I was about to post this same link. Thanks a lot for the info. I think this page gives more reliable numbers and that the methodology used really takes into account sales data from all markets.

The Billboard European album chart is NOT ABOUT SALES! It'S about points. So it's possible, that Céline is number 1 even if Leona or Alicia sold more than her in Europe this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, yeah. That's why the rest of the top10 albums including Leona, Alicias, Eagles... all sold more than the #1 album on the chart. If points is not based on sales, I don't know what else it's based on. Is the album chart based on air play or fans request or maybe buzz on internet? You just made me wanna laugh out loud.

When I last looked at the Billboard 200 chart TC was at number three this week, only behind Alicia Keys and Josh Groban! I also noticed it was showing up as a popular new selling album on Amazon.

That makes 105.000 albums. So we still need 287.000

She sold (and these are very kind estimations) maybe 50.000 in Germany/Austria/Switzerland, 20.000 in Italy, 30.000 in Skandinavia, 20.000 in Belgium, Netherlands. 10.000 in Ireland and Portugal, Which leaves Eastern Europe. In Poland she's 21, in Hungary 38 and I don't expect higher positions in other European markets.... Maybe we can add 15.000 for Greece and 40.000 for Eastern Europe...

 

That makes 185.000 . SO we still need over 100.000 copies. Where do you get them from? And again my estimations are very kind!

I totally agree with you, Manilou, and yes, your estimations are very kind. And the world sales truly do not indicate all sales from all over the world. Yesterday I spoke to a forum member from Argentina, and he just bought the album because it took one week for them to get it, and it was in the capital city, Buenos Aires. Then, Australian sales were really slow, just under 6000. Then, why is it not possible for Celine to sell under 100000 in the rest of the small markets? It's totally possible. In the end, all of us really do not and will never know an exact number, but the most important is that we are supporting her and buying her stuff.

You are very right! Yesterday I was discussing overall sales with a friend over the phone and I told him that it was great that Fergie had sold over 5 million albums all over the world. He said "What??? Are you %$%(% crazy?? That's a flop. Blah Blah" And I told him that like many many people they are stuck in the 90s. Paula Abdul's "Forever Your Girl" had five Top 10 hits and was certified 13 million. Why? People bought the album and they did not have lots of resources to get her music as we do have today. For me, a 5 million album worldwide nowadays is like a 10 to 12 million seller in the 90s.

Yeah, these days you just can't sell many as many albums as in the 80s or 90s with all these free downloads and pirated CDs...

 

And don't forget: Céline sells very well in Asia BUT the big percentage of these albums she sells in Asia are pirates... There are so many pirated albums in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Philippines etc. etc. etc.... That's why it decreases a LOT the real sales of the original releases... sad but true...

The same goes for Poland. Tunisia, Egypt and Russia/former USSR countries...

Even if you don't have the internet you can go to the nearest market place in your city there and buy the pirated album for very little money...

 

 

And an another thing:

 

I would love if you stop calling Alicia Keys a "b*tch" and her album "a piece of crap"!!!!

She's a really tallented person, I really like her new album!!!

 

And even if you don't like her, her music or just her recent album - just show ome respect and control your tongue, ok?? Otherwise you show a bad attitude of yourself.
