Céline themed movies: "Aline/The Voice Of Love" and "Celine before Celine"

Ohlala, I've seen it !!!!!!!

It's a nice movie, a very nice movie. Not a Lifetime movie. But much better. Not that I have ever seen a Lifetime movie. But this one is definitely the kind I would like to rewatch.

I don't know if what I will say next are spoilers or not. Well, you know Céline's life but not the film Aline.

What is different with the character of Aline is that she seems coy during the whole film. I thought she would be shy and childlike during her childhood and then become more exuberant. But she remains quite shy and childlike even as an adult.

She doesn't seem to be particularly happy when Guy-Claude unexpectedly arrives at Eurovision.

The family is very important in the film, especially in the first part. Aline is almost a secondary character.

There are scenes that are famous episodes of Céline's life that are portrayed differently on purpose in order to make us laugh. And other moments that are very faithful but that only fans will know that they are true.

The interview in which she says she's deeply in love but can't tell who it is is famous in Québec but not very famous in France and many people laughed on that moment. I think I was the only one in the room to be moved because I knew it was a real moment of Céline's life.

The ending is a let-down. It's farfetched and hurried. It could have been more emotional, had she taken the time.

Her husband dies so rapidly. They never mentioned he was sick, or so rapidly that I didn't grasp it. She walks downtown and is mistaken for a lookalike of herself. The team don't see her coming and cancel the concert. And she's on stage singing Ordinaire. Hey, what happened? I thought the concert was cancelled.

The first song is "Ordinaire" by Robert Charlebois. The last is "Ordinaire" by Aline / Victoria Sio. The end credits songs are "Natural Boy" and "I'm Alive".

Did you cry in some scenes in the film?

Almost. Some people may have cried. The scenes that can make you cry are romantic scenes, not sad ones. I guess the ending will not make you cry.

Thank you so much for your thoughts on this movie, it's been driving me crazy trying to think how they would get these two back together after he runs off. Hope she dosent stay mad at him for to long. Thanks again

And also

Before a concert, Guy-Claude said "Let's not tell her that her father has died." and after the concert he said "We could have cancelled the concert tonight".

I thought "what an as***le ! You didn't want to tell her in the first place !"

Lucky you! I really want to watch it. They should release it on Apple TV/iTunes but I understand why they keep on pushing in theaters. I can’t wait! They should have at least released a soundtrack album of this film.

Yes. I would almost suggest for those who can to watch it with a French audience to hear the many laughs. I'm not saying the jokes will be lost in translation but the reading might make it less funny.

When the mother says "Céline is listened to in the Vatican", the way the members repeat Vatican is hilarious.

Balao, thank you for using the spoiler feature. It is much appreciated.

I can imagine the joy of seeing this in Quebec or France, etc. etc.

Valerie seems quite droll and deadpan in all of her appearances, but very thoughtful. It's such a difference from Celine who is incredibly animated.

Rhetorical question… but can Team Céline please hire Gaumont to promo her next album? Because they’re doing a bang up job getting this film out there.

I just watched the movie on a stream i didn’t understand it because i dont speak french tbh i feel it didnt tell a great story of celines life like that 2008 movie was more accurate. Also if anyone saw it what was the ending i didnt understand it it shows Aline lying in bed in some random person’s apartment then leaving then she goes back on stage and sings then it ends

where did you get the see this movie?

You certainly don't want to watch that. I'm 99% sure it was shot at the premiere in Grand Rex. You can hear the big reverberation, the reactions of a fan audience and also the screen is not centered and very dim and you can't see the bottom of it.

You are not doing yourself a favour by spoiling the experience of watching it in a movie theater or on your TV set in a good definition and with subtitles, which will eventually happen.

Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....

Please don't watch the movie on streaming sites in CAM quality. The movie wasn't made to be seen and enjoyed like that. I always put myself in the shoes of the people who created the movie , don't ruin the experience .

You will not enjoy a pirated cam shot at movie theaters. It loses the beauty of the movie.

Watching the movie, very funny, some parts are disconnected from Celine's story.

Best part I found was Aline's childhood and youth.

It will be difficult to find an actress who does the same moves and style as Celine.

Why is that pirated link still here?!

Here’s another interview with Valerie, where she confirms some of Rene’s family have seen and liked it (or at least think he’d have liked it), as has Scott Price and Luc Plamondon.

"Certaines couturières ne faisaient que coudre des perles, des sequins et du strass et il y a même l’actrice Sigourney Weaver qui est venue coudre quelques perles, car l’actrice américaine est la meilleure amie de Catherine Leterrier !"

What? Sigourney Weaver worked on a costume. She's like in every iconic movie ! :-D

And she speaks French, right? She was in that episode of Call My Agent (10%). Very cool indeed.
