Thanks, guess I missed that yesterday. I find it also a bit sad she saying she hasn't a lot of friends. I'm a bit sceptic when I hear her say she considers Irene a friend. I mean, she has an agenda, making the documentary. I wouldn't fully call that a friend, just a director you fully trust. Although if they are really friends, that's nice for her. But what happened to her Florida friend, that also made an appearance on a Canadian TV show (can't remember the name)?

I think Celine not having many friends is clearly intentional. I don’t know the reason, maybe it’s a trust thing since she’s been in the public eye since a young age. Maybe it was not having the time, when she was traveling the world, year after year.

 

But I think Celine likes it this way. If she wanted more “friends” she’d have them. I think she probably considers her sisters her friends, her mother was like a friend in the later years, I know she considers Dee her friend. But I think the reason she’s so selective in having friends is she likes her tight knit bubble and she’s scared to jeopardize that, her privacy is key. So I believe her when she says Irene is like a friend now, because I’m sure Irene saw “things” that we won’t even see in this documentary… things that maybe even worse than they are willing to share and when someone sees you in that light, I think it gives you a bond l, but I think she doesn’t mean “girlfriend” I think she means friend on a more distant level. That’s how I read it

Yeah, but she always seems to consider the people she worked with her friends/family. With that in mind, it doesn’t sound all that odd to me

It's well into the millions across platforms. 5.3m for the main post on IG alone. It's definitely doing numbers.

 

But I'm still trying to figure out why they decided to release the film when they did. It's such an odd time. As understand it, the doc has been wrapped since fall last year. Why late June? Really makes you wonder what's in the cards for "after".

I believe when her and RC are playing baseball it is from the Florida home and after back from the TC tour. RC is wearing same uniform he wore when playing catch with Rene in interview Celine did with Julie Synder right before giving birth to twins. So either this was right after getting back from the tour before got pregnant with twins or very early on being pregnant with the twins.

What I am taking from here is this - mentioned twice:

 

'She is able to control it with medicine' and 'she will always have it, for her whole life, but she will be able to control it.'

 

I am being very hopeful, because she didn't caveat it with: 'most of the time' / 'to a big extent' / 'on most days' etc.

 

I think it's a big statement to make and that gives me hope that in her case this treatment really works. Of course this is a very unpredictable disease and one cannot be entirely sure how it will go in the long run, but for now it seems they've found a way.

You are right, the word "friend" has devalued a lot today. Too bad.

 

The fact that she called Irene a friend - definitely an overstatement - probably proves various things. One sad one: it was enough that someone wanted to listen to her, was probably attentive and empathetic, didn't want to exclusively bask in her glow for a while, just understood her - and she called her a friend. This is sad proof of how lonely people at the pinnacle of fame can be.

 

The second thing is more optimistic: Céline has been working since childhood, so she didn't have time to learn how to make friends; for years, everything in her life was occupied by family and work. After the death of René and the death of her mother, which weakened her ties with her siblings, as her sons grow up and her work (aside from daily physiotherapy) no longer consumes her, a place for friendship has appeared in her life. And all the luck, because she will need it a lot - maybe even more than all of us? as a famous and sick person. May she find wise and honest people around her.

I wish they'd release the CD and vinyl at the same time for a bigger combined first week sales, seeing that vinyls are a thing again and could help boost sales. I actually prefer buying a vinyl over a CD because of the bigger album sleeve.
