I think they should drop FOMO from the setlist altogether. It's an ok song, but it just doesn't translate that well to the stage.

 

Wonder if they'll try out Imperfections tomorrow (?)

FOMO was the best thing out of the uptempo medley and IMO Celine should perform the entire song just like Courage and Lying Down.

 

But I agree, Celine should sing Imperfections too on the Tour, after all this is the Courage World Tour so performing in the francophone cities 4 songs of the album instead of the current 2.5 (considering that FOMO was almost shortened in half) would please everybody I guess.

It's Celine on a frontal stage, singing in front of videos... Kary Perry's team was really necessary for that?

Oh wait, there's a platform... she uses for like 10 secondes.

The setting is very similar to previous tours. Not that it's bad in itself, only if we'd been told about a fun tour, i wouldn't mind. The Asian tour was great. But this was suppose to be TC Tour like. Which was awesome. This one is more banal, usual.

Also, where's the dancing? I only saw 4 poor little steps...

 

Vocally... well, she struggles in the high notes.Current problem.

It's the opening night though, she tends to become more in control after a few nights. It will get better.

As a result, she approaches L'amour existe encore with her new way of singing it, deconstruting the high notes and rasp them trying to make it sounds like anger raspiness. But it's just that she can't do them anymore.

 

 

And the tracklist... Really?

Where are the hidden gems? The unsung songs?

Terre/ Dans un autre monde, seriously? Been there, done that in previous shows. What about Je crois toi and En attendant ses pas?

Ziggy is always nice (great rendition last night), but also already heard. Can we ask for a little Je danse dans ma tête from the same album? It did well in Quebec at the time, I think.

 

Where's Ashes? It's her biggest song since I'm Alive!!! I bet it will be in the english show. With Imperfections, probably, a song she just released the same day and doesn't even bother to sing. Remind me, Courage is the name of the tour, right? And she only sings 3 from it? Okay, nothing's changed here, same old pattern.

 

Can You're the voice replace RDMH/LCMM from now on? Thx!

It's a great song, Celine sings it with passion, we really feel her having fun, I love this part!

BTW, FOMO is already reduced to a medley act?!?!

Lady Marmelade, nice idea. Will she continue singing it in french for the international version of the show? It'd be nice but I highly doubt it (The Music in Me effect, I suppose). I couldn't understand any single word she was singing, though. Pas un traître mot.

Her enunciation problems don't only concern her english.

 

The final combo doesn't seem to change... MHWGO/PQTME.

She coudn't get rid of René's take on that one. I love how she began PQTME unplugged, and was a bit sad when the whole band ends up joining her. I get the dramaturgy though.

 

 

Her outfits are beautiful. Fierce, as it seems to be her new mantra (ET Canada itw).

And Red! lol Bare back dresses are her thing now? I love it.

The last white puffy one is awful, on the other hand. Sure recalls Au coeur du stade and Billboard Awards, but urgh!

Who's hungry for some meringue?

 

Last, but not least: her hair!

Can we comment on anything Celine without talking abour her hair? No we cannot!

I love it! So classy, so posh, so elegant. A bit too light, however, too blonde, light brown brassy hair would be magnificent with that cut.

I loved the wavy version of it in 2016, too.

 

 

So, I was a bit harsh on this post. It's not a bad show. But they didn't keep on the promisses they made. Big technics, screens, dance, unsung songs... Where's all that???

Also, Courage the song did it more on the show than on record, for me.

Great to see the tour get started. I think it will be better with time not that it was bad but her voice sounded a little strained on occasions.

 

The drones in MHWGO was really cool. Must have looked pretty awesome live. Also the last part of the song, the "hmmmm" stuff, was great. I like it when it's more in style with the studio version.

 

Must say I miss Ashes. Just recently the song has grown and I really like it. Maybe it will be there when they are in U.S. I hope so...

No worries, you're not harsh, you're just stating what has been a massive opinion here and disappointment, despite some delusional fans don't want to accept that this setlist WAS disappointing.

 

Agree 100% about LAEE, it's getting painful to see how she struggles to perform this song

 

Celine has clearly a problem trying to evolve in her music and shows -if there's any "trying" at all here. When she's more focused in showing off each and every one of her clothing and wardrobe changes and NOT showing off her own music and constantly picking random covers, there's a problem. An artistic problem.

 

God forbids us to employ the word "lazy" in this forum, at risk of being stoned by the same delusional rainbow parade members, but this first French setlist is exactly what it is: lazy.

 

I think it couldn't get any worse after the Hyde Park fiasco (99% same Vegas show), and thought with the tour everything would start to change here, but I was wrong.

 

The best surprise would be when you are finally happy about something! One day let's hope!

The sound quality is really different from her previous tours.. it’s like it’s upgraded.. her mic voice is not dry anymore.. I’m so glad they stepped up in sound quality..

I don't want to bring this again and I'm still amazed by what she's able to do still vocally.

 

But my point is that she is beginning a new world Tour, certainly the most ambitious one in her carreer, with the vocal shape she has normally when finishing a world tour.

 

Seriously, I don't see her finishing a world tour this way. Not possible.

 

I know Celine usually improves with time, but overal it's like a curve, beginnings are hard, then she adjust; her voice is warmer, she's getting more confident, less stress etc and then there is this normal and natural exhaustion at the end that makes it difficult. She's starting from this point actually. I can't see this happenning.

 

I also think the ear problem is certainly fixed/stabilized but not solved and we will have to deal with it from now.

She needs to embrace getting older by changing the key to some songs. A vous could have benefited from this. Others as well. It's okay. Her changing the key to "Taking Chances" on the TCWT was the best thing they could have done. And what was a train wreck at the beginning of the song's life turned into a song that she really owned.

Well, after a couple of days since the beginning of the tour and after the meltdown I had on Wednesday while trying to watch something via streaming I have my thoughts.

 

At first, I was really disappointed, I didn't like the setlist and the streaming cutting off all the time didn't help at all.

 

But after watching videos in HQ, I have to admit that I'm truly impressed by how she delivers the song nowadays. She doesn't sing songs anymore, she performs them and I think this is a major step forward in her artistry. Songs like Ziggy, Encore un Soir, Regarde Moi (evethough she struggled, I liked her interpretation), SSAD... She brought a new feeling to them and I really appreciate it.

 

Courage and Lying Down where fierce for being the first time performed live! Really, really, really good.

 

I'm not commenting the hits because I couldn't care less, however I loved the drones in MHWGO.

 

The interludes were everything, even better than the ones from TCWT, and those were already really good looking! The Ballet one is my favorite. I hope some ballet skills for Lying Down music video.

 

And I think her voice sounded strong, though she struggled in certain parts, but I believe it's because she was nervous. But had great resonance, no nasality, relaxed jaw, great tone, clarity for days... I'm not worried, it was the first concert and she was anxious, this doesn't help to the constrictors in your vocal chords.

 

So I'm not going to cry on what I don't have, I'm going to appreciate what we get. We still have the English shows to discover.

I also think it is the ear condition what makes her voice shaky. She sounded powerful but afraid of hitting some notes sometimes. She sounded great in 2016 and 17 tours right before the ear problem. It was a serious thing she had, and surgery only works like 50% of times. But I'm sure she had the ok of her doctors and vocal coaches before committing to a world tour like this.
