Céline under attack for using playback

What was playback in Vegas then?? I saw the show 5 times and not once did i ever think any of it was mimed. I can usually pick up on it if it is. Think i must have missed something!!

I'm glad I didn't know about her doing playback before the concert... it would totally ruin it for me there at the stadium. Kinda did already, I was so happy to have paid and arranged for me the privilege of seeing and hearing Celine live (?) FINALLY and now the memory of the magical evening is gone, a little. I just wish she'd give more effort and have more respect for her fans. She said in an interview that she doesn't need to sing anymore, that she does it because she wants to, well, it doesn't seem so to me. I don't care if I ever hear MHWGO again, lose those old songs (not BYLM and IACBTMN though ) you can't stand anymore and do a decent show, the way concerts are done, or should be done.

 

I don't wish Celine anything bad, I just want her to start caring for the fans more, again. I believe she can do it, she has proven that she can when she sang those new songs live, she just needs to be less lazy. Sorry Celine.

I assume this one is not direct towards moi, but I must clarify that it's not time-consuming for me to be on this thread and to give my viewpoints, opinion and insights... it's just the fun of being a forumer.

I do agree with the misrepresentation of the forum. If someone wanted to see what Dion fans think of her and they came to this post, wouldn't they get a negative feeling about Celine? Do we want that? I don't think she should be fed to the sharks either. Some might say that she's "earned" her place in the music buisness, and she herself has said she doesn't HAVE to prove anything anymore.

 

I think we are fortunate to have Celine take on such a LARGE world tour. She certainly didn't have to! If I were her, I would have taken a long break after Vegas. But the woman knows how much her fans adore her.

What this topic does is create more attention for the media, for that Celine hater critic who is prepairing to write an article somewhere about this nonsense. There's nothing any of you can do to stop her from lypsinching. It's normal in the business so lets give it a rest.

Regardless of any negative criticism, we still have certain people who continually champion our Celine. Sir George Martin, David Foster and other produces will always be able to testify to Celine's ability. And then of course, there is Cher and Shania Twain who have both expressed very sincerely and respectfully, their admiration for Celine and her talent. I can't remember their words exactly but didn't Shania say something about Celine being the voice of a generation and didn't Cher express her disbelief at the wonderful things Celine can do with her voice?

 

I think these comments, coming from colleagues and contemporaries, are more telling than any comment or video made by jealous or bitter haters.

Don't forget what Streisand told her after hearing their duet for the first time.

There is no way she would. Rene would never let her, he obviously needs to constantly make money. I wish Celine was more in charge of herself in her career than she is. I meant 'lazy' because she's lipping, doesn't bother to sing live for the fans who pay to hear her sing live, all of the songs. Okay, I understand if she lips on TV but concerts? It's just not acceptable to me.

If she needs to do this to help her voice then why can't people understand that already? I don't think that Celine is lazy. She could have easily quit after AND or before that and she is doing this tour specifically for her FANS! Why can't people just calm down over this and give her a break? I think she does it because if her voice goes then she would have to cancel quite a few concerts and Celine would never want to let her fans down after travelling a long way to see her and spending hard earned money on tickets. I feel that she is being very respectful to her faithful fans and knows that they go out of their way to see her and Celine wants to provide an amzing show.

Barbra never has had vocal discipline. She has been known to NEVER warm up---NEVER---and she took one day of voice lessons her whole career--and that was the very beginning. She's one of few who has never needed it. However, Celine is lucky in the long run that she knows how to WORK her voice and warm up. At 66 Barbra has lost some of her range, but still sings very well. I think Celine will have her range as long as she keeps her discipline.

 

Sure, Barbra could sing anything and she's still better than many. But I don't remember Barbra giving Celine any advice other than to not worry about technical things, just to sing with her heart.

Umm so in essence Barbra is saying Celine doesn't have vocal "discipline"?? Celine, the woman who never ate dairy products or even spoke on the days when she had a show? That really doesn't make too much sense especially considering that Barbra has been quoted saying she never had formal vocal lessons or training.
