Céline under attack for using playback

SHE DOESN'T LIP HALF THE CONCERT AND IF THAT GETS OUT INTO THE MEDIA THEN THINGS WILL BE BAD

If you are that reasonable and logical, you can admit you were mistaken in the case of RDMH and Alone. Céline's lipped repertoire is sadly big enough, we shouldn't make it even bigger.

 

Yeah, I admit: I was not mistaken.

 

Well, maybe if she doesn't lip all the performances of these songs in all the concerts, she did them for the following. I just found my little camera recorder earlier today, and it didn't take me that long to find these clips and share them with you. This is not something that I like to do, but I would prefer to stand by my word.

And as for the AND DVD----I think the blond Celine DVD would have been better. She looked SEVERELY bored on several of the songs and her makeup wasn't as well as I'd seen before. She looked tired as hell, but in the older clips she looked rejuvinated and happy. "Et, je t'aime encore" seemed like a more intimate moment than "Pour que tu m'aimes encore." "All The Way" has been beaten to death! After the CBS Special in 1999 and the Millennium Concert--I think we've seen enough footage of it. "River Deep, Mountain High" was the only major improvement. If you want to HEAR a quality concert, listen to "A l'Olympia." Yes it's in French, but I think a true Celine Dion fan would enjoy it. (Learn French if that's the problem!)!!!! RIP, Vegas!!!! On to bigger and better projects. Hopefully on this DVD we won't see fans that go to every show and not know any of the words and only have the "All The Way...A Decade of Song" CD. Je m'en fous!!!! I'm SURE that the DVD of this tour will be new and exciting and completely refreshing.

 

There are pros and cons to everything.

 

The first taping of "A New Day..." was not as ambitious as the latter. The new project was honed, polished and programmed. It was film in true HD, while the old one was filmed in SD. In addition, they used such a diffused filter on the camera lens, of course Celine looked more flawless, yet my eyes would hurt watching it straight for 1.5 hours.

 

Apparently, we only caught a glimpse of what all the footages were like.

Unfortunately, we will never ever see what the old taping looked like.

 

And I must say, I seriously wish she had kept singing "Je t'aime encore" and "Fever."

 

So, what exactly is happening on the 12th?

 

Can you look into the crystal ball and tell us all?

 

 

12 August = Celine's first date on the North American leg of her tour.

Some people call it "stirring the pot,"

Yet, I call it - finding the essence of his post.

 

There are disgruntled fans blaming Celine because they travelled halfway around the world to Europe and somehow they can't justify their travelling expenditures/costs to the show they got. Honey it's time to get a reality check. Thats' on you, NOT Celine. I hate to break it to you but if you have to see the concert a million times or travel to another continent to see the same show repeatedly then you have only yourself to blame. Don't start blaming Celine because you don't feel you got your money's worth. She can't customize the show solely to please you no matter how far you've travelled or how much your tickets and hotel costed.

Okay... honey, here's a clarification: The reason why I put down something numeric is to show that I'm NOT a groundless, non-admiring, anti-Celine... I wanted to clarify that I have seen her in person, I do care, and there is value in all this.

Maybe I'm being a little nieve...but have you ever thought maybe it sounds the same every night because she sings the same songs every night? She rehearsed the notes to sound that way Im sure, and if it works one night...she would most likely continue to sing it the same way the next night. I don't know, she's sung these songs thousands of times. It's probably like breathing for her. Theres a few obvious songs like POL and TLYM that yeah duh shes lip syncing annnnd IDAN is way obvious because she goes from "good evening _______" and the sound is kinda crappy because everyone is screaming, then it just goes to a track and the sound is crystal clear. I think she has to add some lipping in there because 20 something songs a night is a lot for anyone, even Celine, to get through without killing themselves. (although lipping her opening song is probably biggest mistake to me.)

And sorry, but when people keep saying TC bombed that is so untrue. Taking Chances had great sales considering album sales are going way down in the industry because of Itunes and piracy. Yes, they could have done another single but I think sony did a good job promoting when the album first came out. Let's face it...CELINE WAS EVERYWHERE.

Thing is she has been doing this for years.

 

Even back in Live in Memphis. - half of If You Asked Me To is lipped. Where does my heart beat now has to be cos its sounds the exact same. Misled is lipped, The usual in TPOL, I reckon the high note in ABM is lipped then too. I think Falling Into You was lipped on that tour also because I was there in 1996 and it sounded like the cd.

 

On the LTAL tour The reason is live up until the 2nd "It's all because of you...." then its lipped up until the very end when its live again. Treat Her Like A Lady, Stayin Alive, TLYM, TPOL -- all lipped (I think Terre and Dans Un Autre Monde are too)

 

When we see the Taking Chances DVD I reckon we will all agree that parts of Alone, ABM and Taking Chances are prob lipped too.

 

I just hope (against all hope) that she records the show live in Boston and Montreal. Even if they take the best of the 2 nights. She only needs to sing IDAN live on one of the nights and same for the others. She can get away with lippping Eyes on Me cos its doesnt make any difference but All of Alone, TC, TPOL and It's all coming... should be live for the DVD

 

I think the lipped parts in A New Day look terrible. especially TLYM and I surrender.

 

She has gotten away with it for so long that she prob thinks no one notices.

 

The problem is all of celine's songs are vocally challenging which makes it hard for her. So need to accept some will be lipped as with everyone these days but she should at least change some of the lipped repertoire or pull out some old songs she would live to sing live again.

 

I said this before the shows are always about pleasing a crowd or generic casual fans rather than actual fans.

 

I spoke to someone I know last night who was also at her show and he asked me "was it all live?"

A little bit - as said before - I did not like the concert at all, one of the worst I have seen - and I have seen a lot. Still can´t get over this cheap setup, this stage, my god, that stage... not even I would perform on such a thing

Did you see her walking in and out of her dressing tent and walk to the back of the stage to "appear" from the back? Can it get any cheaper? Don´t think so... especially if you read the announcement "...a fest of light and colour.." or something like that...

But - as I said before - she had wonderful moments when she did her new songs, my barbeque sauce was "My love", "Taking chances" and "Alone" - that was real, that was Celine in all her glory.

But the rest - "We will rock you" - I don´t even find the right words to express how dull that was.

And her big hits from tape.

 

Martin, I really don't know what your problem is!! You're complaining and whining about everything like a little spoiled boy. I was at the some concert (front row) and I enjoyed every second of it! Well, it was my birthday ...but everyone else seemed to have a great time, apart from you of course. Poor guy!! I personally couldn't care less about the setup of the stage, Céline's dressing tent or from where she "appears". The indoor centre stage is more spectecular of course and it's wonderful to see her walk through the audience but I personally prefer the end stage because I can face Céline all the time. I made both experiences, so I know what I'm talking about.

I don't like the fact that she's lipping but apart from that (and the outrageous ticket prices) I have no complaints about the show. I was happy with the setlist, her outfits and everything else!

And just because YOU didn't like the show doesn't mean that it was bad!

But to pick up your last sentence from above - just because YOU liked the show doesn´t mean it was good either.

 

Considering that only die-hard-fans are meeting her in such places it is very obvious that even some of her hardcore-fans didn´t like this "show". Not a big thing - I don´t want to be mean or hurt anybodys feelings - sometimes I just have the feeling that between all this "how can you do this to Celine"-posts I have to say something harsh because this almost religious way of looking at her makes me sick.

 

She earns the hell a lot of money with this tour, so I just think she should deliver something great.

I can´t sleep four hours of my nine-hour working day just because I have to save my brilliant brain for the future (ok, it´s not that brilliant, but ok ) I would get a kick in the #ss - and I think it is more than ok to express my (or our) thoughts if - in my opinion - there is such a massive lack of quality and such a gap between the ticket price and what we got in the end.

 

And though it does not always sound like it - I don´t wish anything bad for Celine. But I think it would be healing for her and her artistic work if this lipsynching would make its way to the press because she URGENTLY needs to change.

 

Might not happen - as many wrote before, nobodys really interested in her anymore that much. Which is also sad in a way.

 

We can only hope that the old tapes go bad one day and she is forced to record new ones....

Well, I actually could not have imagined a better birtday party!

And yes, the concert really worked for me! Maybe it's because I didn't have very high expecations. I mean Stuttgart and Munich were my first two Céline concerts and to be honest with you, I didn't even notice her lipping. I only learned about it afterwards.

And you know, I'm not that type of person who needs a big show. I'm just happy to see and hear my idol. But everyone is different of course and everyone has different expectations. I just felt that you sounded a bit too harsh and negative. I certainly respect your opinion but I really don't think that a big scandal in a tabloid like our "Bild-Zeitung" would help Céline. You know, the die-hard fans will always stand by her and support her. But they are in the minority. And what about the rest? Did you see how empty the Olympiastadium was? I don't even want to mention the concert in Stuttgart. I was shocked to see so many empty seats and I felt so sorry for Céline. Now what do you think will happen when people find out that she's lipping on stage? Nobdoy will want to see her show anymore. I'm not happy that she lip-synchs but I guess she must have her reasons. I would certainly ask her if I could! Anyway, that doesn't change my love and admiration for her...and I'm just worried about her reputation, that's all. I hope you can understand my point of view.

At the end of the day we ALL have a choice - do we pay the money to go see her? Yes we do - and for some people, a HELL OF A LOT OF MONEY IS SPENT!!

 

If it wasn't for my job I wouldn't go see her in Cape Town/NY/Las Vegas as much as I have done. I'm very lucky in that respect. Do you really think I would have paid £1000+ to go meet her in Vegas? Heck NO!!! I have my own life to think about! I didn't even get a free ticket to the show or a complimentary copy of the DVD!!!! (I got a Pam Ann one :-))Ok I got a signed copy of a picture of me and my idol - but I don't think it's worth £1000+ :-) We were told we couldn't take pics with our cameras - and couldn't get anything signed ourselves (Celine wasn't even allowed to step outside the black box!!) - it's all set up and prepared!! I could go on!! Although I did have a fab day knowing all I paid for was the show ticket! :-) I'm not wingeing - it's just reality.

 

It's your choice if you spend ludicrous amounts of money to follow her - and more fool you if you are upset she Lips - why do you think she is travelling to so many places? It's to try get to as many people/fans as she can. If you want to go see 20 of her shows then good for you but I think it's wrong to be upset if you know she lips.

 

HOWEVER - if you have only just found out she lips then - Ok - thats different, and you probably have a right to be annoyed - and now you have a choice - continue seeing her or not. It's all a matter of personal taste.

 

I STILL believe the X-factor/American Idol etc.... is fake. It's just a money making machine. If you like it - great! if not - we have a choice :-)

 

The pressure is always on Celine - If she trips on the piano whilst singing IDAN.... ARGH!!!!!!! I'd feel for her but it's not our fault.

So you had a nice birthday - isn´t that great? I am happy for you, I really am.... the concert seemed to have worked for you, great.

Well, I actually could not have imagined a better birtday party!

And yes, the concert really worked for me! Maybe it's because I didn't have very high expecations. I mean Stuttgart and Munich were my first two Céline concerts and to be honest with you, I didn't even notice her lipping. I only learned about it afterwards.

And you know, I'm not that type of person who needs a big show. I'm just happy to see and hear my idol. But everyone is different of course and everyone has different expectations. I just felt that you sounded a bit too harsh and negative. I certainly respect your opinion but I really don't think that a big scandal in a tabloid like our "Bild-Zeitung" would help Céline. You know, the die-hard fans will always stand by her and support her. But they are in the minority. And what about the rest? Did you see how empty the Olympiastadium was? I don't even want to mention the concert in Stuttgart. I was shocked to see so many empty seats and I felt so sorry for Céline. Now what do you think will happen when people find out that she's lipping on stage? Nobdoy will want to see her show anymore. I'm not happy that she lip-synchs but I guess she must have her reasons. I would certainly ask her if I could! Anyway, that doesn't change my love and admiration for her...and I'm just worried about her reputation, that's all. I hope you can understand my point of view.

Well, now I have to pack my stuff because I'm flying to Bali tomorrow for two weeks!

Yes - wasn´t that terrible? I have never seen the stadium to be so empty at any concert before. Even after they relocated everything and turned the stage it still was empty.

You shouldn´t be worried about her reputation - she should.

They are dishing out old crap on tapes and they get - carefully said - mixed opinions about this. Fair enough.

 

I am sure that not even half of the 20,000 people who attended this concert in Munich would come back to see her.

Among all the die-hard-fans I am pretty much alone with my opinion that the show was bad, but I was there with seven people and they all were shocked about how bad it was (partly my fault, because I told everyone she is the best live )

I know a lot of people don´t care about the stage or lightshow anything, but if you have seen a show from lets say a decent star lately this Celine-show was the cheapest of the cheapest. Small screen, a few coloured lights, a flat rental stage and on TOP of that the lipsynching. There is not much left I can cheer for - the person itself - well, maybe, if I see her on the street, but not if I payed quite a lot of money for it.

 

I think you can fly to Bali without worrying - I personally don´t think this lipsynching makes it anywhere in the press - everybody who wants to report about that wants to 100% sure that she is really cheating, this requires some research - and as the public is not really that interested in her anymore I seriously doubt that this incident will make it to the tabloids.
