meanttofly Posted September 9, 2016 at 09:23 AM Posted September 9, 2016 at 09:23 AM Anyone misses more songs on the standard edition of the album? SA had 14 songs (16 songs in the deluxe) and EUS has 12. I wish we knew what leads them to include more or less songs each time, jumping from 12 to 14 and then to 12 again They should have taken advantage of the anticipation of the tour and make a standard edition with all 14 new songs and a real deluxe with live versions from Paris for Immensité, Je t'aime encore and Encore un soir, plus 3:20. That would be a thoughtful release!Btw L'etoile was a perfect opening track for this album. 1 Quote
Javito Posted September 9, 2016 at 09:56 AM Posted September 9, 2016 at 09:56 AM I still think Plus qu'ailleurs is perfect where it is. There's not a better opener in the album. Javito Posted September 9, 2016 at 10:21 AM Posted September 9, 2016 at 10:21 AM And full of boring duets. Haha well I must be one of the few fans who enjoy all the 3 duets included in SA Each one of them has something to me, specially the one with Jean Pierre Ferland, whose lyrics are out of this world . But I will agree that 3 duets in one album are just too much. And that leads me to say that one of the best things that enhance this new EUS album and that makes it BIG is simply that it doesn't include any duet, and hence it concentrates only in Céline's voice for a change! It was a nice absence this time 2 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

It was a nice absence this time Two of the three duets are very beautiful songs. L'amour peut prendre froid is the closest song to a english power ballad (though her voice is not natural I think) and une chance qu'on s'a is a masterpiece (lyrics, music and voice). Anyway I prefer having a song sung by celine only. Unless it's a duet with another favorite artist of mine. EUS is just perfect without duets. Every song is interesting in its own way but some are better than others. 2 Quote

Taking Chances Posted September 9, 2016 at 11:16 PM Posted September 9, 2016 at 11:16 PM My review of Encore un soir. I waited to review the album until I had listened to it several times to actually know what I really think of it. Ive listen to it everyday since it came out now, and here’s my review: Plus qu'ailleurs - In my head opening tracks to an album is usually a little bit more happy than an ending track and the opening track should make you excited to listen to whats the second track, and kind of set the tone to the album and give you a preview of the feel of the album. However, this could kind of be the closing track to the album as well. I do love the guitar and soft stringy instruments, and I also like that this song isn’t explosive like I usually want the first track of an album to be. Though, to me this is more of an closing song to an album than an opening song. L'etoile - This is really where I feel like the album begins. This is the track you remember, and once you’ve listened to it - you completely forget about the first track, and this is the perfect follow up track, and with this song the album changes completely. This up beat song makes this album happier and it has an incredibly catchy beat. This track kind of also reminds me a little bit of her second English album Celine Dion. The sound mixing is similar. Celine’s seems kind of younger on this track somehow. Maybe it’s because I feel the Celine Dion album throwback. Ma faille - Celine sings just as perfect as always, but her emotions are somewhat different. It’s like Rene is present on this track. I’m loving the piano and slowed down beat, and then comes the guitar. I’ts all old school instruments and great modern sound mixing. It’s like a soar up the sky. I feel like this is a track of absolute strength and one of my absolute favorites on the album. This should have been the opening track in my opinion. Encore un soir - Celine has never sounded more wounded and three-dimensionally human on a track going from almost laughter to total breakdown and covering every emotion is just 4:23 minutes. How she managed to record this track in the midts of everything she had to deal with is beyond me. When Celine sings he feels better she said. No doubt she does. Perfection! Je nous veux - This track is very easy listening. Which is nice and I like it more the more I listen to it. It’s not an instant «pow» kind of track. Nothing too risky, but I like it a lot and especially towards the ending. It has a powerful haunting feeling. Les yeux au ciel - I am obsessed with this song and how it keeps changing when you listen to it. It’s almost like like two different tracks in one, which makes a little a uneasy to listen to, yet completely addicting. This track sounds like it could be on an english album, and something I definitely would love and english cover of. Si c'etait a refaire - This song reminds me of a little bit of Stand by Your Side. It’s not that ıs’s really similar, but it gives me the same feeling. Just the vibes of song. It builds up and it gets more powerful in the end, yet not as powerful as the other tracks on the album. Yet, this is a track I wouldn’t skip. I haven’t listened to this song a lot, but I feel like this is something I will like more as I listen to it more. Ordinaire - This is so f****** amazing. I loved it instantly, from the first second. The deep dark haunted instruments. And then she begins to sing. This song builds up to the ultimate climax and then the electric guitar bridge takes you to a different world. I feel like this song works so good in French and it’s so powerful. This is kind of the song I want everyone to hear Celine sing, and understand the power it takes to sing such a song. This is heavy, dark and almost scary good. Tu sauras - I love that this song follows up Ordinaire. It’s such a different track, and it starts slow and then it just takes off. What an addicting chorus. Very repetitive, but still very catchy. I love her humming in the second chorus, but then the song ends way too quickly. It’s almost like just a 2/3 of a full song. This could have easily been one minute longer. I feel like it should defenyly have been longer, which is the only thing about this song I dislike. I defiantly want an English version of Tu sauras. Toutes ces choses - This reminds me very much of something off D’elles. More specifically On s'est aime a cause. Which I absolutely love. Yet, I kind of think song is boring. Somehow this album does the same mistakes as Loved Me Back To Life, towards the end the album slows down a lot and falls back into the safe songs. Le bonheur en face - I feel like this is basically the same song as Toutes ces choses. Obviously it isn’t, but nothing special about this one. A nice track. The chorus is nice, but nothing memorable. And these last two songs doesn’t really have a big climatic ending. They are basically the same through the entire tracks, keeping it simple. Though a little too simple. A la plus haute branche - This is no different from Toutes ces choses and Le bonheur en face, but I like it a little bit more because she sings a little bit different, but it’s such a plain level song. No special instruments, no special voice, just very plain and simple. One thing I like about this is the very French vibes to it. Apart from this being a little sadder than Plus qu'ailleurs, this could have been the opening track. And to me, that is the only thing separating it. A vous - My favorite on the album. And it’s on the deluxe version, I really have no idea why they didn’t include this on the standard edition, this song is amazing. I feel like this song should have followed up Tu sauras, which is also my favorite. I can’t seem to make up my mind. This is so fresh, so different and I love the trumpets. Celine wanted people to move to her music, and this is a great start. I want more upbeat stuff on the English album. This is great. And for the people who didn’t like this, I really don’t understand why because It’s not like it’s a trashy track. It’s more modern with a latin/tropical trumpet vibe to it. Ma force - This is more or less like the last three songs on the album (not A Vous). Just a little happier. Reminds me of Contre Nature. To me this album was such a positive surprise, and I loved that it’s so happy and upbeat. I hope we get to see more of this Celine in the future, and I can’t wait to see what the English album will be like. Hopefully it won’t be much like Recovering, but more like this. If she should do some English versions I would love : Tu sauras, A vous, Ordinaire, Ma faille, Encore un soir, L'etoile, Les yeux au ciel even though these are perfect in French! Those are basically my favorites. Her French music has been harder for me to like as easy as her English albums, but this is amazing. 3 Quote

I would die for this song to be actually finally be released in some form or the other. Even if they have to revive it 14 years later, I don't care. I freakin' want this song heard on the radios : Anyone misses more songs on the standard edition of the album? SA had 14 songs (16 songs in the deluxe) and EUS has 12. I wish we knew what leads them to include more or less songs each time, jumping from 12 to 14 and then to 12 again Jav, D'eux/SISDA had 12 songs as well I prefer the Alix Malka pictures than the pictures from Taking Chances shoot. I think that the pics for the TC album had absolutely nothing to do with the songs at all and were highly staged, she looked like the biggest diva out there and it was just highly exaggerated. I didn't like it. Alix Malka makes her look fresh, modern, normal and very up to date. I really love his shoot for the LMBTL album. These pictures are just pure perfection and she looks better than ever. The current shoot for EUS was not bad either. I think it's just a matter of tasteI have the same feeling. I absolutely love Alix Malka's work. He really made her stand out and like the fashionista that she ought to be recognised so as to redeem her from the critique she got back in the days for her fashion choices. Hiring him and Law Roach were some of the best decisions her team has made in a long time. Same goes for Aldo. I still think Plus qu'ailleurs is perfect where it is. There's not a better opener in the album. I can't get out of my head the "et le monde, et les autres, et alors?!" This album has surpassed every expectative I had. Sans attendre is very weak next to this album Oh god.. No! I really really hope they release the music video. It looks really promising to me. I love the idea of the clock!Me too. LVCeline Posted September 10, 2016 at 04:35 AM Posted September 10, 2016 at 04:35 AM Well, it's been out for a couple weeks now and I've listened to it over and over again. What an absolutely stunning album from beginning to end. I've totally warmed up to Plus qu'ailleurs and enjoy it very much at this point. It sets a very nice tone for the album, and yes she gets throaty on the ailleurs and encores, but other than that it's a lovely acoustic sounding song that fits well. I also listened to it from beginning to end while reading the English translations and it definitely brought a new perspective. You can absolutely tell that JJG writes such amazing quality compared to most of the other songs, it's for sure a standout. The man is a creative genius. Another thing I learned from reading along with the lyrics is that I was mistaken about her pronunciation in Ma Faille. I thought the word she says is amour and pronounced it amyeeeewww, but found out the actual word is armure so that was my bad and it's not so weird at this point. 3 Quote

Popular Post Javito Posted September 10, 2016 at 08:13 PM Popular Post Posted September 10, 2016 at 08:13 PM (edited) So two weeks after the album release, I look to the tracklist of the standard edition and I can confidently say that there's not a single song I don't like in this album . Each and every song has got me, even Si c'était à refaire and Plus qu'ailleurs, for which I have doubts since the first play. But after several full plays of the album since the 30th August, I got to love Plus qu'ailleurs, and Si c'était à refaire also has a place in my heart now . To me, that song has to be undertood as a song performed in a lament mode, even in despair. The melody is perfect as it is (again, Jacques Veneruso knows how to set the mood of the music according to the lyrics). So to me, every song in this album from 1 to 12 is just great and each fit in its place. The opening song is perfect, and the closing one is too. I can't find any other songs to replace them in those positions. This has happened to me with a French album of Celine only with C'est pour toi, Dion chante Plamondon, S'il suffisait d'aimer and almost all of 1 fille and 4 types. So I think I've got another full coherent album from Céline, at last . After good efforts but weak attempts with D'elles and Sans attendre. I really appreciate when the selection of songs is made not only with heart but also with sense and using their brains Very few Céline albums in her career fulfill this consistency and coherence. Javito Posted September 11, 2016 at 09:47 AM Posted September 11, 2016 at 09:47 AM (edited) You had me laughing out loud earlier - so funny. It's so true but it's unfortunate because there are always people saying she looks like a man in drag and I'm like noooooo she's beautiful - unfortunately I can't defend that cover! That picture they chose for the album cover was strangely edited. Her chin looks extremely pointy, but we know she doesn't look that bad in other pictures . This is the original shot of the picture featured in the album cover. As you see, she looks much better and natural (please scroll to the bottom of the post, it's the last picture) Also, another mistake of that cover is that they placed Céline on the left of the cover and there's too much empty space on the right. Other than that, I think her hair, poses and attitude in this photoshoot is amazing. But I agree there were many better pictures for the album cover, like these http://img.informador.com.mx/biblioteca/imagen/370x277/121/120257.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y246/colickyboy/celinedion-takingchances.jpg http://metrosource.com.s123317.gridserver.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Celine_Post.jpghttp://www.powerofthemusic.com/images/samp/ebtsd1.jpghttp://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hIT85C2RJ7o/Uywfc-aljlI/AAAAAAAASn8/qg9SPe7O06A/s1600/04.jpg Edited September 11, 2016 at 09:48 AM by Javito 2 Quote "Hush, now...
