Well, what is a comeback? Some of us already planned their holiday to Vegas with the word comeback.

 

A comeback can be anything, is it just a comeback to 'the spotlight of the media'

A comeback on stage? Or in the recording studio.

 

I think it's just a comeback after a announcement that she has a rare disease. And ready to live with it out in the open.

I agree, I found that notable as well. I’m not sure if Amazon was shopping it around to the media already, we know that Hoda Kotb saw it already but I was thinking maybe it was only her due to her exclusive interview and to be prepped for proper questions… I’m wondering if she wasn’t the only one?

They wouldn’t want people to go out there and spoil it a month in advance. Certainly not before the Hoda interview at least.

I’d be willing to bet my bottom dollar that the documentary will end with an “optimistic” feeling… that’s on brand for Celine. Also, when we look at the soundtrack; assuming it chronological… it lists “I’m Alive” as the last song other than a final score… and I’d have a hard time believing that Irene would use that song in a dark ending.

I think the Hoda interview on June 11, will probably give us more answers as to her state, chance of a possible comeback… and what’s next. Even more than the documentary. I’m also wondering if Celine will let the French media get in on the action and grant them an exclusive as well. If so we should be hearing about it soon.

I've needed some time to process the trailer. What a woman. My admiration for her keeps growing ❤️

 

It also warms my heart to see how universally positive the reactions have been. Regardless of background, people finally seem to agree about something: we are all rooting for her. She's such a unifying figure lol.

 

I wonder if there will be any Québec promo/interviews. Notice they didn't even include French subtitles for the trailer.

 

And I've also been wondering about that guy who was supporting her during fysio. He was in NYC/Boston with her as well, so I assumed he was her bodyguard. But would a bodyguard support someone through physical therapy? Inversely, if he's her physical therapist, would he attend a basketball game with her and her sons?

I know that we aren’t big fans of the sound track, but you have to wonder if the songs correlate to the footage shown in the documentary. ABM is significant for two reasons: 1) if you think back to 2008 as to when Celine mentioned her voice would spasm, she had trouble singing ABM and it was documented in the TCWT DVD. Also, the trailer shows presumably, her singing ABM after Renee died in her first show back. This doc shows a lot of previous concert (vegas and tour) footage which is great, so I wonder if the soundtrack is in part, correlated to the footage that they show. Like with love again, we know that they show her in the studio recording it, which means the song plays in the doc. They probably tie that in toward the end to show that she’s still able to sing (“happy ending”)

Yes and no. There is def a lot of media coverage and such positive comments about it that I didn’t expect. At the same time, since the diagnosis, there is such a huge interest in her story. Everyone loves a comeback story and people, superfans or not, want to see her triumph over this. I’ve read a lot of comments on YouTube along the lines of “I’m not a superfan but…” or “I never was a fan of her music but…”. It wasn’t too long ago that if you liked Celine Dion, you didn’t really shout it from the rooftops. Now it seems that everyone loves and respects her for her iconic status in ways that people didn’t really talk about years ago. She’s not taken for granted as she was before, especially since the singers of today for the most part, leave many people longing for actual talent like what Celine possesses.

I’m surprised they actually used IACBTMN in the trailer as it isn’t part of the soundtrack. Maybe that was the point? Either way, I’m so happy they didn’t go the generic route and play MHWGO or elements of the damn flute.. ofc it’s in the doc, but I love when it isn’t the safe route.
