tcherno Posted November 22, 2007 at 07:47 PM Posted November 22, 2007 at 07:47 PM Any news from the Billboard European Charts? CELINE IS #1 ...and Leona? It's weird. How did she manage to top Leona's 375k debut in UK? i think france, italy & germany sales helped her to get #1 I think this will propel her to a #1 at the UWC i dont think so, cause we still have that huge difference in sales with AK Quote
LuisMa Posted November 22, 2007 at 07:53 PM Posted November 22, 2007 at 07:53 PM Wow!! Topping Leona Lewis on the European Charts is amazing!! And also, given all the hoopla surrounding Alicia Keys' new album, it's great to see that Celine's back catalog is the one that's improving the most, as she blazes onto the Top 10 on Pop Catalog albums at number 10 with "These Are Special Times" (No. 16 on Holiday Albums as well), and her "All The Way... A Decade Of Song" returns on that same chart at No. 19!! Quote

Céline's Blues Posted November 22, 2007 at 07:57 PM Posted November 22, 2007 at 07:57 PM IS it possible that the European Album Chart is not about sales?????Yes, it's about retardation actually. Céline is getting retarded in 2009 and in 2007 she's preparing to do so...soooooooo as you see it is helping her on the European Album Chart big time. Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg
thevoice Posted November 22, 2007 at 08:16 PM Author Posted November 22, 2007 at 08:16 PM celine is still the queen of europ - that's your answer!!! at 40 she is still selling more than the hottest young stars...she is not only the best selling female artist in history , she is also a massive power in europ THIS DAYS Quote
VinnyT. Posted November 22, 2007 at 08:25 PM Posted November 22, 2007 at 08:25 PM Here's Billboard article. Celine Takes 'Chances' To The Top In Europe November 22, 2007 - Global By Paul Sexton, London There are new leaders on both of Billboard's pan-European sales charts, as Celine Dion's "Taking Chances" (Columbia) debuts in pole position on Top 100 Albums and "Apologize" (Mosley/Blackground/Interscope) by Timbaland presents One Republic moves 5-1 on Eurochart Top 100 Singles. Dion's album does not lead in any individual market, but arrives at No. 2 in France and Denmark, No. 3 in Austria, No. 4 in Holland, No. 5 in Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom (the latter on sales of 55,000). The title track single is at No. 7 in France and No. 8 in Italy. In May of this year, Dion's French language album "D'Elles" (Columbia) opened at No. 11 on Top 100 Albums after debuting at No. 1 in France and No. 3 in Switzerland. Her last English-language set "Miracle" bowed on Top 100 Albums at No. 8 in October 2004 and peaked the following week at No. 6. WOW so happy! boyblackuk Posted November 22, 2007 at 08:46 PM Posted November 22, 2007 at 08:46 PM We all need to get Leona out our heads she has only released her album in the UK and although she has sold big, 20+ european countries have had "Taking Chances", she is bound to sell more as a complete total and be Number 1. European wise she has obviously sold more than 400k....we may be around 750k worldwide (LETS HOPE SO) Quote

Bellamy Posted November 23, 2007 at 12:44 AM Posted November 23, 2007 at 12:44 AM Leona is 9th and Alicia 3rd.How is this possible? It means Celine sold at least 500k in Europe. I think that shows the power of an international artist. Even with no #1 in any Euro market, she's in top 10 everywhere, so she gets #1!!!! Quote Please support the forum by ordering everything through our special Amazon.com link Click here. Xpresso Posted November 23, 2007 at 12:57 AM Posted November 23, 2007 at 12:57 AM The numbers from United World Chart (UWC) don't make sense. 454,000? She sold 214,000 in the US, 79,000 in Canada which total 293,000. Which means she would have sold 161,000 in the rest of the world. So how could she be #1 on Billboard's European Top 100 Albums with 161,000 (and less because the other countries are not counted yet)??? Something doesn't add up. I wouldn't trust thos UWC figures at all... Quote

I wouldn't trust thos UWC figures at all... You're right. Obviously she sold many more copies than 350k in Euro. Cause Leona sold 350k in UK, and only get #9.Even only sold 350K in Euro, that's 350K+214K+79K=643K, that's already much more than 454,000 from UWC. This figure is crap. And don't forget Celine is a big seller in Japan and the whole Asia too. Quote Please support the forum by ordering everything through our special Amazon.com link Click here. Thank you!
