scielle Posted May 23, 2024 at 07:10 PM Posted May 23, 2024 at 07:10 PM I take this to mean that Céline was able to travel the world, perform, do ballet and overall appear to be a perfectly healthy and fit person, all while experiencing significant SPS symptoms? Quite encouraging if she was able to do all that (and commit to things months in advance) while sometimes not even being able to walk without holding on to things.Yeah, I had thoughts along the same lines. She was able to do all the ballet etc (the splits! remember that?!) while all this time she had some symptoms. It must have really worsened at an accelerating pace in recent years though, perhaps it all just caught up with her when she was forced by Covid to take a break. I think for some people the onset is gradual, for others its triggered by a singular stressful event (like e.g. I think for Tara Zier, that event was her husband's suicide.) Just goes to show though, how poorly understood of a disease it is. Quote

But you figure when we see scenes from the recording studio we only get the length basically of the song when we know it took few hours or more to record the song. So there is so much unseen footage from her career out there. 1 Quote 'I am, in life and death, the woman of only one man.' Celine Dion My Story, My Dream

LukeD Posted May 23, 2024 at 08:37 PM Posted May 23, 2024 at 08:37 PM I’m actually surprised not one mention or video footage of Rene. That alone already says that Irene may go a different route in telling her story. I’m sure there will be plenty of footage of their marriage etc but surprised nothing in that trailer.!That is a very interesting observation! I think this is consistent with Irene and Celine wanting Celine to be the focus of this documentary. It is all about HER narrative now - not about the things she would normally say if Rene was around, who was allegedly in control of who Celine would speak to and what things she would say. This choice is also consistent with what I wrote earlier that this is a new chapter for Celine, re-introducing herself to the world in light of new events. Rene is unfortunately absent and maybe Celine has finally come to terms with it. Ever since he passed away, she kept saying that Rene was always there with her - maybe now she has accepted that he is not, and this is something that she can bare. It goes without saying that he will be mentinoed in the documentary but in a reduced capacity and in relation to Celine. He will not be the centre of it. And this definitely reflects her emotional and spiritual change. I firmly believe that the perfectionist Celine who would hide vulnerability does not exist anymore. And part of this emotional journey was to accept this major loss, grieve it, and then move on. 6 Quote
PuraVida Posted May 23, 2024 at 08:49 PM Posted May 23, 2024 at 08:49 PM I love the trailer! I really like how they altered the audio from "I'm Alive" and "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" to create a cinematic effect. It reminded me of Love Again in that respect. The content of the documentary seems essentially like what I expected, but the tearful part really hit home for me. My hopes are 1) that they dug deep enough in the vault for unseen footage 2) we get to see Celine in Montreal/Canada 3) we get to see her go more places in Vegas than just her warehouse and a restaurant. But so excited for the documentary! It seems to be getting a big reception online already 2 Quote

But she was waving and blowing a kiss as she was exiting someplace at 1:44-1:45 in the trailer. For as long as Irene was shadowing Celine, I reckon they must've gone to a variety of places - and without fans/paparazzi getting much wind of it. Naturally, there may have been Celine's mobility issues and COVID to consider. Edited May 23, 2024 at 09:14 PM by PuraVida Quote

And part of this emotional journey was to accept this major loss, grieve it, and then move on. I agree on the perfectionism and that the focus is and should be on Celine for this documentary. But suggesting she would not say the same things if he was alive I do not at all agree. This is not because now she is allowed to speak, at least not for me. We all change and grow as we mature. As the world at large changed as well. Also, with losing Rene and now being the boy’s only parent and more in charge of her career, has changed things. I think the change in how she presented herself to the world was already happening while Rene was alive. For me it changed throughout the years but really was prevalent more in 2012 and 2013, but then got put on hold when Rene got sick. I believe this is when she finally started to really not care as much what the public thought, as I believe many stars do as they age. As well as the boys being older and not having to devote every minute to them as she did with RC. But saying Rene was in total control of what she said is BS to me. Yes, he arranged what shows and interviews she did as he was her manager and she trusted him and let him handle that. But it really makes me mad that people think Rene told her what to say even up till his death. In the beginning yes. But as the years went on, I do not believe at all he told her what to say. The world changed, and as some pointed out and how one presents themselves to the public changed over the years. As well as Celine getting older and more mature. But to think the Celine of even the TC era was just in essence a puppet saying what Rene told her is a disservice to both of them. Not that I ever believed she was a puppet. This might not be what you meant but is what it came across to me. In the Vogue video she says she still feels his presence so much, so I do not agree with you that she has accepted he is not there. She accepted he was not with her physically from the moment he passed but I think for Celine he will always be with her. That does not mean the documentary will or needs to focus on him. It was a little odd to me too to not see him in the preview. Personally, for me I would like to know more about how she really felt after he passed as I believe she never really let us see how hard it was. But this is not what this documentary is about, but about her struggles with SPS. And this time she is letting us in. 3 Quote 'I am, in life and death, the woman of only one man.' Next time I read words like 'BS' in reference to my posts I will click the report button. Second, I used the word ''allegedly''. Because nor me, nor you have actual proof over what the case is. Third, the entire persona/career of Celine was extremely sugarcoated when Rene was alive. Now that is a fact. And in his capacity as her manager it would only make sense for him to be in control of this documentary or the questions Celine is asked during interviews. Again, I have no proof for what I am saying but only after Rene's death did Celine re-invent her set-lists, performed sensual dances on stage, persistently wore super sexy or even outrageous outfits, promoted a genderless clothing line, swore in an English record, posed as a warrior queen in the photoshoot of said English record, appeared without make-up in a music video, made several public appearances with a gay bestie. How many times have we seen Celine on nights out with friends before? To me, these are indicative of what I am saying. However, I respect that you and others share a different opinion. To each their own. 2 Quote
