How is ORDINAIRE? Is it that bad ? Please tell me it's not my expectations were so high after her perfect live performances.

I think you miss the whole point. It doesn't matter if it's a booklet or a cover that much. Yes, LTAL, U, FYI, D, D, TC and EUS covers follow the same pattern, that's why we bring up the cover of ANDHC which stands out. Those covers do follow the same pattern, but sorry, are we supposed to follow the same pattern for the rest of Celine's career? It's not that they are ugly (maybe TC :P) but they are not creative at all. And ANDHC? it's, what's most important, OUTDOORS and colourful. I don't get why a photographer should photoshop the tree. It's fine the way it is. This cover is out of the pattern but actually it is not far from it. It has some vivid colours and that's make such a huge difference. 1f4t cover is also great (even if we don't like Celine in that hair) but as a concept it works perfectly. But since ONCP we are receiving mostly Celine's face or Celine from waist up and that's all. Also, most of them are monochromatic (ONCP, D'elles, TC, LMBTL) and with SA we didn't even get any photoshoot.

Finally, whether it's a cover or photos in the booklet now, Celine's most recent works show her like a fashion model. It's only Celine, some fashionable (more or less) clothes and white wall. They don't reflect the album in a slightest percentage. With ANDHC, and you cannot deny it, the photos are not so artificial/photoshoped/polished/posed like in works mentioned above. It reflects PERFECTLY the spirit of Celine at the time as well as the spirit of the album. Celine is smiling, she is cheerful, she is wearing more casual clothes. Vivid colours reflect the energy of the album.... The sun, the clouds... it's all included in the songs...

And when a new album is coming out, you expect something creative. They could even include Celine walking on a street in Paris... I don't know the themes of the songs that much but each could be accompanied by a proper photo that reflects its message. And what do we got? Another black and white session. I agree the photos are great, she looks great. But in the end it's boring.

Exactly. There is nothing creative in putting Celine wearing the latest fashions designs in a void space.

AMEN! I couldn't have sait it better :)

Well, you do know that her self titled album cover was a candid, right? And ANDHC, she didn't even want to be on the cover. I would have preferred the logo with the clouds for that one. Celine's albums for the most part are not conceptual, which is an argument that has been put forth many times. How do you create a photoshoot around an album that has no specific concept? TAST and Miracle are the exceptions. Otherwise, all of Celine's other albums have simply been pop albums. To sell a pop album, the artwork just needs to look attractive. Nice photos, good color schemes etc. I think the cover for EUS is beautiful. And the black, white and gold adds a bit of class, and nostalgia. Stop worrying about the little details. Details that still look beautiful.

All I say is that some background behind her in the pictures won't hurt anybody. And it won't add more zeros to the photographer's bill in the end ;) . We've had more than enough photoshoots with a white/empty wall behind her, don't you agree?

The cover is beautiful. The pictures inside are beautiful. But it's again the same thing they've done a zillion times. That's the criticism. They are unable to come up with something creative and original for a change.

It's confusing to have such contradictory impressions from those who already listened to the album, but I have enjoyed all of Celine's French albums, I know that we all have different expectations and preferences, and I trust in some of the professional reviewers more than in the Red Heads and other self-declared superfans.

Therefore, I remain optimistic that EUS will be a fine album, with some stand-out songs, some little stinkers and an overall good quality :) .

Oh, good grief! The main reason why Cher's "Believe" became such a massive hit and iconic is because it was something NEW to music at the time. Well, at least to mainstream radio. Cher herself stated the song had been already been written WELL before the song released. However, they shelved it because it didn't quite have that extra thing needed to elevate it. However, when she learned of Roachford and what he was doing with vocoders, she wanted to add that affect to the song. So, while it wasn't quite a vocoder they used, the effect was somewhat the same. She wasn't doing it because she didn't have the vocals compared to Celine, nor was she doing it because it was the "in thing" at the time. She did it to help add ornamental elements to an already great song. The rest is history.

TU SAURAS is really growing on me!

Her voice sounds so good it could have been recorded in the ANDHC era!

Ok... Me and BF have just listened to the snippets... And wow it's modern! We love it! .... Defiantly going to be an excellent album for me.... I've wanted modern songs that fit her for so long!

That's not my place to say. I was merely educating people about the song "Believe." Some on here seem to think Cher only used special effects because her vocals aren't "as strong" as Celine's. That, in and of itself, is stupid to say. Cher has a much stronger lower register/bottom end than Celine does. Celine has a stronger higher end than Cher. That's all.

I didn't want to reply, because all this is quite irrelevant given that the focus of this discussion is EUS. But since I don't enjoy being lecturer by condescending know-it-alls, just a short comment: I see what you mean, but it is pointless to debate a topic if the topic constantly changes. First, it was about booklet pictures, then covers, then the difference between covers before 2007 and after 2007... and in the end, it all boils down to 'some covers are better than others'.

Which is a fine conclusion for me.

Obviously if we critizise the new pictures and some think they are better or worse, it's because we have to compare them with some of her previous album booklets  The contrary would be to critizise and just say they're bad, compared to what?

I think you just want to find trouble where there is none, and my point was clearly stated since the start, which is that Céline and her team can do so much better than this, because if there's a singer who has the means to put out whatever album she wants, in every detail of the production, that's her.

After hearing almost all previews including Ordinaire, some of them sounds like Eddy&NelsonAngelil production for me, something is wrong starting with studio version of TSMGO :hmm: great thing we have loads of bootleg videos with nice sound :giggle:

i'm still hoping it will be different when I will listen to the whole thing

The album has basically leaked to a lot of people and we have people arguing about bloody pictures. :giggle:

So true! We aren't fans of a model or fashionista, we are fans of a singer lol But we aren't the only ones, all famous women celebrities (and maybe/probably even some male) have this kind of discussion. It is quite amusing in a way lol

I think this album will be more moderm, more dance and R&B. Celine want to take more risk now, because she had nothing to lost! This album will be more differant than what we had in the past, it's my opinion! I wait to Friday!

Ordinaire sounds amazing to me according to the snippet. As good as the live version. I even find the belts stronger than in concert.

You missed my point. I did not imply Cher needed special effects to be as good as Celine. By saying Cher is not the vocalist Celine is I meant that Cher could bear to experiment with her voice in studio unlike Celine whose recordings (especially during her prime) were always extremely polished, resulting in people to expect the very best from her. 2015-2016, way out of her vocal prime, and once Celine strained middle chest notes people worried she might have lost her voice.

the whole point of a topic (and discussing) is that it constantly changes

So, if I discuss with someone whether the death penalty is a good or bad thing, changing the topic helps?

I hope your job does not require that you discuss with people, they may find you very confusing.

But as an olive branch, I extend to you the same courtesy as to Javito: Yes, you are always right. And thanks for taking the time to enlighten less intellectually fortunate people like me.

MY REVIEW:

OVERALL: 3/5 It's far from raking amongst her best works ever. But it's still refreshing to have new material from her after all these years, and with a couple of standouts, notably "Ma Faille", "Les Yeux Au Ciel", "Encore Un Soir" and "À La Plus Haute Branche". ^_^

After reading reviews I get the feeling that musically this is something of an "A New Day Has Come" kind of album (because it seems to be eclectic). What do you think? Is it as consistent as her 90s and 00s French albums?

I hate to know there's granny voice.
