celinish, when she hits her breast and do the "arms thing" at the end of the song. So great

I know you all have your rituals when it comes to listening to a new Celine Album.... Mine is to go on a long drive at night and just soak it all in..... It's safe to say I was driving much faster listening to this album... I will treasure the memory of listening to this album for the first time..... I instantly loved this album...
