New Las Vegas residency show!

I much preferred Celine to A New Day... because I have never felt like Celine needed much. Personally, I'd be happy if it were just her.. the live orchestra was a treat, but honestly she hardly even needs music with that instrument she's got.

 

Her albums are, unfortunately, unlistenable for me because of how over-produced they sound, so I go to as many live shows as I can (and I appreciate how many great youtube videos of live performances their are). Her live voice is so much better than the oddly layered, pitch corrected mess that is her studio work.

Are you talking about her current albums? From 2013-current? If yes, I agree. It’s like Mariah’s. I want the classic Céline- voice blending well to the instrumentals not the voice being super loud and making her voice too crisp that’s kinda irritating

This is true except for her recent albums. LMBTL and Courage definitely have pitch correction and they've been using it on her since at least the A New Day dvd.

She kept trying the song "Lying Down" but that one line "..I can HEAR you.." is never going to sound quite right live due to how much is done to it on the album. It's really easy to tell that the modern albums are heavily produced and pitch corrected.

 

Of the recent stuff, I would say we'll get Imperfections and Courage, not much else. I'm not sure she'll ever even perform Flying On My Own again live.

I just wished she did more songs of the new album at the tour. Personally I don’t like the covers because it is like listening to a very expensive karaokesinger who has a amazing voice.

Well, if i put her songs in a playlist. Mostly, it will be french. I like her french songs more than her english albums. But still I became a fan because of her songs and her voice.

 

Song that made me start to become a fan of Céline

 

All By Myself (thanks to my nanny). This is the first song where I started to know her lol. Just amazed how powerful her voice is. Especially in her prime.

 

Because i have listened to Beauty and the Beast and My Heart Will Go On when i was still a kid and I didn’t know that it was Céline who sang it. Even A New Day Has Come. I just remember the tune of the chorus when i saw it on TV (music video) and after how many years was shocked that it was Céline who sang it. That made me realize after all the songs that I’ve heard since I was a kid it was all Céline

It's not really all that amazing. I think many people love Celine for her voice - I'm one of those. As many people point out, her songs are fairly mediocre - it's how she interprets them with her voice that make them interesting. That's why so many of us don't care if she's singing covers instead of her own songs. I'm a fan of Celine because of her VOICE. And when I see her live, I want to hear her VOICE. Not lip-synching - which she doesn't do much of anymore, just the big hits she can't cut. That's why she's doing so many covers these days - she's choosing songs she can actually sing live. I'd rather hear that than lipped versions of current album songs. THAT DOESN'T MAKE PEOPLE LIKE US ANY LESS OF A FAN FOR F U C K S SAKE!!

I like it when she sings covers but not at the expense of her own songs. I could listen to her singing Queen or MJ for hours but when there's a limited 20-something song setlist I'd rather it be mostly her own songs (and covers that she made her own like ABM or RDMH).

I first became a fan because of her songs, then I began loving her voice and in the process I discovered her personality. Nowadays, that is the reverse order of my reasons for being a fan. To me the most important now is her personality (mainly because I can relate so unbelievably much); then comes her voice which I adore regardless of what she is singing; and finally her songs, many of which I still love but I can't say they're necessarily better than those by other singers of her calibre. I think the arrangement for One Heart is good, just the instrumentation could be updated. Though maybe you mean the same thing. Sometimes I wish young alternative bands would cover Celine and they would add some amazing, new instrumentation. With synths and things.

He’s just alluding to the fact that Katy sounds better on the record then she does live. She’s more polished, if you will. Which is true of a lot of artists, but with people like Celine and even Carrie Underwood, for example being in the same theatre, they can still blow the roof off a place live. I think Katy is a good singer, but definitely supplements more with stage props and other items for her shows. Celine can just sing in an empty stage and the audience would be captivated!

Well, Katy’s show is for sure very interesting! I like the big 3D letters on the side of the stage though! It’s an interesting detail. Just the word “Celine” since it’s what her show will be called would be a nice detail. It doesn’t have to be a loud font, just her usual cursive or bold face type would work. The stage elements are for sure larger than life like shown in the GMA segment today.
