Are these photos supposed to support your argument? I don't think they do - or to quote you, they are "so wrong".

Miracle and Christmas albums being an exception of course.

I thought we were talking about photos in the booklet, suddenly the focus has shifted to covers? Well, why not. What about LTAL then, Unison, FYI or D'eux? They are all much in line with the cover shoots used for D'elles, Taking Chances and EUS.

And it's funny you use ANDHC as proof, with this silly bendy tree. Very artistic indeed, the photographer didn't even manage to get the photoshopping right.

I think you miss the whole point. It doesn't matter if it's a booklet or a cover that much. Yes, LTAL, U, FYI, D, D, TC and EUS covers follow the same pattern, that's why we bring up the cover of ANDHC which stands out. Those covers do follow the same pattern, but sorry, are we supposed to follow the same pattern for the rest of Celine's career? It's not that they are ugly (maybe TC :P) but they are not creative at all. And ANDHC? it's, what's most important, OUTDOORS and colourful. I don't get why a photographer should photoshop the tree. It's fine the way it is. This cover is out of the pattern but actually it is not far from it. It has some vivid colours and that's make such a huge difference. 1f4t cover is also great (even if we don't like Celine in that hair) but as a concept it works perfectly. But since ONCP we are receiving mostly Celine's face or Celine from waist up and that's all. Also, most of them are monochromatic (ONCP, D'elles, TC, LMBTL) and with SA we didn't even get any photoshoot.

Finally, whether it's a cover or photos in the booklet now, Celine's most recent works show her like a fashion model. It's only Celine, some fashionable (more or less) clothes and white wall. They don't reflect the album in a slightest percentage. With ANDHC, and you cannot deny it, the photos are not so artificial/photoshoped/polished/posed like in works mentioned above. It reflects PERFECTLY the spirit of Celine at the time as well as the spirit of the album. Celine is smiling, she is cheerful, she is wearing more casual clothes. Vivid colours reflect the energy of the album.... The sun, the clouds... it's all included in the songs...

And when a new album is coming out, you expect something creative. They could even include Celine walking on a street in Paris... I don't know the themes of the songs that much but each could be accompanied by a proper photo that reflects its message. And what do we got? Another black and white session. I agree the photos are great, she looks great. But in the end it's boring.

The artistry is the way the light falls, the location, the natural backgrounds. Here in the new photoshoots she was made young with photoshop, photographed against a white wall. That is what i mean. It is easy to photograph in a studio and photoshop her younger. That is what i mean.

Exactly. There is nothing creative in putting Celine wearing the latest fashions designs in a void space.

Someone asked about the deluxe booklet: Its different in parts to the standard, primarily because they list the full lyrics to all the bonus songs too.

Thanks! Does this standard edition come with the same digipack as a deluxe one and are there less pictures except it doesn't include the lyrics to the bonus songs? Sorry to bother, but I ordered a deluxe version and LP and I'm thinking about to cancel the order for deluxe and buy a standard one instead. Would I loose to much by doing it (Except of course, the blue box, bracelets and a notebook)?

MY REVIEW:

Plus Qu'ailleurs: hmmm not a good opener... nothing really special. And I don't like her voice here... she sounds very nasal. A bit like her "Miracle" or "Live in Las Vegas" voice. The very last note is beautiful though... reminds me of the Unison era.

L'Étoile: There's this grain in her voice that bothers me. But it's a nice song. Beautiful and original chorus. A lot better than the previous one. Happy, light. There's a "vocoder" effect going on here and there. I think it could be a grower.

Ma Faille: Nice, nice. She sounds young here, although sometimes as if she were imitating Zaho. Her voice reminds me a bit of "D'elles". The beat reminds me of "Tous les secrets". It's clearly a standout , the bridge is beautiful!! Some powerful notes in the end. and a "granny voice" ending note :P

Encore un Soir (album version): I can really see now why they chose this as first single, and it was a great choice. I still love this song! I don't like the long version though... the beat is really going more and more powerful but her adlibs are really soft, they don't match.

Je Nous Veux: a classic ballad. She sounds pretty much like her old self. I really like that. It's somehow refreshing. Some nice and clear high notes.

Les Yeux Au ciel: OK guys, This SHOULD BE the second single. I have no doubts about it. There's something so "On ne change pas" about it. And the subject is very original. I really like the ideal of singing the chorus in 2 different octaves. She really showcases her range here. Very very low notes and she goes up to an F5.

Si C'Était à Refaire: Another ballad. A lot of grainy voice going on here. A bit of a "si je n'ai rien de toi" vibe. The melody is a bit "démodé" though. It sounds like an old Lara Fabian song. The last chorus is very powerful. Nice to hear some high notes à la "ESNRQ" but still not a favorite.

Ordinaire: I hear some autotune going on. We really hear her accent in this one. It sounds as if they had autotuned a live version. A bit like TSMGO studio version. But it's not bad. I really think it sounds very very similar to the live version.

Tu Sauras: Very modern song. I really like the sound. It's like those songs that you can hear nowadays on the french radio. Like Louanne... What I like about this one is that it really looks like they developed it instead of rushing the ending.

Toutes Ces Choses: Another ballad. I hear some autotune going on here and there. But her voice sounds nice. Not a fan of the song though. A bit corny.

Le Bonheur en Face: a very positive song. I like it. It's not a standout but it fits well in the album.

À La Plus Haute Branche: oh finally her voice is crystal clear. Like the live version. It's the perfect song for closing the album. The slowest song in the album. She sounds so young, innocent and fragile. This one will go as one of the best songs ni her career I think. It's a bit the equivalent of "Je n'ai besoin d'amour" in Sans Attendre. ONE MAJOR REGRET: minute 4:10 there's an horrendous robot-sounding autotune fail.

OVERALL: 3/5 It's far from raking amongst her best works ever. But it's still refreshing to have new material from her after all these years, and with a couple of standouts, notably "Ma Faille", "Les Yeux Au Ciel", "Encore Un Soir" and "À La Plus Haute Branche". ^_^

I suppose it has been done with a good reason.

So why not?

Cher was autotuned big time, and nobody complained because it was a big hit.

We all want modern uptempo songs, so this is what you get.

She can go back to sleepy Miracle songs...

So in your music universe there are only autotuned songs or sleepy Miracle songs? Nothing in between? Because I think there is more than that. I also think a song can sound modern without the use of autotune. You bring up Cher but she is not the vocalist Celine is. The voice of Celine has been her number 1 selling point since day 1 so why change that now? To have a modern sound that nobody buys anyway? The more she attemps to go modern and poppish, the lower she is selling.

Do not get me wrong, I agree with your previous comment that there is way too much complaing here... but as far as autotune is concerned I agree with the criticisms.

I suppose you want exactly the album covers. Well, here are some. Much more creative than the album covers we got since 2007.

Even her cover for SISDA in sepia is more creative than the one we got.

http://im0.olx.biz.id/images_olxid/40502521_3_644x461_celine-dion-sil-suffisait-daimer-japan-cd-musik-film_rev001.jpg

I didn't say that  Please, do you think they have to spend millions to make a nice photoshoot??? There are thousands of photographers with thousands of ideas out there that would kill to take pictures of Celine, probably for 5% or 10% of what Alix Malka will have charged for those dull pictures, where Céline's face looks the same in all of the takes as if he took only one picture and cut and pasted her face on the rest.

There are even artists that take their own pictures based on their own ideas and concepts they have for their albums (i.e. Annie Lennox). So no, it's not a matter of living in the 90's. It's a matter of caring about the product and how it looks :bye1: .

Well, you do know that her self titled album cover was a candid, right? And ANDHC, she didn't even want to be on the cover. I would have preferred the logo with the clouds for that one. Celine's albums for the most part are not conceptual, which is an argument that has been put forth many times. How do you create a photoshoot around an album that has no specific concept? TAST and Miracle are the exceptions. Otherwise, all of Celine's other albums have simply been pop albums. To sell a pop album, the artwork just needs to look attractive. Nice photos, good color schemes etc. I think the cover for EUS is beautiful. And the black, white and gold adds a bit of class, and nostalgia. Stop worrying about the little details. Details that still look beautiful.

Somehow I think that this (cause she sang it in Paris during some programme) and one of the Zaho's songs will be singles...

(This is a good example, it is way more respectful! thanks..) .... If you remember, they switched the international release day to fridays because not all stored got the albums early and so by friday everyone would have. I believe these stores just recieved the new albums and decided to put them out early. Walmart in the usa used to do it all the time, I would go in at 9-10pm the night before and get my new albums, and it always counted toward the new week.

By the way, I think we need to stop being moralists, I have never been a supporter of downloading illegally and have even argued with some family who were... but to call out and shame other people, even people we don't know, that I disagree with. Keep your opinions to yourself, in my opinion. I think it's rue and you have no right to judge others. We don't know each other's circumstances and abilities. We don't get to assume things are easy for them or if they are just being cheap or lazy. And I truly believe, with Celine's greatest popularity behind her, the only people truly willing to find a downloaded copy EARLY are fans like us who will always support her and buy her music and see her concerts. In two days it will probably be widely available for free in many ways anyway. Can we stop treating people like we have the right to judge them? Not wanting to pick a fight, please understand. I just think we should stay away from this judgmental shaming because I don't think it is right, regardless which side you are on.

It's not judgmental to say that it's illegal and detrimental. I appreciate and agree with what you said, but I haven't seen anyone accuse anyone of being cheap or lazy.

Celine may not need auto tune but every current artist uses it and it's become a sound people in general expect! I suspect it was done for effect rather than that it was needed!

LMBTL was very auto tuned! But fans got used to it....

I didn't want to reply, because all this is quite irrelevant given that the focus of this discussion is EUS. But since I don't enjoy being lecturer by condescending know-it-alls, just a short comment: I see what you mean, but it is pointless to debate a topic if the topic constantly changes. First, it was about booklet pictures, then covers, then the difference between covers before 2007 and after 2007... and in the end, it all boils down to 'some covers are better than others'.

Which is a fine conclusion for me.
