Agreed. Celine can stay out of the spotlight and focus on her health — and her legacy of music and unreleased materials can continue to be shared. Olivia Newton-John’s social media is still active and very uplifting.

A lot of performers announce their retirement. Though many don't go through with it in the end lol. I can imagine Elton returning as well.

 

But I don't really see the point why Céline would announce her retirement. I just can't see her publicly giving up like that. An indefinite hiatus, maybe. But even then, what's the point? It's not like we don't know.

 

Another part of the 'inside info' I find sus is the part about Dave Platel and Denis Savage.

Feeling Inc/CDA/Fondation Céline Dion still have to file their annual listings and other official documents. Denis is always the one mentioned as Director/Treasurer/Secretary. Dave's name has never even come up as far as I can tell. Anything is possible, but Denis seems better positioned to stay on board.

When Céline decides to release a DVD if she’s not happy with a performance from it vocally, she will go to a studio and re-record the vocals to that song… so maybe she never had the time which is possibly why they don’t release anything?!?

I mean not really… the minute the courage tour closed due to covid in 2020 it was just a case of biding her time until she got back on the stage, which was fully intended- but as we know, by at the very least October of 2021 she was incapable of singing to her own level, if at all, and has been that way since. So it’s difficult to say if at any point she would have or would have even wanted to re-record vocals for a dvd or special that would likely never end up seeing the light of day anyway

I've watched pro-shot concerts from other artists, even ones recorded from like...2009-2013 (a full DECADE ago)...and even DVD releases from that long ago are still of such high visual quality, and of tremendous artistic value.

 

It really makes it clear just how much we have missed out on thanks to Team Celine. I haven't watched this one yet, but I am sure it is a useful point of comparison from a release standpoint: Shakira in 2018.

On resorts worlds Instagram page the final shows for Luke and Katy are advertised. As you recall Luke , Katy , Carrie and Celine were announced two years ago as the first residence performers. Only carrie remains with resorts world waiting on Celine supposedly. Someone Instagram asked if new acts will be announced and RW said “stay tuned !” With a wink. They had hoped Celine will be ready for 2024. I suspect new acts will be revealed in October and November when those other residences have their final shows. If we get two or three new acts and one of them isn’t Celine I suspect things are not progressing for her as well as hoped .

I think RW said 2024 out of their own hope and because they had to say something. I don’t think their press release will be indicative of Celine’s prognosis. Not that I think she will return or not in 2024 but this doesn’t mean much. Celine would co-headline not be the solo resident. So technically still possible.

Yeah ... interesting though that she says in that same clip "I'm spasming ... someday I'm gonna flip." Not sure what she means but a lot of the vocal issues she describes -- spasming, not being able to finish a sentence, difficulty breathing, tension -- are consistent with some kind of laryngospasm which may have effected her previously in the past. Whether stress is the trigger or something else (could even be caused by acid reflux), who knows ..
