Javito Posted August 28, 2016 at 05:16 PM Posted August 28, 2016 at 05:16 PM I don't know what some of us are expecting with any new Celine album. Some of us want old Celine music, but that's not even possible, the quality of her voice is different, deeper. And the music offered these days has changed. And something with a modern sound doesn't mean it's not good and quality either. So any music that has a modern sound or uses modern sounds is not good enough for Celine? Even if she sounds great in them (even with a touch of auto-tune in some songs where it fits the song?) suddenly the album is bad? I think our expectations are way too high if this is how we feel. If she sings too modern people complain, if she makes an album of ballads people say its too slow and there is no fun. If she makes an album of dance, people complain. But even if she made a "similar" album to D'uex, we won't be happy. She doesn't sound the same and even if she did, we would complain it's too much like D'uex and nothing new, a repeat and not fresh. I know it, based on the way we complain (not that we complain, but the attitude about it sometimes shows some of us will NEVER be satisfied.). I love this album, I didn't love LMBTL as much as other English albums, but I appreciated it for what it was, and I still love it better than a lot of the other artists albums out there (mostly lol). I just think we need to get off our high horse and our Celine expectations. We are fans of the greatest singer of all time, and she is past her prime in a way (it's a fact of life - her voice aged, like all the greats do..), we should be happy to still be getting music, let alone beautiful, fun, solid music that some (including myself) compare to her best. Don't forget to bring these with you while you listen to "D'uex"... http://www.achat-bearn.com/uploads/bearn/Produit/db/imp_photo_14087_1391182597.jpg 2 Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

Popular Post Del Posted August 28, 2016 at 05:56 PM Popular Post Posted August 28, 2016 at 05:56 PM I am late posting my first impressions of the album as I have not had the time. After working all day Friday I headed out to my local store where my copy of the deluxe edtion was waiting for me. The first listen was with headphones and following in the booklet to ensure that I didn't get caught up in the music but also got the full meaning of the lyrics. The review is based on my first listen (from a description I gave a friend after the first listen) and not the way I feel about the album after listening to it all weekend. The general first impression was that there are some good songs, others that I wasn't sure what to think and other were complete surprises. I had no idea what to expect from the album. That being said I felt the same about Sans Attendre where some songs I wasn't a big fan and not I like them. Here's a breakdown. Plus Qu'Ailleurs: Calm beginning to the album. Nice and soft voice and I enjoyed the feel of this song. L'Etoile: When it started I honestly wasn't sure what to think of if it and then the chorus hit. I mean what can really be said other than I had a big smile listening to it and I wanted to dance. Ma Faille: Not feeling it. Not sure if it's because I had read impressions from others first and was thinking it might be the best thing since sliced bread. Encore Un Soir: What can be said about this song that hasn't already been said. I've been loving it since May. Je Nous Veux: While I simply adore the lyrics I'm not sure about this one. Marc Dupre is one of my favorite artists and I was expecting more from him. Maybe I was expecting something musically similar to what he's written for others in the past. Les Yeux au Ciel: Very cathy cong and while it's simple I find the subject behinf the song interesting. Certainly not a subject of a song when she first started recording in the 80's Si C'etait a Refaire: Another one where I like the lyrics and the meaning behind them. I however can't fully remember the song as it didn't make any impact on me. Ordinaire: The live version absolutely floored me and I tried no to expect much for the album version. While it's no live version I'm sure it will grow on me. For now the live version is too fresh in my mind for me to fully enjoy the studio version. Tu Sauras: This is a song that will grow on me I believe. I like the beat but can be somewhat repetitive. Toutes Ces Choses: This song hits home. I love the lyrics and for me it's one of the gems of the album. Le Bonheur en Face: Nice song, I like it despite finding it simple. Will have to spend more time with this one. A La Plus Haute Branche: This is a song I have enjoyed since the 2nd night I heard Celine sing it. I wasn't 100% convinced on it the first night. The album version is perfection and brings me back to the shows I saw at the Bell Centre. I was even singing to it during the first listen so I know it's a song I appreciate when I do that. A Vous: Well now... I was not expecting this. From looking at the lyrcis this is a song for the fans and I absolutely love it. I like the sound, the beat and the message of the song. This will certainly find itself part of the music playlist I use at the gym. Ma Force: Another one I wasn't sure about. I'm not sure how to say it in English but J'ai pas accrocher. I'm sure it will eventually grow on me, but it didn't give me any special feelings. I was smiling from beginning to end of the first listen of the album which means I certainly enjoyed it. I didn't exactly know what to expect from the album which might be why I am undecided about songs. It's mostly some of the ballads holding me back. I'm sure the more I listen to the album the more I will appreciate it. 8 Quote Instagram: @delphis78

lyn Posted August 28, 2016 at 06:50 PM Posted August 28, 2016 at 06:50 PM Ah, after yet another day of listening.. I think I finally have my head around why I'm so blasé about this album. It's essentially a "it's not you Celine, it's me" deal... this album is just simply not my cup of tea... and it comes down to the fact that I can't stand the musical Rent I need my music cogent, convergent, as opposed to the stream of consciousness style it tends to be in Rent.. and which it really tends to be in this album. It's nice that it makes every song have a more exploratory and divergent feel, but it just annoys me so much in its inconclusiveness. Especially for Plus qu'ailleurs, L'etoile, Ma Faille, Je Nous Veux, Toutes ces choses, .. the key keeps changing from major to minor, changes form, has no clear climax, and tends to end on lingering notes. Peppercorn1991 Posted August 28, 2016 at 06:56 PM Posted August 28, 2016 at 06:56 PM I've not had such a great feeling for a celine album since one heart! Yes I've loved all her albums in their own way but this album is my baby! It keeps getting better and better with every listen.... One great song rolls into the next.... It's just incredible .... It feels well crafted and they have paid attention to detail in the songs! It's a massive bonus that my friends love it too and have been streaming it since it came out! My BF went away for the weekend and told me today on the phone that A Vous has been running through his head the whole time! Kev x 6 Quote
LukeD Posted August 28, 2016 at 07:03 PM Posted August 28, 2016 at 07:03 PM I think the reason people including myself have compared this album the the " French One Heart" is because I think everyone can mostly agree that " One Heart" is her most POP album and " EUS" is her most POP francophone album to date and I'm in love with both Now I just need a very POP English album next year lolI agree... difference is OH is bubblegum pop with cheesy, bland lyrics. EUS stands levels above that... It is refined pop contemporary music, the way a pop/ballad album is supposed to be constructed. 4 Quote
anewdayhascome Posted August 28, 2016 at 07:09 PM Posted August 28, 2016 at 07:09 PM (edited) This album is magical and I instantly fell in love with it from the very first tune and first listening. It's definitely in line with such albums like ANDHC/OH/1f4t. It's like 1f4t with more modern approach and typical ANDHC-ish songs. I'm far from such comparisons but this time I let myself do it. It has the same freshness, youth, joy, clear and strong voice. It's so positive and uplifting. It's UPLIFTING and makes you feel good. Celine was right saying that it's not a sad album. It really brings a listener and herself back to life. It's all about looking into the future with positive thoughts, strength and happiness in front of you. I'm very surprised with this album and I did not expect any of it. It's coherent, it flows perfectly. It also has a similar construction as ANDHC where ballads are interwoven between uptempo songs. Zaho's songs don't stand out for me that much - by this I mean they perfectly go with the rest of the album and uptempo songs like L'Etoile or Les Yeux Au Ciel. I'm sure that one of them will be a single. A vous is the best but it doesn't stand a chance being a single as it's on deluxe versions. Thus, I would prefer L'Etoile as a second single and I will explain why I would keep Ma faille and Tu sauras for later. I hope they will continue the promotion because I feel as if they stopped and this album deserves it. It's also a very "spring" album as I said earlier and it would have perfect spring single, then summer single (or 2?) and finally for autumn. I really hope that winter, Xmas and the new English album won't kill it. Not that early. It has many high notes (on the contrary to some people had said) and a loooooooot of ad-libs and Oooo Oooo aaa uuuu moments and I love those nuances... 1. Plus qu'ailleurs 8,5 / 10 I'm suprised how many people here don't like it. From the first guitar tune I fell in love with it and then with the whole album. It has definitely 1f4t vibe and it's a PERFECT opener. It's calm but it's evolving and building up slowly so then a listener is really ready for L'Etoile. The lyrics are great. And Celine's voice 2. L'étoile 100 / 10 For me one of the best, if not the best, songs on the album. Instant love. It's uptempo, it's very positive and its message fits perfectly the circumstances... It gives hope and tells you you can always do better, so don't give up! In my opinion, it would be the best second single. It's modern, it's uptempo, it's Celinish and something different from what we've had so far. (LYAC is great but quite predictable. 3. Ma faille 9 / 10 This song is beautiful and magical, like from a fairytale. It has a lovely build-up and OooOooo ad-libs. This song, however, would not work well on the radio. In my opinion, it is PERFECT for a soundtrack for a movie and then it would make sense. It has this "movie" feeling. Hard to explain. Great high notes. It has many shifts and maybe that's why it could work well with a movie. During a concert it would be awesome too. 4. Encore un soir 8,5 / 10 Somehow I got used to the song. I still enjoy it a lot and I prefer the longer album version (though the ending could be more developed). Yet, there are more surprising and unpredictable songs on the album. This song will always be special, and its live version is great, the lyrics are beautiful. I just try to express my opinion regardless the circumstances, just like a song. 5. Je nous veux 8 / 10 Beautiful ballad but with a vivid melody, not a single material and yet a very strong song. 6. Les yeux au ciel 10/10 One of the best songs as well. A good single material and I can see why it is rumoured to become a second single but it's less innovative than the rest uptempo songs. Love the guitar. The beat. You want to move your body 7. Si c'était à refaire 5 / 10 Quite boring but growing on me. I guess it will become an "okay" song eventually. Definitely the biggest disappointment of the album as far as the author is concerned. It's not typical Veneruso at all. I just expected something very different. 8. Ordinaire 6 /10 I have the biggest problem with this one. It's not extraordinary nor boring for me. From the very beginning I knew I wouldn't become a big fan of it and it hasn't changed, I got used to the song after hearing it live so many times. It was a very heavy song, it is still but because the album is so great it doesn't bother me that much anymore. . On one hand, it's good that they used the band but, on the other hand, the studio version musically sounds exactly the same as the live one so there is no surprise and no change. I adore, though, what Celine did with the studio recording, her nuances and changes she doesn't do live are charming. 9. Tu sauras 9 / 10 A great up-tempo from Zaho. Very catchy. But I wouldn't pick this one up as a single either. Of course, these days very simple repetitive songs are extremely successful on the radio but for me L'Etoile or Les Yeux Au Ciel are much stronger in terms of the lyrics. This song is fun but the chorus is SO repetitive. I mean it's not something wrong, the song is still very high in my notes but I would choose something different. 10. Toutes ces choses 4 /10 Another song that I like less. It's very "Berceuse", like a lullaby. Nothing exciting. Very delicate, very sublime. I guess I'll be fine with it in the end but it's not extraordinary and it won't be. 11. Le bonheur en face 100 / 10 Another BIG song for me. It begins innocently, it flows so beautifully and then the chorus comes in and I'm taken! It's like a story and you want to follow it. I know it won't happen but it is also a single material for me. And its message also fits what Celine feels I guess. It's so positive. The happinness is right in front of you... and you feel that she is indeed happy. And the happiness is always right there for her. The double chorus is so enticing! She really chose perfectly each song for this album... 12. À la plus haute branche 1 / 10 This is the only song that I really dislike. It does me nothing. It's boring like hell and even the lyrics won't change it. I thought it when I heard it during the contest and Celine's version hasn't changed it. 13. À vous 10/10 This is like When The Wrong One Loves You Right and JNVOP together. It's very surprising, very uplifting and you want move your body, shake your body. It's the BEST song from Zaho but it doesn't have the chance of becoming a single. I hope Celine will sing it live someday. This song screams to be part of the promotion. Great instruments, very unpredictable and its message 14. Ma force 9,5 / 10th Another highlight for me. Celine as a strong person sings about strength. And the music is great. Reminds me of Acadian Driftwood and it has 1f4t vibe too. 15. Trois heures vingt This one is also special. I wish it was rerecorded or that they included two versions but it's understandable why it's here. And it's beautiful in general. Best songs: L'étoile, Le bonheur en face, Les yeux au ciel, Ma force and À vousI like a lot Plus qu'ailleurs, Encore un soir, Je nous vous, Ma faille et Tu saurasWorst songs: Si c'était à refaire, Toutes ces choses and À la plus haute branche being the worst for REAL I guess I will have more to say or discuss what some of you have written but that's all for now. Brandon Posted August 28, 2016 at 07:31 PM Posted August 28, 2016 at 07:31 PM I was not referencing her English career, just because it is more common that we tend to be unhappy with her English albums doesn't mean we aren't doing the same thing with her french work. We are doing it, I see it, before I could listen to the album I saw it. And I never said anyone couldn't have their opinion, I don't need people to love it either. But the way we are complaining about is like a spoiled child. There are plenty of comments that are not positive about the album but don't give this truly negative attitude about it. I have no problems with these. I completely disagree, about your opinion about the album, and I have no problem with you not liking it and feeling it is sub-par. Like I said, it's the tone, making it sound like we will never be happy. I won't say more about it, it's just my opinion on how much we are expecting. And it isn't, I will repeat, directed to people who don't like the album in general. It is directed just to those who complain with a tone that is very over-dramatic for lack of a better way to explain. I don't know what you mean by complaining. I said that to me the songs were not up to par, with her usual French releases, which are usually cohesive, poetic, deep and conceptual. This was a mish-mash of different pop styles that just didn't hit the mark for me. Just because some have a catchy tune doesn't make it a great album. I wish she had picked up at least one uptempo song. 2 Quote A New Day... 10th & 11th November 2006 Taking Chances World Tour, Antwerp 13th & 14th May 2008, Kraków 28th June 2008 Celine 25th & 27th & 31st August 2013 20th, 23rd, 24th, 27th & 28th September 2016 Sans attendre Tour, Paris 1st & 5th December 2013 Encore un soir, Paris 24th, 25th, 28th, 29th June & 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 9th July 2016 Live 2017 Stockholm 17th June 2017 Lille 1st & 2nd July 2017 Paris 8th & 9th July 2017 Berlin 23rd & 24th July 2017 Live 2018 Taipei 11th & 13th July 2018 Manila 19th July 2018 Bangkok 23rd July 2018 BST Hyde Park London 5 July 2019

Nmj Posted August 28, 2016 at 07:51 PM Posted August 28, 2016 at 07:51 PM I agree... difference is OH is bubblegum pop with cheesy, bland lyrics. EUS stands levels above that... It is refined pop contemporary music, the way a pop/ballad album is supposed to be constructed. I'll be very happy if Céline can pull this off on her next english album. Problem is the langauges are two different world's. She just pulled off a very current album filled with POP songs, unfortunately I don't know why it will be VERY MUCH HARDER to do the same in English. Alot of Celine's english uptempo song's are veiwed at Cheesy. I loved OH tho I'll take a song like "Reveal" over the garbage of "Unfinished Songs". 5 Quote
RosieBarron Posted August 28, 2016 at 07:57 PM Posted August 28, 2016 at 07:57 PM Still waiting for mine to arrive free postage all the way patience is a virtue and all that! Think I must be the only one who hasn't listened to the album yet. Not even the auto - rip. Yeah I couldn't wait! Quote
RosieBarron Posted August 28, 2016 at 07:58 PM Posted August 28, 2016 at 07:58 PM (edited) Why is it over 40 pounds on Amazon uk? I bought it for about 12 pounds in Hong Kong from Hong Kong Records I bought it for £9.99. It appears to be being advertised for both of those prices. Wonder who's going to choose the £40 option? Xpresso Posted August 28, 2016 at 08:04 PM Posted August 28, 2016 at 08:04 PM The song that has grown the most on me is Plus qu'ailleurs. At first I thought it was a bit nasal and the enunciation wasn't the best even if I really liked the rhythm/melody.But now I realize that Céline probably just recorded it like Francis Cabrel sings (he's from the South of France where the accent is more nasal) and she just reproduced his style. But after listening to it at least 10 times, I LOVE IT! 3 Quote
