Xpresso Posted November 22, 2007 at 11:59 AM Posted November 22, 2007 at 11:59 AM Excellent news for Canada!!! 79,000!!! As someone stated before, this is the equivalent of selling 790,000 in the US (since population is 10 times smaller in Canada than in the US)!!UNBELIEVABLE!!! Hope this will shut up a few people in Halifx... Quote
Xpresso Posted November 22, 2007 at 12:11 PM Posted November 22, 2007 at 12:11 PM (edited) Did you notice that Celine has the Top Internet Album in the US (Billboard)?? That's a surprise to me! Clive Davis probably sent his people to buy Alicia's albums in stores but he forgot to order some albums online!!! And Taking Chances single is a Top 10 hit in Canada (biggest sales gainer on the chart, going from 28 to #10)!!! And it's #54 on Billboard's Hot 100!!! And also on Billboard POP 100 chart, new at #35!!!!! Who talked about a flop? Don't forget that Alicia is played on many different radio formats - AC, HAC, POP, Hip Hop, R&B!! That's why she gets so much airplay... But look at Celine going up and up. Slowly but surely!! Edited November 22, 2007 at 12:12 PM by Xpresso Quote

tcherno Posted November 22, 2007 at 01:27 PM Posted November 22, 2007 at 01:27 PM (edited) great news from CANADA. and on the billboard charts, TC single is doing good, but will it be in higher positions in the next weeks?cause, celine did 1 week of promotion for the album in the USA... so... she wont have tv appearances for a while... that worries me... i hope she will record some tv appearances during her shows in Vegas and before heading to Canada for xmas vacation. luciusbright Posted November 22, 2007 at 02:41 PM Posted November 22, 2007 at 02:41 PM Well I decided to write coz I'm pretty disappointed not from Celine but from fans here. Have all of you realized that a number 3 position in the U.S charts is a huge thing????????? And to be more accurate maybe this is not the final position as it's also a 20% left to be considered- these numbers refer only to the 80%, right????Have you realized that Celine is the only one in this top 10 that is not a native english speaker and that she remains one of the worlds bigger sellers only thanks to a huge fan base and a promo of only 1 week???????There are other fans , mainly french ones that complain for the No 2 position in the French charts, but in the number 1 appears not an English album but a French one and a French album by Mr Hallyday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you think that if Celine released a french album and an english one the same week French people would decide to pick up the English one??????????? Taking Chances- the song, cannot be called a hit but facts show that she is one of the few artists that don't need a huge hit to sell albums, I'm I right?????? She's number 5 in the UK without a lot of promo, with no hit song and she's there again between english natives !!!! WHY WE CANNOT BE HAPPY FOR THE POSITIONS SHE ACHIEVED AND OPTIMISTIC FOR THINGS TO COME ????????????? I WANT TO BE THE FIRST ONE TO GIVE CONGRATULATIONS TO CELINE FOR HER CHARTS POSITIONS, BRAVO GIRL WE LOV YOU That's exactly right!!I cannot agree with you any more!!!!!!  Quote S'il suffisait d'aimer...

Xpresso Posted November 22, 2007 at 03:22 PM Posted November 22, 2007 at 03:22 PM From Billboard magazine: A day after debuting at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 with "As I Am" (J), Alicia Keys assumes control of the Billboard Hot 100 with "No One," which inches up from No. 2. The track sold 210,000 downloads, an 88% increase from last week, and remains No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a sixth week. On the Hot 100, "No One" trades places with Chris Brown's "Kiss Kiss" featuring T-Pain, which has been No. 1 for three weeks. Timbaland's "Apologize" featuring OneRepublic holds at No. 3, while newcomer Flo Rida's "Low" featuring T-Pain continues to climb 6-4, a week after rocketing from No. 64. Colbie Caillat's "Bubbly" remains No. 5, Soulja Boy's "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" is down 4-6 and Kanye West's "Good Life" featuring T-Pain sticks at No. 7. Fergie's "Clumsy" jumps 12-8, making her the first female artist since Paul Abdul in 1989 and 1990 to take five songs from a debut album into the top 10. Baby Bash's "Cyclone" featuring T-Pain is down 8-9, and West's "Stronger" rounds out the top 10 with a 9-10 slide. The Hot 100's top debut comes from Celine Dion's "Taking Chances" at No. 54. It's her first appearance here since 2003's "I Drove All Night" and nine years to the week that her last No. 1, "I'm Your Angel" with R. Kelly, hit the top. On Hot Country Songs, Carrie Underwood's "So Small" leaps 3-1 to become her fourth chart-topper there. Brad Paisley's "Letter to Me," the third single from his smash album "5th Gear," is the fastest-growing track at radio and jumps 22-18. The Foo Fighters' "The Pretender" begins a 14th week at No. 1 on Modern Rock, and is closing in on tying the record for the longest running chart-topper there. Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," Staind's "It's Been Awhile" and the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Scar Tissue" hold the record with 16 weeks. Seether's "Fake It" is No. 1 on Mainstream Rock for a third week. Quote

Ted Posted November 22, 2007 at 07:36 PM Posted November 22, 2007 at 07:36 PM Here's Billboard article. Celine Takes 'Chances' To The Top In Europe November 22, 2007 - Global By Paul Sexton, London There are new leaders on both of Billboard's pan-European sales charts, as Celine Dion's "Taking Chances" (Columbia) debuts in pole position on Top 100 Albums and "Apologize" (Mosley/Blackground/Interscope) by Timbaland presents One Republic moves 5-1 on Eurochart Top 100 Singles. Dion's album does not lead in any individual market, but arrives at No. 2 in France and Denmark, No. 3 in Austria, No. 4 in Holland, No. 5 in Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom (the latter on sales of 55,000). The title track single is at No. 7 in France and No. 8 in Italy. In May of this year, Dion's French language album "D'Elles" (Columbia) opened at No. 11 on Top 100 Albums after debuting at No. 1 in France and No. 3 in Switzerland. Her last English-language set "Miracle" bowed on Top 100 Albums at No. 8 in October 2004 and peaked the following week at No. 6. The Eagles' "Long Road Out of Eden" (Polydor) thus proves short-lived, so far at least, as a chart-topper on the composite European chart, falling back to No. 2 where it entered two weeks ago. It still holds at No. 1 in Norway but loses ground in other key markets. Nevertheless, "Long Road" stays ahead of high-profile new entries to the overall survey from Alicia Keys and Led Zeppelin and, further down the top ten, the Spice Girls and Leona Lewis. Keys' "As I Am" (J) comes in at No. 4 after starting in runner-up spot in Holland, No. 3 in Italy, No. 6 in Germany and No. 7 in Portugal. Its U.K. release was not until Monday, and it is on course to debut in or close to the top ten this weekend, according to midweek sales data. Zeppelin's Warner Bros. compilation "Mothership," meanwhile, enters at No. 4 on Top 100 Albums. Its best debut is at No. 2 in Norway (behind the Eagles), followed by No. 4 in the United Kingdom (with opening sales of 58,000) and in Austria, No. 5 in Ireland and No. 7 in Germany. Eros Ramazotti's "E2" (Ariola), which moved 3-2 on last week's Top 100 Albums list, now dips to No. 5, despite holding at No. 1 in Italy and Greece and climbing 7-6 in Portugal. Also moving down the pan-European top ten is Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black" (Universal Island), 3-6 overall despite an 18-4 spurt in Greece. The Spice Girls' "Greatest Hits," released by Virgin ahead of the reunited quintet's upcoming world tour, opens at No. 7 on the aggregate survey. It's in at No. 2 in the United Kingdom with sales of 75,000. The new single from the set, "Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)," enters at No. 2 in Italy and No. 3 in Sweden. Initial U.K. digital sales were lowly, despite the track being the official single of the BBC's Children In Need telethon Nov. 16. It dipped 20-23 last weekend but will rebound on Sunday following this week's physical release. The group's tour begins Dec. 2 in Vancouver. Die Ärzte's "Jazz Ist Anders" (Hot Action) falls from last week's No. 5 debut on Top 100 Albums to No. 8, although it holds at No. 1 in Germany and No. 2 in Austria. North London vocalist Leona Lewis' "Spirit" (Syco Music/Sony BMG) follows its record-breaking No. 1 start on the U.K. chart (with best-ever opening sales for a debut artist of 375,000) with a No. 9 entry on the composite tally, also helped by a No. 1 bow in Ireland. Westlife's "Back Home" (Sony/BMG) falls 6-10 in its second week on Top 100 Albums. "Apologize" makes its run to No. 1 on the Eurochart after opening at the top in Germany, and climbing 7-3 in Austria. It's also No. 1 for a second week in Sweden and holds at No. 2 in Norway and No. 3 in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Denmark. It also climbs 7-3 in Austria.
