I find it funny that two of those are recent singles.... her career is no way over in France!

The Voice Kids (France) - contestant performs acoustic version of Encore un soir!

 

The first evening of the blind auditions of "The Voice Kids" season 4 continues. It's Pauline's turn to "popo" for the intimates, 13 years, to present an acoustic version of the title of Celine Dion: "One more night." A choice for this shy and gentle girl who is willingly hiding behind his instrument. After a perfect performance, the girl saw Jenifer's chair turn round. Welcome "Paupau" in The Voice Kids. "The Voice Kids" season 4 is every Saturday from 9 pm on TF1 and every day on MYTF1.

When other singles were released, say, those released before 2000, the singles chart was a Top 50, then a Top 75 and so on. By that time single sales were healthier and hence, the singles chart was more competitive. By mid 2000s, with CD single sales decreasing and fewer CD singles releases some popular artists could easily debut at #1 and remain on the chart for many weeks despite a low popularity of the song staying on the sales chart on the strength of a big fan base who bought the single. Now with digital sales is almost the same because they are not big in France. Now, you have to factor in streaming to have the real picture of popularity.

So you get this gorgeous CD single at home, and when you play this unique, precious song, all I can say is: what the hell is doing Sony Music and Céline not releasing videoclips of her songs, since 2013??? It's SO annoying, and they will regret not having a graphic memento of this era sooner or later!

 

I'm so excited to have a physical copy of the song in my hands, but sooo disappointed and mad at the fact that they couldn't care less about doing a nice videoclip of this single. We don't even have a TV performance, like she did with Les yeux au ciel (at least that's something)

It's a promotional CD single. These are not available for sale in regular stores, they're just sent to radios and press in very limited quantities these days... Luckily they still produce them, though not with the best quality as in the golden days.

 

We're really lucky that they released 4 singles in this physical format from the Encore un soir album!

How time flies! I still can remember listening to the first audio clips and previews of Ordinaire and Ma faille on Amazon a year ago by the beach! And then the full version of Á la plus haute branche leaked -the feeling of a great quality album was coming by then :wub:

 

This album surpassed with great marks my expectatives, to me is much much better than Sans attendre. What about you?

This album also holds very personal and emotional memories to me. Last Summer was something to remember and Celine's francophone tour and Encore Un Soir were the soundtrack to it.

 

I consider this one of her finest albums to date, but not as personal as Sans Attendre.

I cannot believe it is one year old today. It really has been my anthem this year, with my first year of college and my first real long term job. I love this album and I still love every song to this day like as it was brand new. It really is a masterpiece and I think Céline did amazing with it

i have listened to sans attendre the other day and it is true that Encore un soir is much better. There is no Si c'était à refaire on the other album, a true classic. And Tant de temps is still my favorite ...

Exactly ONE YEAR ago today, the Encore un soir era began and Celine made her triumphant return to the French music scene with the critically and commercially acclaimed Encore un soir. The album was her first new music since the loss of Rene and it was a smash on the charts. The album sold over 1.1m copies worldwide - confirming Celine as the most successful veteran female album seller alive - and it would see her reach the following milestones...

 

Charts

• 16th #1 album in France (she's had another one since though - yes, that's right - a 2nd #1 album in less than a year). Encore un soir's first week at #1 also represented her 104th week at #1 on the French albums chart, meaning that since she scored her first #1 album in France in 1995 with D'eux, Celine had spent 2 years at #1. That figure has since risen to 112 weeks when you factor in Encore un soir's overall chart run and the 3 weeks Un peu de nous spent at #1.
  
• 14th #1 album in Belgium (Wallonia) - her 85th week at #1 in Belgium (Wallonia) since 1995. It was the #1 best-selling album of the year in Belgium and was certified platinum.
  
• 12th #1 album in Switzerland - her 51st week at #1 in Switzerland since 1995. It was the #7 best-selling album of the year in Switzerland and was certified platinum.
  
• 15th #1 album in Canada - her 33rd week at #1 in Canada since 1993. It was the #8 best-selling album of the year in Canada and was certified double platinum.
  
• In addition to those 4 core markets, the album would also chart in the following countries (peak position in brackets): Taiwan Western (#1), Czech (#2), Italy (#3), Poland (#6), Korea Intl (#6), Netherlands (#7), Portugal (#13), Austria (#15), Germany (#16), Spain (#18), Hungary (#20), Greece (#32) & UK (#88). Disappointingly, the album failed to impact the BB200 in the US, meaning a top 200 French album in the US continues to elude her; however, she did chart at #96 on the US Top Album Sales chart.
  

Sales

• In France, the album debuted with 216,555 copies sold in week one (208,069 in physical sales and 8,486 in downloads) - the highest one week sales tally ever achieved by a female artist in French chart history. The album was certified diamond in November 2016 and has to date sold a whopping 720,000 copies.
  
• We do not know opening week sales in Belgium, but it is currently certified platinum. We can estimate total sales of at least 50,000-55,000 copies meaning it's eligible for double platinum.
  
• In Switzerland, the album is currently certified platinum and though we do not know its opening week sales tally, we can estimate overall sales of around 30,000 meaning it's eligible for double platinum.
  
• In Canada, the album debuted with 60,125 copies; it was the only album released in 2016 to score double platinum status and was therefore the top-certified album of the year with more than 160,000 copies sold (beating out other Canadian acts like Drake and Michael Buble - who "only" managed to achieve single platinum status). Of its opening week sales tally of 60,125, it sold 57,085 of those copies in Quebec - this sum was higher than the following 99 albums combined.
  
• The album has sold more than 1.1m copies worldwide - the top-selling release by a veteran female artist of 2016; during its opening week, it beat out the likes of Barbra Streisand, Britney Spears and Florida Georgia Line to become the #1 selling album of the week according to MediaTraffic.
  

The lead single - also titled Encore un soir - was the fastest-selling single of the year and it would become her 6th #1 single in France! By year-end, the song had become the 5th biggest-selling single of the year - proof that not only was this woman still a hit maker in her 35th year in music, but that she could also score a massive #1 without worrying about streaming. All of this without an official video (to this day, we still only have the audio video - not even a lyric video):

Concerts

 

In addition to the above, she also performed a summer tour which saw her perform live from mid June until the end of August in support of her new album - she performed 28 sold-out shows in Belgium, France and Canada, broken down thus...

In addition to the shows above, she performed 2 sold-out shows in Trois-Rivières for charity, raising $1.7m bringing the total gross for the summer tour to almost $50m.

I love this album so much and I listen to it a lot. So along with D'elles album, I brought Encore un Soir with me to Paris and was lucky to get it autographed by Céline (and D'elles as well)

Agree, I never liked SA BUT!! preparing for my concerts in Paris I did start to listen to SA again. I hadn't really listened since the year it was released and I'm actually liking it a lot now. Not my favorite album but I adore some songs on it

L'amour Peut Prendre Froid is probably my absolute favorite song on the that album. I just love it so so much but I love Parler à Mon Père too.
