Oi! Don't mess with GTSW videoclip, the last video where we got one of the best looking and sexiest Céline we ever had! And with an alternate scene in the bathroom released years later! When were we spoiled that much with a videoclip?

 

I'd die today to have ANYTHING close to GTSW videoclip instead of the usual bunch of crap we always get of Céline staying still in front of a setting just moving her arms and head and that's it.

Well, in all fairness, Xpresso got a point : in France EUS sold almost as much as SA ( and it will match SA sales in a near future...) with 0 MV vs 3 for SA Era.

Anyway, I don't know any singer that has said he/she doesn't do music videos anymore because they don't do any good to the music or because they're useless. Let alone in an era where media and instant share of media content is in vogue 24/7 at every second in every social network. It's like going against all trends and logic here.

 

Music has never been more consumed and shared before as today, with the boom of social networks, and public supports this share of music by showing videos of the music, where possible. Precisely, the so called "lyric videos" were born in response to the avid need of having some form of graphic image that could illustrate the music, while the official videoclip was being done So if only, music videos can only help to support the music and promote it further. Hence, that only means good.

 

They're going against all logic here, and I'm sure they'll regret this absence of videos sooner or later when they look back to this era of her career and find they didn't release any videos to accompany the music.

 

Of course, rest assured that by not doing any video at all is the best way not to know if the single/album would have done and perform even better than without it . And it's the most convenient stance both for Celine and Sony: doing nothing for her new music, as always

Just read that last few pages again, maybe you will understand what the point was...

I very well understand, and what I see is some of you try to "excuse" Sony/Celine for not doing any videos, while I just argue some reasons why videos are needed and only provide positive results in 99% of cases You must only come up with a very disgusting, controversial or annoying videoclip that in result it damages the artist or the music (and not even in this case this only gives more publicity to the music).

 

Your point was that releasing videos for this album can't prove it brings more sales for the album. My point is that not releasing them can't prove the contrary either, and more probably, it would only help the album and the singles to get more attention, and then that translates in more sales.

 

But since I've never been concerned in sales (not that I acknowledge it's the main focus of Sony Music), I will add that there are still many artists out there that still release music not only from a business perspective, but also as a way of expressing art and creativity. And here's where Céline fails again, given that not only she doesn't make videos because Sony is not interested or doesn't invest in them anymore, but also because from an artistic point of view, they don't care at all. And that's also another valid reason for releasing videoclips today, not just for making money and from a pure business side (as apparently it's the only aim between Céline-Sony Music)

 

What I'm trying to say is that there are still artists out there who are first and above all, artists, and by definition, they use every possibility to express their art, having a budget in between OR not. If a singer wants to show a song with a video today, there are tons of possibilities to do so, and very cheap (if an amateur singer can do this, the more Céline Dion, with 30 years of career can do it). And then there are other artists which are just a product for their record label, and only mean a money-maker name for their record label. Unfortunately, Celine comes in the latter group.

 

And like I said, it has nothing to do with having a budget or a record label that invests in you. Céline Dion is not a beginner or a wannabe singer in her first days. If SHE wanted, she could have one video done for each and every track of her album. It just takes a little will... and passion for what you do. But we know that once Céline leaves the recording studio, all she cares about is performing live (and not even the new songs she has just recorded). This is when the problem starts from, and when all our dreams and expectations start to vanish...

 

And yes, I know some of you will say now that her priorities changed and all that and blah blah blah. Okay. I can even accept that probably she's not interested in recording new music today as she was before, and that her work starts and finishes in the recording studio, and the strictly obliged promotion that she is asked to do for TV. I'll even take that probably the reason why we don't have videos it's because Celine is simply uninterested in doing them anymore. But please, let's not excuse her with things such as "she has no time", "it costs lots of money to do a video" or even questioning the utility and benefits of videoclips today, because that's simply indefensible

But of course! What's contradictory is that she has an inexhaustible force for doing concerts and performing hundreds of concerts month after month, year after year, one being an exact replica of the previous, and she can't find the time to show the world these bunch of new songs with at least one single performance, call it doing a videoclip, a home made performance, whatever.

 

Do you remember the "Winter Song" video they prepared in December? How much effort does that cost? How much doses of interest she put into that, that she can't find in showing the new music she records and she sistematically ignores? Well the same she could do with any of these French songs. Whatever...

 

Don't you find all of this a little bit odd? Contradictory to say the least...? Because I do

I'm happy with many things dear, starting with the upcoming tour, the new French album and having 5 singles released from this album... (something that hasn't happened since 1998 btw and few to none noticed here). But that doesn't mean I cannot speak my mind and state what I think it's indefensible.

Sounds like the promo for that album isn't finish yet... last week they made LYAC a new single w/o doing anything else. But i'm still hopefull that TeamCeline and Sony wake up and realize that there isnt on single music video for this album! Its crazy!! Was René the only one pushing for music videos!?

thats one of her very best videos ever (for me its maybe even THE BEST) its just perfect in every way and fits the song so well. The song, too, is amazing and beautiful. The instruments, the way she sings, the honest emotion in her voice, everything is 100% spot on, pure perfection and perfectly well produced. I love it. I even dare say that the song is not just a song accompained with a video, its an experience. Its so deep and beautiful. Im a big fan. If something good brought GTSW being chosen as a single, that was the absolutely GREAT videoclip they made of it. It wasn't the best single to be sent to radios, but it's one of the best videos (and hottest looks) she has done in her career
