"Encore Un Soir" album - Official Topic

I just listened to the album for the first time and I must say, I didn't expect it to be like it is. There are wonderful melodies, current production methods, great moments that made Céline shine like only she can... But there are also a few missteps here and there. But I will digest it all first and then will write a full review. Are we getting a Review-Topic like always?

In a few years we will really value these songs.... Even more than now!

 

She has done something different, shown us there is still a lot of life in her career and I think that is amazing!

I never thought when I bought those first albums in the early 90s and after the Eurovision win that she'd be putting out albums and selling buckets, not to mention all the shows after all these years. I read here that they changed that review. I guess they realized that they blew it big time, or maybe someone had to tell them that.

 

Well after all this was/could be review of just one Red head and not of all of them so to say a general opinion...

but one thing is for sure... their heads were literally red after their review went public, either for shame or anger...upss

I haven't listened to the previews, except for the behind the scenes clips once. I seriously can't wait, tomorrow is gonna be BIG for me!!!! I hear there's upbeat songs, that's really amazing. I can't freakin wait!!!! :w00t:

I am going to play some songs of the album to my mother! I think she is the ultimate test. She is not a fan but she likes several Celine songs and admires her voice.

 

I am still undecided about which songs to pick though... I will let you know of her thoughts, I think it matters what non-fans think of the album.

 

Maybe don't tell her who is singing, that's the real way to get an unbiased non fan reaction.

Amazon UK have finally dispatched my order and I should get it tomorrow. I've managed to avoid everything apart from Encore Un Soir and the songs from the concerts. I can't wait to be surprised tomorrow and all of your reviews and really exciting me. Will share my thoughts tomorrow.

I played my mother Ma Faille, Les Yeux Au Ciel, Si C'etait A Refaire and A La Plus Haute Branche...

 

She told me Ma Faille had great production but she prefered the verses over the chorus which she found repeatitive and that it lacked melody. She loved Les Yeux Au Ciel, she was smiling throughout the song and said it was beautiful. Nothing compared to her reaction of Si C'etait A Refaire though. She almost cried, asked me what the song was about and called it a masterpiece. Once the song ended she started singing the chorus and then pointed out it was memorable. Finally, I played to her A La Plus Haute Branche which she found touching and sad. She praised her vocals, and in the end she mentioned Si C'etait A Refaire again saying it was the best song by far.

Just a question of the general music industry really (because i listen to one artist and one artist only),.. Do people really design albums to be beginning to end 'experiences' anymore? I mean given that things lke spotify/youtube/itunes or even the shuffle button tend to obviate that.

Definitely, my favorite songs are Les yeux au ciel and Le bonheur en face, and of course EUS and À la plus haute branche that we have already adopted.
