She skipped BYLM, Ashes, To Love You More, TTWII and LCMM probably all of which will be back in English leg to replace French ones lol...: lucky us :/

 

I doubt we’ll see any more new songs from the album or any of those back catalogue gems they spoke of.

Well of course the ones who went enjoyed it. Just like those who went to Hyde Park enjoyed it too despite it having a lazy old setlist. Seeing Céline live is always a treat. It's never like no one would ask for their money back.

 

But to me that isn't really the case. She has fans who followed her since forever, and heard the same songs live since forever. She has a HUGE reportoir. It's just a real waste to never really do a fresh setlist. If Hyde Park and the show last night got a super duper setlist (by hard core fan standards) I am convinced they wouldn't had been less satisfied with that than what they got.

 

So no sorry, for me arguments like "the audience seemed to love it" (the same old same old) doesn't justify the setlists never getting fresh air.

 

I've read more of the comments on her accounts, from the ones who attended

the show yesterday, and people loved what they got

so her team sees that the response to the first show is very positive

and people writing how they would love to go and see her again.

FOMO in a medley? Her last uptempo song not sung in full but squeesed into a medley? Yea sure she has too many up tempo's to sing so shorten this one up please. Have I woke up in Wonderland??

 

To sing the chorus of FOMO is extremely hard. I believe it was a right decision to sing it in a lower key

so her voice won't crack too many times on this one and she did well!

And having in mind this one is complicated to sing live

I don't see any wrong they included this as part of a medely

in a weird way it did work imo.

 

I do apperciate her for singing this one live EVEN IN A LOWER KEY

didn't people ask her to try and sing more live even in a lower key.

Well if she doesn't like to sing songs from her reportoir AND she doesn't like to sing her new material, BUT she loves performing covers - I think she should go on and record tribute albums. Like for Queen for example. For real. If that gets her juices flowing, she should do that. And be clear with that. Play with open cards... I'd love to embrace that!

 

But this talk about taking courage into the new and give us a tour like no other. Hyping it up about new sound (if I am not mistaken), digging through her old reportoir to find "new" songs, and Pepe telling it will be all "her her her". And then it turns out to barely be anything new, same arrangements as since forever (?) + introducing even more covers (again I am not a cover hater, but it doesn't add up with how they presented it) I don't get it.

 

Don't hype things up if you don't intend to follow through. She could just easily have said: "Oh it's a world tour to re-establish myself with the world by reminding them of what I have always offered plus I'll throw in some tributes to artists I adore". That would had been a more honest way of selling the tour. And none of us would whine now.

 

Possibly why a songwriter like Sia or Pink give Celine the “leftovers”; they know that 98% of the songs on her albums never see the stage, but she loves to have a tribute show.

Something i just thought of...celine isnt a song writer. She sings other peoples songs whether its a cover or whether it ends up on her album. She sings songs that she feels some connection to. That is the biggest thing. Read that again. She is going to sing songs she is connected to and feels something. To her, wherher it was previously on an album or just a new cover - it's likely one in the same to her because its technically not her song either way.

Not someone else's music that I don't like at all and wouldn't even want to pay money to listen to from the original artist. People have different tastes. I went to all her early Vegas concerts multiple times, but as soon as the residency started including nothing but covers of this and that and ancient era music that is really not to my taste, I stopped going. I was hoping that since this is another world tour, there would be more emphasis on her own work, but no... here we go again giving the same thing people didn't want to go travel to see.

 

Songwriting matters to me. As much as the voice. I don't connect to these other artists' music that she randomly decides to throw in. What should matter in providing an entertainment event is entertaining the fans, not herself. Or don't bill it as a world tour in support of an English album and I wouldn't have bought tickets.

I LOOOOVED that she kept her way of singing the verses from the studio version. Didn't really expect her to since it's a new (and modern) way of singing for her. Glad she did. Nice performance! Still think this would have done really well as an encore though. Imagine her sitting there on the stage in the MHWGO dress (similar to the Hyde Park Imagine performance). It would be such a nice ending for the concert and a way to both say thanks to Réné and set sail to her new future (by calling courage). Or would it be a too sad note to end on?

 

 

(haha on the Illuminati symbolism in her shows though. The planet symbolism... the eclipse. The conspiricy theorists must have not taken notice to this yet - they would rollover in it and tie it so well with her Celinenunu Illuminati symbolism too )

Again if she promoted the shows (or the era) as devoted to covers it would be a totally different thing.

 

And if she still feels like having covers in this type of shows (CWT) I think they should be a) telling something (ok I have been explained the possible meaning of YTV so I buy that) or be really great songs (like NMQP in Vegas). But some songs here (I admit I haven't listened to the medley), for example Lady Marmalade - like for real?? How banal, over and done with isn't that song. If they ought to take place from her old reportoir, or songs from Courage for that matter they should use it as a minimum and be pretty darn good. Now it feels like she fills up space coz she had nothing else to deliver, so they go for "karaoke night" to get the time roll by.

Yesterday her voice kept cracked down during the show not few times to say the least

so going for a full version with this one I don't think was a good idea

plus having it already in a lowered key

So they found a creative idea for a change to have it as part

of some nice dancable fun medley, singing it live, not killing her vocal chords

and she enjoyed it to the top.

 

And you know what, this medley as much as I keep hearing it, actually

becomes really fun to listen too, though sure it will be a treat

to have a dance medley that include only hers

I never said she should have done it all in full all live (I very well expected them to stick to the precorded material, as they tend to do for 15 years or so, I am not dumb)

 

And I don't buy your theory that they at her opening night just coz they found out her voice was in a "cracking mood" thought "hey that FOMO track, the live verses there we need to do something about it now. Oh I get it! We shorten it up, put it in a medley, lower they key, she can sing it all live. Let's rehearse that for tonight, and all is well in the world."

The point with some songs is not if they're demanding to sing live or not. There are some songs that sound good even in a lower key and others don't. And that's the case in FOMO, I know it's difficult to sing live every night, but it doesn't sound good in a lower key, it kills the mood of the song. It also happened with IDAN in 2017's summer tour, it sounded boring, and it killed the mood of the song, that is supposed to cheer up the audience.

So, if she's going to sing some songs in a lower key, please check that it sounds good.

I think they should drop FOMO from the setlist altogether. It's an ok song, but it just doesn't translate that well to the stage.

 

Wonder if they'll try out Imperfections tomorrow (?)

FOMO was the best thing out of the uptempo medley and IMO Celine should perform the entire song just like Courage and Lying Down.

 

But I agree, Celine should sing Imperfections too on the Tour, after all this is the Courage World Tour so performing in the francophone cities 4 songs of the album instead of the current 2.5 (considering that FOMO was almost shortened in half) would please everybody I guess.
