It's wonderful to see that so many people around the world who don't even speak/understand French are buying and enjoying this album! That's the power of Celine!!! She unites the world! She makes me so proud of her!

Lisbonne is my favourite producer on the album. Then comes Zaho. Gatica and Price come next mainly because of "A la plus haute branche". I always liked Veneruso's songs except for a few weak ones but his contribution on this album is not remarkable at all. Lisbonne and Zaho run rings round him. Cabrel's song sounds nice but they should have directed Celine to sing with less palate (she doesn't do it in the rest of the songs except for a few words).

 

I still don't get used to the two universes on this album: the current uptempo arrangements and the very classic ones. There are some nice effects with piano and electronic sounds that are current and could have been used to achieve consistency. But comparing my reaction to the first time I listened to "Sans attendre", "Encore un soir" sounds better. Time will tell which one is better.

 

I love the way she sings "Toutes ces choses" and "A la plus haute branche", her voice sounds sweet, calm and nice, she doesn't hold anything... it's like breathing. She does the opposite on "Plus qu'ailleurs" singing as if she had something in her mouth or throat. I hate how the "yeah" at the end of "L'etoile" sounds... I don't know why sometimes she does it. "Ordinaire" is a great song but I don't like the way Celine's voice sounds louder than the orchestra. Sounds powerful as "Le blues du businessman" or "Quand on n'a que l'amour", but I don't feel it will become such a classic in her discography.

 

There are songs that still have to grow on me. My least favourite is "Je nous veux". My favourite is "Encore un soir" (I'm disappointed with the end of the album version, though). "Les yeux au ciel" is my second favourite.

 

Nice album. 3 out of 5.

Self-driving taxis, random families and children playing with floating toys on the street, fans surrounding her and then disappearing. Did I see a parked car lift off the street in the last moment? How does this work? I miss the simple days when we had Celine double walking around in the desert and blowing jeweled kisses....

Sigh after about 20 listens of this album.. still nothing is jumping out at me. I can't recall the melodies of songs, don't find myself humming tunes like I normally do with a new album.. I mean I enjoy it when I'm listening, but I sure wish I enjoyed it more I just have this overwhelming feeling like I've heard every one of the songs before. Maybe as some of you have discovered, more listens will unlock something for me...

Something very similar happens to me. I mean, I really like the album and I'm glad its a 'happy' album with good energy and not a depressing one. (Don't get me wrong, Im not talking about Rene when I say 'drpressing', it's only that the previous albums were like she didn't want to record them and just did as an obligation)

What happens to me, and maybe you and others, is that I had so much expectations for this album, and counted the days till was released, so when I listen to it know is like I'm still waiting for something and that's why I can not enjoy it the way it deserves. Maybe in the next days when I get over the excitement, I can enjoy it better. (Sorry if you don't understand, I don't speak English).

i really love that song, i feel calm , content, in the moment listening to it. I'm just happy every second of the song, never wishing to hear the past ten seconds or the next, just the moment. And it touches me.

I really disappointed with the negative criticism that came out in the French press about his new album, I did not know that this kind of criticism of Celine in the middle French, it's sad, I think some people who have written has a bit of hatred in the heart, because I do not understand how they can write such things.

in french we say Plénitude, would be fullness in english. i think this is the only song by Celine who has that effect on me.

When you ordered it on amazon, did you know you were getting a plastic casing or did it show it on there website as the regular paper sleeve?

 

I am seriously considering ordering one like that for myself, because I prefer the plastic casing much more.

 

Sorry I am asking so many questions, but I just want to make sure I order it the correct way. If I go on amazon.ca and type in Encore un Soir Standard edition, will I for sure receive the plastic casing, even if it shows the sleeve version on the site?

LOL, yes, it's quite odd, but I think there's probably a lot of metaphorical meaning in it. For instance, she seems at first to be in the fairly distant past, with the old-fashioned taxi and people carrying old-fashioned suitcases, but then suddenly there are fans with smartphones snapping pictures, and it's like we've suddenly jumped into 2016, even though she's still in the old taxi. . . I think that's a symbol of time passing so quickly you don't realize how much things have changed -- sort of the whole theme of the song. The driverless taxi I think is a symbol of loss of control . . we're not in control of this life (or when it ends) and you kind of have let life take you where it will, like letting a taxi just go where it will without a driver controlling it.

 

I'd love to hear from the producer of the video, what he/she was thinking. I think there's probably a lot of meaning in it.

With the release of the album its like i'm rediscovering the song Encore un soir....its very good...i love the ending of that song. I find its intense! But I feel like i'm the only one loving the longer album version! Anyway I love it!

That's interesting... My copy wasn't wrapped, the only seal was the sticker at the top of the case.

 

When you ordered it on amazon, did you know you were getting a plastic casing or did it show it on there website as the regular paper sleeve?

I can see them releasing it that way for the Deluxe version, because they have to design it a certain way to fit the extra stuff, but why do they have to cheapen the look of the Standard version. I agree. For SA, I love the jewel case more than the deluxe digipack. Considering the exact same digipack already comes inside the deluxe edition box, I don't know why they didn't make the standard version a jewel case worldwide. The jewel case is just so classic.

Well, I just got the album from Amazon US and inboxed it and it's in a JEWEL case. I was pleasantly surprised it's not in that paper sleeve they showed. Here's a picture!!

I think you should be able to order off of the US site. Many of us in the US have ordered the deluxe edition from Amazon.ca, so it should work vice versa. And yes, the standard edition costs $11.98.
