As of February 2017 EUS has sold 1.1 million in physical sale. It's a FRENCH album.

 

Compared to these ENGLISH albums, EUS has done very very well in my opinion:

Beyonce 2.5 million

Adele 2.4 million

Drake 2.3 million

And Pentatonix in 10th place with 1.4

 

All albums in English and we know that English albums always do way better than albums in other language.

 

So 1.1 million is awesome!! :)

Probably yes. But this numbers need to be updated.

Since 1999 that is annouced that "Falling Into You" have sold 32 million copies worldwide and "Let's Talk About Love" 31.5 millions. Celine keeps selling so this numbers are certainly higher.

"Les yeux au ciel" entered today the Canadian AC chart at #50.

It's the fourth song from the album to enter the AC chart.

I thought it was a promo single in France only...

Hopefully they will not. How many flop singles in France can an album take?

 

Si C'etait A Refaire #100

L'etoile #191

Les Yeux Au Ciel #169

 

It might not be commercially damaging for the label, but it is rather pointless to be releasing singles when radio support is and downloading are non-existent.

It is down to the fact that radios do not support her. And in the case of LYAC, which was performed twice in France, the public didn't care.

 

Of course the quality of the album is irrelevant to what we're discussing, you know how much I love EUS and basically every song in it. :yes:

I disagree somewhat.... before her French albums come out the first single usually does really well... when the album is out... that's when the singles don't do so well beucase everyone has already purchased the songs...

What you have just said (which is true by the way) also confirms what I said in the first place... that it is pointless to release another single right now...

Releasing the new single could attract other people who still haven't purchased the album, but without a proper promotion (video and radio) it's pointless. I also think it's a bit too late for that.

It is a combination of reasons which explain why a new single would flop. In no particular order:

 

1.Lack of airplay.

 

2.Lack of TV appearances and promotion in general.

 

3.People have already bought the album.

 

4.The album seems to have completed its commercial run by that point.

 

And maybe there is more... My problem is that it bothers to have amazing and catchy songs released as singles and do nothing on charts. :mellow:

Lack of video and promotion.

 

Too bad she does not do a TV performance while launching a new single.

 

But she has a lot to do.

 

Anyway the album is already a big success and shall become a classic of a repertoire :-)

It's a shame L'étoile is not going to have not even a playback performance on TV as a graphic testimony of this song. The live version of the tour doesn't make any justice to the album version sorry, and here's when I remember again how much needed are videos of her performing each song (particularly the singles) either professional videoclips or playback performances on TV. But having none of them is such nosense and stupid :down:

If they release a new single, it has to be something most people would have no clue it's Céline... Something like TU SAURAS!!!

I'm pretty sure radios would support a song like that! Céline needs to surprise people.

Well if the release of the live CD is confirmed, they could promote it with the sole song from EUS not released as a single yet, i.e. A Vous ^_^ :)

These are three of Celine's longest-charting singles in France:

 

1. Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore - 71 weeks

2. Parler à mon père - 63 weeks

3. Encore un soir - 59 weeks

 

I don't know about other artists...
