scielle Posted August 29, 2016 at 12:04 PM Posted August 29, 2016 at 12:04 PM Only ALPHB, which surprisingly some of you like, is about suicide and doesn't concern Celine herself...Surprisingly? Easily one of the best tunes on this record. 2 Quote
Kian Posted August 29, 2016 at 12:10 PM Posted August 29, 2016 at 12:10 PM Well, I've been listening to the album since Friday and here's my review even though it's hard to write anything new since all of you dissected it to the last note .I agree with so many of you that this album has 1F4T vibe and that's a great thing because it's my fave French album. Inject it with a dose of One Heart album and we have Encore un soir. , the chorus brings something new to Celine repertoire, the way she sings it, the melody, it's familiar but different at the same time. The acoustic guitar and light drumming is perfect in this song. <span style="color: #000000"><span style="font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Verdana, "sans serif"2. I can't understand how can someone says it drags on at the end, it's only couple of seconds longer 5. Je nous veux 9 / 10 6. Les yeux au ciel 9 /10 Another uptempo song and new territory for Celine, but I prefer 7. Si c'était à refaire 4 / 10 8. Ordinaire 6 /10 . The guitar and strings are the only part I like in this. Another great uptempo Zaho song. It's not some artistic achievement some would prefer but I like it a lot, it's cool and new Celine. Just wish the chorus is little less repetitive. Everything else works great for me. Not feeling this one. It belongs to SA album imo. I have a feeling I heard her sing these kind of songs so many times before. Lullaby of this album. Next! When it started I had a feeling I won't like but then the chorus kicked in and changed that feeling completely. Lovely little track. I wouldn't pick it as a single but it's nice album track and I wouldn't skip it. I like it but it's too sad for me to listen to it every time. This album gives me such an energetic feeling and this song ruins that momentum for me. It IS beautiful song, I just have to be in the moment to appreciate it. Can someone remind me why is this bonus track? I don't care if it fits an album or not, it deserves to be on the standard edition. SO different than all the other French songs she ever recorded. Great uptempo beat and song that makes you go dancing and going crazy. And don't drive while listening to this 14. Ma force 9 / 10 15. Trois heures vingt 10 /10 . Quote

Easily one of the best tunes on this record. It's so monotonous that I see nothing gorgeous about it. The only change in melody is in 2min07 and even with those few guitar accords it's the same piano tune all the time. Masterfully crafted? It's so simple, almost on one instrument that it wasn't hard to craft. For me the most boring song on this great record. maria_k Posted August 29, 2016 at 12:16 PM Posted August 29, 2016 at 12:16 PM I was about to ask this... Has Celine or anyone of her team officially stated this is a song dedicated to the fans? Or this is just fans' speculation? I am asking this because I noticed that the lyrics are written in such a generic way that it could also apply to a lover who's been supportive. it's not stated but I think line 'j'ai ouvert devant vous les pages de ma vie' makes it clear A Vpus is for fans, 'open book' - words she repeats twice per day in average 7 Quote

Because Celine might no be present in france physically, but I can hear people talking about the album everywhere on the radio and TV. There was a Celine's special documentary on friday on D17, France Bleu... and this week RFM (radio) is also focusing on Celine with a contest to win a trip to Vegas. She's also everywhere in stores, with huge displays directly at the entrance of all the stores and supermarkets I've been. 6 Quote

Popular Post Xpresso Posted August 29, 2016 at 12:34 PM Popular Post Posted August 29, 2016 at 12:34 PM Who says this album has no theme!!??The theme is life, death, and life after (someone's) death!!That's why we have a lot of cute and calm ballads but also a lot of uptempo songs! It's the balance to avoid making it a sad album... and it's a great idea. And someone said À la plus haute branche doesn't concern Céline. Well hello! Sure the person committed suicide in the song, but the lyrics could be about anyone who lost someone (no matter how) and how he/she deals with it. 10 Quote
Kian Posted August 29, 2016 at 12:36 PM Posted August 29, 2016 at 12:36 PM (edited) Well, I've been listening to the album since Friday and here's my review even though it's hard to write anything new since all of you dissected it to the last note .I agree with so many of you that this album has 1F4T vibe and that's a great thing because it's my fave French album. Inject it with a dose of One Heart album and we have Encore un soir. 1. Plus qu'ailleurs (9/10)Love this and I like the fact it's opening track, it doesn't always have to be some bombastic or "most logical track", it slowly invites you in on a journey. The chorus brings something new to Celine repertoire, the way she sings it, the melody, it's familiar but different at the same time. The acoustic guitar and light drumming is perfect in this song. 2. L'étoile (10/10)YES!!! I was hoping she would record something like this. Screams to be released as single. It reminds me of Amir's On dirait and The Lumineers (especially HEY part). Uptempo and bursting with so much positive energy. You gotta love life listening to this 3. Ma faille (10/10)I want to hear this live!!!! It would be perfect in concert as long they keep the energy from a studio version. It begins slowly and tricks you into thinking it's a ballad and then it change into mid-tempo. Love the piano at the beginning and then acoustic guitar kicks in. The part she sings "les mots, les mots" is so sensual and HOT. I melt everytime I hear it. Loving the delayed beat at the end of the last chorus, wish it was used once more. 4. Encore un soir (10/10)Classic Goldman, I love it and even more the longer album version. I can't understand how can someone say it drags on at the end, it's only couple of seconds longer. I always felt that edit version was missing more piano at the beginning and it's there on album version. Always loved the ending so I'm glad it's little longer. 5. Je nous veux (9/10)Back to classic Celine French ballad, and here it's not a bad thing. Best ballad on this album. Love the change on the second part of the song. Electric guitar is amazing on this one. 6. Les yeux au ciel (9/10)Another uptempo song and new territory for Celine, but I prefer L'etoile. This one would rock performed in concert. 7. Si c'était à refaire (4/10)Not my cup of tea. Every album has that one song I don't like, this is the one on this album. It's not a bad song and I can see why so many people like it but it's not for me. 8. Ordinaire (6/10)I can't make myself to like this song more no matter how hard I try. I didn't like it much live and I don't like it much now. I guess I'm not a fan of these kind of "dramatic" songs. The guitar and strings are the only part I like in this. I can listen to it and even enjoy some parts but as a whole, it's not my thing. Hope it won't be second single. 9. Tu sauras (10/10)Another great uptempo Zaho song. It's not some artistic achievement some would prefer but I like it a lot, it's cool and new Celine. Just wish the chorus is little less repetitive. Everything else works great for me. 10. Toutes ces choses (4/10)Not feeling this one. It belongs to SA album imo. I have a feeling I heard her sing these kind of songs so many times before. Lullaby of this album. Next! 11. Le bonheur en face (8/10)When it started I had a feeling I won't like but then the chorus kicked in and changed that feeling completely. Lovely little track. I wouldn't pick it as a single but it's nice album track and I wouldn't skip it. 12. À la plus haute branche (7/10)I like it but it's too sad for me to listen to it every time. This album gives me such an energetic feeling and this song ruins that momentum for me. It IS beautiful song, I just have to be in the moment to appreciate it. 13. À vous (10/10)Can someone remind me why is this bonus track? I don't care if it fits an album or not, it deserves to be on the standard edition. SO different than all the other French songs she ever recorded. Great uptempo beat and song that makes you go dancing and going crazy. And don't drive while listening to this 14. Ma force (9/10)Another bonus song that should have been included on standard album. Strong 1F4T vibe on this, I wouldn't go as far as compare it to Retiens-moi (one of my favorites) but it would fit great on that album. 15. Trois heures vingt (10/10)This song will always have a special place in my heart and I'm so happy it's included on this album as a closing track. What a beautiful tribute to Rene. P.S. Can someone delete previous post, I have no idea what happened. Edited August 29, 2016 at 12:41 PM by Kian 3 Quote
Xpresso Posted August 29, 2016 at 12:43 PM Posted August 29, 2016 at 12:43 PM To me, there's no doubt that À vous is a thank you to the fans for being there and supporting her.I take the line "I opened... the pages of my life" as if she's telling us the songs we just heard all say something about her life right now.And I'm starting to really like the beat of that song - which I thought was a bit of a cheesy sound at first - but now I'm really enjoying it. I was even humming it this morning while walking my dog. 5 Quote

Sometimes it is as if one has to explain the obvious here. The recurring themes are appreciation of life (L'etoile, Je Nous Veux, Toutes Ces Choses, Le Bonheur En Face), loss/death (Encore Un Soir, Si C'etait A Refaire, A La Plus Haute Branche) and then a few romantic/love songs because after all this is a Celine Dion album. And they indeed managed to balance the album in the most perfect way. To me it is her most easy-listening French album along with 1F&4T and maybe D'eux which is close.
