One good thing came from this show yesterday... usually I’m a critic of RDMH and LCMM... and I found myself missing LCMM compared to what she replaced it with and for me in that whole mess of a medley RDMH was the highlight AND that’s saying a lot... since I have never liked it before... at this point I’d rather hear those than what they gave us yesterday!

Look around friend; people who usually never criticize a setlist or show are complaining about the lack of creativity of yesterday’s show. I would hardly say I’m “trashing” everything she does. For the money they charge and branding of this show to be showing “courage”; it simply was misleading. If they would have named the show, “Celine, live 2019” I would almost understand...

 

Actually no, its mostly the same 10-15 people who havent stopped being negative since i first became aware of this forums existance (February). I myself am unhappy with some of the things as I clearly voiced last night, the difference is, i voiced my opinion of the situation and then moved on, yall cant go 10 minutes without dragging something else up and talking smack about something else. Its like a broken record, the same things, 20 times a day, 7 days a week... say what you need to say, you’re entitled too, ill most likely agree in most cases, however its the undying continuation of things which happened ages ago and are still brought up, even stuff from yesterday, people have made 30/40 different posts about the same thing in like 12 hours... a mess. Please, feel free to share your thoughts, I encourage you to. But when it gets to a state of ad nauseam... i get pissy

Not hearing a lot of her french songs daily, I did enjoyed to hear some of her french repertoire

and with the selist she had imo she did try to give the best of her.

When hearing the medely in the end

I was like from where that came now? but dare I say seeing Celine having such a great time

rocking out the stage, it was actually real fun and she loves to sing covers

there is nothing we can do about it. She is seeing those positive reactions from the general audience

so for her is a "big yes" to keep doing this.

 

What about the cool dance moves she did during the show?

That was really nice as well.

 

So definitely she puts out a great entertaining show, she is such an amazing performer.

But with that, and being honest, I can understand some of the disappointment, because these are hardcore fans

writing it, there is no need either to disrespect them and see all in pink colours

and knowing how expensive are the tickets.

 

If her team said they digged songs until late in night and found some gems

and then not performing any in the new show it's sure dissapointing,

but on the other side, I wasn't surprised about the setlist

because after hearing her on ET Canada she "warned"

she will sing quite the same songs as always

 

There is this something contracticing going on that might have arose some expections that's true.

 

If the setlist could be better and be more creative? that's for sure, there is always things that can be better

it's a an exhausting situation for hardcore fans indeed, since the focus on the setlist is not for the hardcore fans,

willing to hear never performed old gems, or just old gems, yes this is a downer

but I hope all that will be changed later on, or who knows, I hope for these upcomings shows

there will be at least a slight change in the setlist, that might be really nice and can give a bit of freshness.

 

Other than that I find it hard to believe she will do the very same shows she do now for the European shows

After the album will be released I want to believe things will get really interesting

and maybe I might be wrong, but I feel that she is keeping some surprises on their way...

and we still don't know what are the other new gems Celine might have in the new album.

The live verson of Courage with the added guitar during all the song is pure bliss! It's perfect for a radio mix!

It’s quite strange that nowadays most of her live arrangements are better (or less a mess) than the studio ones!

I have nothing against her PR but I don't se the need for it to continue still. Is there more Prince songs I am blocking from memory?

 

I don't get the fixation with covers - and I used to love her doing covers. But it's gotten out of hand and they aren't even THAT good. It's like she's an artist in the beginning of her career with only one album out and using covers to fill up the concerts with..

In terms of creativity, the show gets a 1/10. Opening with "IACBTMN" was epic and set us up for something new and refreshing! Then - BAM - same old stuff all over again.

 

I usually find the Franco setlists to be the best - I hope this time I feel that was about the anglo shows.

 

Opening of the show is just horrible : They made a great intro video for the opening of the show with a great beat with which they should instantly follow with an up tempo track to bring an incredible ambiance but instead of that she appears like a diva, waits for the people to applaude/cheer to begin her show and then starts with a ballad IACBTMN.

When i first heard and saw the intro video i was convinced that she would open her show with Fade Away.

Well, she clearly a) loves the song, b ) it fits very well with the entire ethos of this tour (new chapter / taking action / making a point / taking a stand theme and all that), plus c) it has a very timely and pertinent political message (which is something she's never really done and I'm glad to finally see it from her).

 

So I, for one, would much rather You're The Voice stay in this show than I'm Alive (which I think is just really bad high school poetry).

Possibly why a songwriter like Sia or Pink give Celine the “leftovers”; they know that 98% of the songs on her albums never see the stage, but she loves to have a tribute show.

The only thing an complain is YTV and the Medley, replace it by whatever she wants from her catalog. I'm paying to see a Celine Dion Concert not a tribute concert.

 

For those saying that she does what she wants, of course she can. But let's not forget she is where she is because of the fan that love her but alors her songs, so respect from the artist toward the fan is not to be neglected.

 

Just replacing YTV + Medley by : BYLM, TTWII, Destin, Incognito and FOMO would make a huge difference.

Whether they would be in French or English isn't the main issue.

It's that it were covers and not her own uptempos.

I understand they were not able to play more songs from Courage because it's not released yet.

 

But why would you squeeze FOMO into a medley, and totally ignore Imperfections, that you just released the same day, if it's to promote your new album.

 

Celine you like singing covers, but safe it for a new mini tour, the one you talked about and wanted to sing only covers that would be the perfect place.

 

 

 

Not an entirely french show, not only did scott himself make it clear it was a bilingual show, but its also a show promoting an english album, its not like a summer tour where shes promotinng a french album, its the opposite

Sadly in a way she is neglecting some of her best gems,

but I wouldn't never say she is ashamed of her repertoar

she worked the hell out of her to be where she is now.

 

Celine sometimes even contradicting herself

when she says how she can't stand to sing the same songs

over and over again but after all,

what if she feels some songs will be more easy

for her to sing live? or just really have great time

to sing what she wants from her own reasons.

 

I've read more of the comments on her accounts, from the ones who attended

the show yesterday, and people loved what they got

so her team sees that the response to the first show is very positive

and people writing how they would love to go and see her again.

 

Again improvements can be done and I wish they will be done

to the setlist, to the point we all say it's really a blast!

but at this stage I think it's really too early to judge the Tour

let's hope we will soon see the "best is yet to come".

The point you quoted wasnt even discussing covers.... i was talking about the “imbalance” of english and french songs people were talking about so all the things you just said dont realiy make sense.. but okay.

I think they should drop FOMO from the setlist altogether. It's an ok song, but it just doesn't translate that well to the stage.

 

Wonder if they'll try out Imperfections tomorrow (?)

FOMO just doesnt work in the lower key, its completely lifeless and her voice sounds flat and dull

Nice video! So refreshing to see her perform something she hasn't performed a gazillion times!

 

The backing vocals didn't do too well here though, maybe it's the sound caption. I am not too thrilled about Sias voice on the album but it seemed to still be a shoe too big for the backing vocals to fill up...

 

She looks so good in this new look. So fresh and neat. And it looks great guys, despite it being blonde.

It would be much easier to accept though if it was in a smashing setlist! But like I said I got the impression we got a rather disapointing one (despite all the hype ) Would be glad if someone could show me the way to the complete setlist.

I can't find the HD video of FOMO from yesterday's show,

you guys should see how she was happy to sing and feel the song.

If she thought that changing the key does work for her

so let it be. I'm really proud of her for stepping out of the comofot zone

with this one.

 

She is not getting any younger

I hope she is up to a training vocal routine.

Will be happy to keep seeing any slight progress on that aspect

so she can work the songs out without killing her vocal chords

even to find out there will be new arrangements later on

that will help her on that aspect+ giving freshness to the songs

will be great.
