ryba Posted February 20, 2017 at 05:25 PM Posted February 20, 2017 at 05:25 PM 2017. People still chasing after physical singles!I mean seriously? Even digital singles are getting very low numbers now... Soon ITunes won't exist anymore and people on this board will still want physical supports. "L'étoile" as a third single is the first one since I don't know when to get a top60 airplay in France ( so far). However I think "Tu sauras" would be the perferct final single for the summer along with a music video (if they still know what it is)... it will be perfect as soundtrack of the tour. it's fresh and very summer-ich. But as usual Sony is messing up : Zaho released her new album last week, she is quite everywhere... talking about Céline ... they should have capitalized on it as they're unable to promote their stuff themselves. They even showed "Tu sauras" recording sessions. .. probably from the documentary we never got (that lays now beside Phil spector's songs, EUS music video , live to love full version and many more...). OMG!!!! Where can we see the recording of Tu Sauras? Quote

Would a music video for EUS have done the same (or help sell the album more)? I don't think so. Yes, all that gives her exposure, but at the end of all days when we look back to each album and era, it's the material she leaves us what we will look for, including music videos and music performances of the songs she has recorded in her albums. And from EUS she's giving barely anything of this (only performances of EUS and one unique performance of Les yeux au ciel for TV). That's her legacy, not changing her wardrobe 5 times a day while she's in Paris or attending the next catwalk We've got two singles already that have none performances to be seen -Si c'était a refaire and L'etoile- or to use any graphic material of her singing the songs, in order to promote them in social media It's so stupid the attitude they have toward music videos. It's not only for what means releasing them today, it's for what will count having these material tomorrow. And that's not to mention that all the fashion exposure she had in Paris or in magazines or with a future fashion line, that won't give any credit to her as a singer or an artist who is supposed to evolve and show where she can go still with her voice. I'm not against her doing whatever she wants with fashion, beauty, attending fashion catwalks or whatever, but I'm totally against her stagnation as a singer/performer. Where did the ambitious Céline that wanted to record in other languages, doing a Spanish album, a jazz album etc... Where did that all go? I can't find that ambition in her wanting to go all the way with that supposed fashion "exposure". So no matter we get a new videoclip or not these days, it can't be denied that's some little piece of art that will be much more appreciated and cherished than having the next ultimate picture of Céline dressing fashionably. Nobody will remember that in 40-50 years, but maybe some will remember and may want to find a nice videoclip where she performs that one song... that was highly successful in French radios but inexplicably it had no video testimony of it Edited February 20, 2017 at 10:39 PM by Javito Quote "Hush, now... CSCfan Posted February 21, 2017 at 08:48 AM Posted February 21, 2017 at 08:48 AM Yes, all that gives her exposure, but at the end of all days when we look back to each album and era, it's the material she leaves us what we will look for, including music videos and music performances of the songs she has recorded in her albums. In the end, it's the music she records that last. Not even music videos... you can also see that on YouTube, not all of her videos or on there and some even get deleted after a while. Her musical repertoire is already huge, just like her legacy. She doesn't have to prove where she can still go with her voice, because she already has and she continues to do so with all the shows she's giving and the material she's still recording. Compared to the other (female) singers of her generation, she's already WAY above them. She has a "legend" status now, not a " best new artist" status. She has already earned enough credit. Once again, this isn't the '90's anymore. Where did the ambitious Céline that wanted to record in other languages, doing a Spanish album, a jazz album etc... Where did that all go? I can't find that ambition in her wanting to go all the way with that supposed fashion "exposure". All in good time.. it's still there....she's not done yet. There's more ambition in her these past 2 years, than there has been before, she just can't do everything at once. She does what she wants to do, when she does it, and you just have to accept it. And also that she can't do everything she wants to do, just like you can't or every other human being. 1 Quote »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» MATHIAS ««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzPrxI0AIDY
Javito Posted February 21, 2017 at 09:48 AM Posted February 21, 2017 at 09:48 AM (edited) Who knows, probably you're right and we'll see more of an artist in the next years than the performer who keeps doing the same thing year after year. I really hope so. It has nothing to do with being in the 90's or not. It's about the inner curiousity she may still have -or not inside her, the spark that is still inside her to keep singing This has been discussed here before, some regard Céline more as a performer than a true artist (and not just because she doesn't write her own songs), and though I believe there's a true artist inside her, she shows very little of that side so far (especially when she insists in recording/performing songs by others everywhere she goes). This has nothing to do with the 90's, it's about what she wants to show as an artist and as a singer and what she's done and what she thinks she should do to keep her name relevant in the public. So far, she's been years and years performing hundreds of concerts doing the same thing time after time, but she can't keep doing that same thing forever There's that inescapable feeling of stagnation about her music career since the early 00s that many fans agreed she broke when last year, after more than 20 years without retrieving any old song from her albums, she performed for the very first time some songs of her that she had never performed before. That was an encouraging moment and we have to be thankful for that, but hey, it costed 20 years to see, since the Olympia concert!!! Until then, every show and concert she's done she has always played safe and repeating the old formula -always singing the same program, barely taking any risks. But this is not limited to her tours and shows (that's only a part of her career). Her legacy, as you say, is mostly in the recordings she offers, and we can be proud to say that we are fans of an artist that has an extremely wide discography. But most of them are an exact replica of the precedent album, with the exception of very few albums, like Taking Chances or ANDHC, which stand out alone because of their own style. She needs more of these albums -I don't mean the same style, but she needs that jazz album, that Spanish album, that *put whatever new style she hasn't done before here*. She can't be always doing the same thing and expect to get recognition from the industry today. And no, saying that "this is not the 90's anymore" it's not an excuse. If there's a name in the industry who can record anything she wants, have the production team she wants, and hire the recording studio she wants, that's Céline. But you can't hide behind that "I don't have to prove anything anymore" thing forever, because it can turn against you She is a young artist still, and that's one more reason to defend that she needs to keep offering and trying new things. To me there's no doubt that the career of an artist must show some evolution in order to be fresh and relevant. Yes, she has the status legend but she can't capitalise on that doing always the same things. She has to explore new artistic worlds soon and, precisely because "she doesn't have to prove anything", that's one more reason to show the public that she can do other new and different things than what she did in the 90's Edited February 21, 2017 at 09:59 AM by Javito Quote "Hush, now... I want albums to be as coherent as possible. There have been singers to include several English songs in their Spanish albums, for instance, and these albums appeared to be like a mixed bag to me. I also think that Celine is the most successful bilingual singer because her English album releases never really integrated with the French ones and vice versa. 3 Quote

I think it's a fantastic idea, René should've done this a long time ago. What always "annoyed" me, was that she's hailed as Quebec's ambassador to the world (same as René) and help "spread the French word", but in real life, they've always seperated both worlds completely (not talking about rare occasions). IMO they should've, or they still could, release a double CD: one with new English tracks and one with new French tracks. This way general fans will get to know the *other Céline* the easiest and best way, especially Anglophone listeners. This. IMO, is the best way to promote the French language to the non-French world. And maybe record some more bilingual songs like "Tous Les Bleus" and "I Believe In You". 2 Quote »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» MATHIAS ««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzPrxI0AIDY
