BTW, do we know who this French manager is of Celine’s that Valérie keeps referencing? The one who apparently said she’s reluctant to show Céline the movie for fear it’ll make her cry (but who OK’d the production)?

 

Also, according to this (about 48 min in) the call has been out for some time for songs for a new French album.

122 671 tickets sold in France including 69 094 tickets sold before the first day for the many screenings in advance. 692 copies of the film are distributed.

Very possible. My take from Valérie’s commentary is that it’s either a local agent or a Sony France A&R person.

Which is what Valérie has been saying all along. Which is why it’s Aline, not Céline.

They say "correct but no big enthusiasm" for the box-office. I hate to spoil the party but maybe they expected slightly better results. "Palais Royal" sold over 800 000 tickets during the first week. We'll have to pay attention to the second week because maybe the movie will not appeal to non-fans or on the contrary attracts a larger audience thanks to the good reviews. We'll have to compare to "Bac Nord" and "Eiffel" which maintained a good box-office after the first week.

Well, if it beats the other films out right now I think that's cause for celebration. Comparing it to old films by the same person is a bit strange, but I do like the data.

 

I think that people are still quite cautious about going to the movie theatre. I don't think I would go into a movie theatre right now, but I know many are going.

I’ve seen it today and I have to say I am very pleasantly surprised! I loved the moovie, it is bit of French art, Celinish corniness, and gayfriendlubsoap opera of the real life story!

 

Czech critics gave the movie only 50% but IMO o would fine it 78%

 

Loved almost everything about it. The only weird thing would be the voice of Lemercier when Celine was a little girl.

I saw Aline yesterday. It s tender, nice, sometimes sad. A lot of mistakes but not a problem. I cried when they recreated Céline 2008 tour in the stadium (singing Sola otra vez as if she were in Sao Paulo^^). It made me think what if she never Comes back...

My friend in Hong Kong saw promo there too, it will be in theatres on Nov 25th. Will definitely have English subtitles too.

Not to take away any excitement that the rest of you on this forum have about this movie, but sorry I am just really not feeling this movie @ all... I know it is NOT CELINE in this movie, & Aline/Valerie WILL NEVER "fill" Celines high-heeled shoes (pun intended lol haha,) so I am gonna pass on this (especially as a French-language movie, it most likely will NOT be shown in American theaters anytime soon, or if ever,) so I would not be able to see it in theaters anyway as I live here in America lol... Ah well... 😊✌

I remember i posted a japanese trailer of this movie. So it will be released as well in japan. Maybe in japanese subs?
