Courage World Tour - EU shows CANCELED

I want more Céline songs, not more covers.

Bring back Did You Give Enough Love and the music video vibe and hat that go along with it.

I think the 2017 tour was the perfect opportunity for her to perform that song or Refuse To Dance as a sensual dance number with Pepe. This way we would have had two epic dance performances, one in French and another one in English. One can dream.

The next question I have is what about her shows in Vegas , will you need the same there as well,?

Nevada has one of the worst vaccination rates in the country. That state doesn’t seem to care if people are vaccinated so I doubt proof of vaccination would be required in Vegas. Vegas is completely open for business and I haven’t read anything about proof of vaccination.

However, I wouldn’t go to Vegas unvaccinated. Their Covid cases and death rates are some of the highest in the country.

Posted
That doesn't matter now whether the country is allowing non vaccinated people or not. Even if it is, it's better to go vaccinated rather than with just one dose or no any. I hope her team is fully vaccinated before the start of her tour.

“I know how frustrating it is for my fans, with all the postponements that have taken place these past 18 months,” Dion said in a statement. “My team and I are still concerned about everyone’s safety this summer even though the situation has dramatically improved. We all feel 100% comfortable that things will be very safe next spring, and I want my fans to feel the same way, without any worries. I hope everyone understands.”

I have to say I’m surprised by the rescheduling of all the dates. BUT, I always had a feeling that Nov. 5 would not only be opening of her new Vegas show and the theater itself but also the first time she’d be performing again. The energy that night is going to be insane!!!

I don’t see Vegas being postponed. Vegas is open. Casinos and restaurants are open. Other theaters are open. Unless Vegas has to shut down again because Nevada has such low vaccination rates, I assume the show will go on. A 5,000 seat house is also much smaller than a 50,000 seat arena.

Are you serious?! :ranting: I think the part that has me absolutely livid is how Vegas is the priority. Don't tell me they couldn't do the US dates and just reschedule the Canadian dates. I get it though...a 5,000 seat theatre is smaller than a 50,000 seat arena, but still. I got these tickets to the Pittsburgh show April of 2019. This will make it 3 YEARS! I can't see people taking much more of this before there's a run on refunds or people selling their tickets en mass. The wait begins again. :teary:

I think proof of vaccinations will vary by state. I'm not surprised CA would have that caveat. I live in TX now and the governor here basically said that's illegal to do here. Venues and businesses can get fined $$$ for requiring that.

In regards to the border: I'm sure her band is probably already back with her in Vegas. Anyone can technically come here but they can't return home if they do (which makes me wonder if we'll see any Canadian fans in Vegas for the first few shows if that persists past September). I'd be willing to bet, even if the work exception wasn't in place, they'd make an exception for Celine and her team for one night...assuming they allow the concert to go on.

I know it's not her call but I really think AEG should just cancel rather than force shows from that long ago. Not just Celine or AEG...my daughter and I had tickets, along with a couple of her friends, for JoJo Siwa when we were still in NC. That was supposed to happen earlier in 2020. The new date is now May 2022. After we moved we just refunded our tickets but there's tons of empty seats...I think because the audience she catered to then has now outgrown her. But her promoter still has that on the books. I just don't get the mindset of that?? I only bring that up to make the point it's not just Céline's shows with that issue. I know she doesn't like disappointing fans but with so many seats still open I really think she'd cancel rather than try to go on with that if she could. On the plus side...maybe everyone in the nosebleed sections will get upgraded! :)

ETA: Clearly a lot happened between when I first started typing and hit post LOL. I'm really surprised she rescheduled. They really need to cancel.

That has to be so incredibly frustrating - 3 years??!!! When you finally see the show, I know you're gonna make a NIGHT out of it! It'll be worth it.

After having a year and a half off, Celine is gonna have a busy #ss 2022 between Vegas, the rescheduled NA dates and the rescheduled European dates and then back to Vegas. Maybe even Vegas in-between CWT dates? I think we can safely expect 2023 to be only Vegas.

From a business stand point, the Courage World Tour sets/visuals/drones, etc cost them so much money to build, and now store for 18 months. If they don't do the second half of the tour, AEG will lose so much money. At this point, they're trapped - they have to fulfill all the dates that were scheduled in order to even slightly make their money back. I wouldn't be surprised if, ultimately, the CWT ends up being a loss for AEG.

I agree they'll definitely take a loss there.

Ticketmaster still shows the original dates and there's no official word from her camp yet. But I also don't think Rolling Stone would misreport that....it's not the Daily Mail or anything lol.

It may finally be time for me to just refund my LA ticket. Kind of over it all at this point tbh. The new date doesn't work well for me being Easter weekend. It's all getting too complicated to keep following the Courage postponements. May just forget it and focus on Vegas. Edited by nowanorris

Part of me wonders if that's really the reason why. That and Canada not being fully open yet...I think they just rescheduled those handful of dates together rather than just Canadian dates.

I wonder if their logic is that it'll sell better in March compared to now. But if that's the reason they need to promote that it's still happening or I fear it will just get canceled altogether. I keep saying it but it's worth noting, most general audiences probably don't realize it's happening if they got a refund when everything initially got postponed. They probably just assume she's back to Vegas, period.

This couldn’t have anything to do with the massive amount of unsold tickets, right? So, Vegas is going to be postponed, too, right? Yeah, that’s what I thought. LOL

I feel like if they don't sell in March they'll just cancel. AEG just needs to suck it up and write off those dates as a loss and focus on European dates. Does anyone know how those shows are selling?

I could care less the reason, I’m happy about this. Celine isn’t so creative these days to prepare a show period, I’d imagine it would be worse if she started up the tour next month. I hope this allows her to put all her focus on the creative aspect of this show. I hope it doesn’t feel last minute like Celine’s second residency ended up being.

At this point, I wish she’d just cancel the rest of this tour. When I think of the Courage area all I think about is Covid now, turn the lager and move on!

You can't forget that many (older) people who do have tickets still aren't very comfortable about attending a show with over 10,000 people. I think that's also part of the problem.

They won’t postpone Vegas barring another government statewide shutdown. Too much money has gone into promoting it. The resort is open, they need people in those casinos and theaters. Also, Nevada is a state that likes to pretend Covid doesn’t exist. They have one of the lowest vaccination rates in the country yet have opened everything. They’re a red state/COVID won’t stop us/it’s a hoax mindset.

I don't think the postponement had much to do with unsold tickets.

I have tickets to see Christina Aguilera at The Hollywood Bowl... & there were a lot of seats left unsold until very recently.

Many seats sold in the days leading up to the concert... because there has been a lot more promo popping up on social media & I think people are just being a little more hesitant / last-minute with their ticket purchases because of the pandemic.

I think that's how the tickets would have sold for the Celine shows too.

We would have seen a lot more tickets selling in the days leading up to the shows.

I'm actually surprised that the concerts have been postponed again.

I figured Celine would have wanted to get these shows off her plate.

I was looking forward to seeing her in September, but a silver lining is she will have a lot more time and creative energy to put into the new Vegas show now. :)

I'll probably try to get a refund for my Courage tour tickets and then see where things are at in the Spring.

It will be interesting to see if the Vegas show gets postponed too.

I was so confident that the Courage tour was going ahead... so who knows! Anything can happen.

It makes sense that Celine and her team take her older audience into account.

& maybe part of their decision - in addition to safety for everybody - was so that Celine & her team would have more time to prepare the Vegas show.

It has plenty to do with safety. Given age of Céline’s audience, and people’s concerns around being in crowds too soon certainly play into it. And if vaccines are required… well there goes a chunk of the audience. Most importantly, Canada (where concerts would have to start in a few weeks’ time) is far from opening up for large concert attendance. Our politicians and public health officials are far from the Wild West approach you see in Nevada, where they opened up far too early and are now paying for it. (And I doubt Vegas will be rescheduled; they just don’t care enough down there so long as the $$ is rolling in).

I have no doubt current sales levels played into it, but COVID is far from over.

Not to minimize anyone else's disappointment, but this actually works out well for me. I held on to my two Vancouver tickets after the last postponement and kind of regretted it very soon after given the entire situation and my own uncertainty about how/where I'll be by then - now I can get full refunds for both those shows. And it's easier still to make that decision given that the rescheduled dates are now on a Monday and Tuesday instead of the original Saturday and Sunday, which would have been much easier for me in terms of scheduling a short weekend break to Vancouver without having to take more than a day or two off work.

Don't tell me they couldn't do the US dates and just reschedule the Canadian dates. I get it though...a 5,000 seat theatre is smaller than a 50,000 seat arena, but still.

What people tend to forget is that tour dates aren't scheduled by city in a vacuum. The Vancouver dates are more logistically feasible and more profitable overall if they're bundled with an already touring company, sets, etc., along the entire west coastal territory - otherwise they'd have to store and ship an entire tour production later for just a couple of isolated dates.

Given that they had no choice but to reschedule the Vancouver dates, and the much-lesser-these-days-but-still-there uncertainty around dates in the US, it makes more sense for them to reschedule that entire leg of the tour. I'm not suggesting it's not still awful for people who are having those concerts rescheduled yet again and pushing dates out three years from the original plan, but like it or not, there's a certain level of business and logistical sense behind the decision.

(Although it does make the Pittsburgh and D.C. dates odd outliers!)

Exactly the same scenario with me. I held on to them the first time around really without thinking about it well. I guess I thought we'd be out of this mess never factored in alot of things even the COVID variants so I am SO relieved I can get my refund for Vancouver. I am fully vaccinated but I have no idea what will happen till March and I don't feel like risking anything at this point. We'll see where I am come March and I may just purchase new seats.

I remember a rumor from spring 2020, when the pandemic had really just hit, about the show in Oakland, initially scheduled for April 2020, being postponed to spring 2022. It seemed ridiculous at the time but it just came true. What a coincidence! It would be truly crazy if it was the exact same date too, though I don’t remember.

That has to be so incredibly frustrating - 3 years??!!!

Could be worse. When I finally get to see the show (June 2023) it will have been almost 4 years since I bought the tickets (October 2019)!
