I hate there are no dancers. Towards the end when she holds the dress and turns to the audience 4 or 6 female dancers appearing behind her strutting towards the audience would bring that performance to a whole other level

I'm all for Bowie and Queen covers in a medley - but those particular songs? They're both quite monotone and an odd choice for her. I'd expect something more melodic and vocally demanding. Those are... "one note songs".

So this happened. Celine was so gracious tonight after the show. She stopped the car for about 15 minutes and signed and took pictures for about everyone.

 

She told me she likes my sweatshirt. I said that i love her and traveled all the way from Indiana and i loved it. She said thankyou for coming. It wasn't my best photo but hey she looked fantastic and I'm not complaining.

I wanted to make a joke about being the same age as LCMM which got dropped for first time in my life, but figured that small bit may be enough to revive it and people wouldn't be happy with me lol.

 

The show

 

First, i love that this for me was an unspoiled setlist. Ive now seen six setlists. All six were within the first three shows for each "setlist"..." closest i ever came to being unspoiled before was in bordeaux where i only knew the first two songs. Didn't even know that here. Tonight i was unaware of anything and i am glad i came just for that.

 

The visuals in person do definitely add some perception to the performances. I

wouldn't say its the best I've seen at any show (in general), but for celine the visuals were a step up from anything relating to her previous shows.

 

Whether it was celine appearing in front of a backdrop to add to the song (like EUS) or the multiple interludes, overall visuals were good.

I am glad the interludes were done like this rather than giving barnev a song.

 

iacbtmn was an interesting choice to open with. The unison tease to start had me more excited than iacbtmn!!

 

In recent years quebec shows seen 80% french which was great. I think the english headlining tour caused a slight conflict on not knowing the best balance of english vs french, but i think this was a good balance.

Everyone complaining needs to remember the setlist will change several songs come cleveland. Hopefully by time the rest of the predictables are placed there is still room for a classic longly untouched gem or two.

 

Highlights: a vous, regarde moi, tous les blues sont ecrits pour toi, the interludes, and the new covers.

Lowlights- you're the voice and kiss. No "opportunity" to sometimes let fans sing mhwgo ending.. *cough* please go back to live on this ending.

 

Also, i just want to say I've thought many times about what it would sound like for celine to sing another one bites the dust. I am happy it sounded as great as i anticipated.

 

So my trip here is very short and i head home tomorrow. Very glad i came. It was nice to talk to several of you after the show too!

 

Also i got several videos of full songs but connection here is too slow to upload tonight. Will be tomorrow.

 

Omg!! That’s awesome!!! I was the gal in the matching sweatshirt (hii!) I was totally thinking of waiting for her at the end but had no idea where to go lol. At least my outfit made it there..!! ;p So happy for you!!

I think it’s a horrible selection.

 

Nothing new, only the few songs from the new album. She has so many beautiful songs, songs she hasn’t done in a long time or that she’s never done before. This is so non-creative and easy, as far as the setlist goes, again, no words.

 

And we can all wait for the English leg for it to get better. But Hello, there’s so many people going to the French shows, she’s doing French speaking countries next year... People are paying a lot of money. The French leg is supposed to be good as well! It’s ridiculous the way it is now.

 

Anyway, my opinion. And I’ve seen her a lot live, not just the videos. I’m very very loyal. But I’m being honest and I don’t like this at all. Sorry.

There was quite a bit of English for a French show. All I’m saying is it’s a treat to hear her French repertoire once in a while.

Y’all do realize the French shows next year won’t be the same this year! She’ll be more fully French with those shows. The real marketing drive for the tour was her first tour in the US in 11 years and I truly believe she will show us all what she’s been working on when she gets to Cleveland! Last night was her first show and I am sure she can only go up from here!

I just noticed the drones in MHWGO! What a nice touch. They made the “waterfall” in a different way! I really do like how the tulle dress matches the aestethic and vibes of the underwater scene.

So far from non-hardcore “i hate everything she does” fans, ive seen nothing but extremely positive reviews. I think we all do seem to forget sometimes, at least 90% of that audience dont know or care about her performing a song shes never done before like TYLAM, they probably dont even know it exists. Why should we as the 5-10% dictate what the 100% sees when its evident they would MUCH rather hear TPOL, IACBTMN and MHWGO than I Want You To Need Me, I Aint Gonna Look The Other Way and Have a Heart. I mean the fact that in the 2017 tour, the RTD/LIAWN rare song moment is where droves went to the restroom and to get more drinks

Definitely a beautiful dress, and it makes an impression on stage, but I'll be interested to see how long it sticks around. That limited range of motion would have to get frustrating after a while.

I think sometimes we need a reminder ...We are not the only fans and if we are being realistic the larger group of fans buying tickets are more interested in the same songs they've always loved from celine. Maybe with some new songs sprinkled on. Get over yourselves with your expectations...she is giving fans what they want. We aren't the only fans out there. That being said... I LOVE the new music. I hope the more it's heard the bigger the reception becomes ��

 

No fan that I know of has EVER asked for or wanted a setlist with half covers that aren't even good or songs that people want to pay to hear. I'm not looking for karaoke night.

All the Québécoise press I’ve seen on the tour is so uplifting and positive! People love what she’s done and it’s obvious it’s authentically her!

 

I really can’t wait to see her again tomorrow

Yeah most people are positive about the tour.... it’s just the same bunch of people on here who have looked at the set list and not cared to see how much work has gone into the tour!

I've been thinking about the set list since last night, and the only adjective I can come up with for it is "confusing." I can appreciate how tricky it is to walk the line with a bilingual show in a tour that is meant to promote an English album, and the expectation of the general public to hear the hits, but, holy cow, was that a random mishmash of songs. Why is You're The Voice still there? Wouldn't That's The Way It Is or Destin be equally as crowd-pleasing? And she's still doing Kiss in spite of the existence of songs like Ma Faille, Tu Sauras, Incognito, JDDMT, IDAN, etc.? Excluding BYLM but keeping BATB? Playing a bunch of up-tempo remixes to get the crowd hyped before the show, and giving a hint of Unison, but then starting the show with...IACBTMN?

 

I'm sure they're working out the kinks, and the English shows will have a lot of differences. It's evident that there has been a lot of work involved in putting it together. The interludes and visuals are great. The wardrobe is stunning. I got emotional while watching video of PQTME. There's a lot to love, and I'm still excited for the US leg.

 

But I do hope that as the tour progresses, they'll think a bit about how to rework things to flow a bit more, and take the audience along on a journey. I guess it sort of feels like a collection of songs put together in an order with (seemingly) no rhyme or reason.

Ok that's really nice!!!! goes to say (again) that judging a performance from a crappy, choppy stream. Without being there, It's an absolute waste of time. I was really taken aback (even if I'm not a fan of the setlist) at some of the comments yesterday as I was watching the same stream as everyone...how could anyone judge her voice from that dreadful sound or some other details or even her energy from a stream that was pixelated and all over the place. It just goes beyond me.

 

And also, there's absolutely no problem with sharing ones opinion good or bad, but you (the same usual suspects) don't have to say the same thing over and over and over and over again, it's really annoying.

The set list is super close to being fabulous! Definitely more for general audiences. I think folks will love these covers she’s doing. It surprises people which is great!

 

The only 2 I’d change are Kiss & You’re the Voice — but she clearly loves both. And this tour is all about Celine doing what she wants and tapping into her own strength.

 

By the time Cleveland rolls around, we’ll all have a better idea of what this show really is.

 

She looks fantastic and so strong! And the higher quality videos prove how solid the visuals actually are. And her voice sounds great! It’ll get better and better.

You're absolutly right and the feedbacks clearly show that as an evidence.

 

Still the quite negative feelings concerning the setlist are totally understandable.

 

First I think we were all prepared to lower our expectations for the same reasons you mentioned. But it's them who gave us more details that at the end just didn't occure. We didn't see more than 20% of what THEY SAID. That is not fair. If somehow "those never seen things" will be progressively revealed when we will have a 100% english show then, be a little bit more specific. I understand contradictions, I understand that we are way too litteral when we want to, I understand the complexity behind speeches. I more than understand that we represent less than 10% of what the general public would want. But when you say this and it's 0. And it already happenned. It's just no. Enough !

 

Secondly at one point, it's enough (again sorry), there 's no more excuses for songs such as You're the voice and Kiss. She likes it ? Fine, she certainly also loves to cook, and no one wants to see that on stage. At one point it's just called contradiction. It is healthy, necessary and someone should just tell her that no, it's not a good idea. Or very simple things like: Celine in 30 years we explored less than 10% of your repertoire. Let's maybe try something here ? Celine, you know in life in general we cannot present the same things eternaly on stage ?

 

And I'm being nice because I just want to puke when I see random things like Bowie, and I love him that's not the problem.

As somebody who sings. THere are times when our voice fluctuates a lot. This is more frequent as we age. This is the time when we are not too confident with our voice. This usually happens when our vocals are kinda tired and also happens when there's a sudden change like when we sing with short notice and we exhaust our vocal chords by not doing warm ups. This is the thing that happens to everyone and all singers. Sometimes it just destroys the mood and enthusiasm to do agreat show, I imagine Celine felt that way. She must have felt bad because she was not that confident esp it's the opening night of her world tour. Our vocal chord is a muscle the more we use it in the right manner the stronger it becomes as long as we do not over use it. So she should be fine after several days of rest and proper warm up.

I am not having a go at anyone if they love "You're The Voice", "Kiss", "Lady Marmalade", "Let's Dance" or "Another One Bites The Dust" so to be quite honest I'd expect the same respect back when I say that, for me, they have no place in the show. Nobody is right or wrong!

 

By comparison Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Madonna have a combined total of ZERO covers in their recent shows. Their set lists contain a total of 79 songs and all 79 are their own songs. Do you reckon any of their fans are leaving the concerts thinking "I really wish she'd done a Queen song tonight" or "It is SO poor that she only sings her own songs!"

 

If you like the very limited concert time being taken up by covers that's fair enough, I respect that. But please, have some respect for those who aren't in love with all the covers too. I'm a massive fan of Celine. All I want is to hear her sing her own songs. I don't see what's so wrong with that but, again, if you feel differently then fair enough.

I dont care if she sings Mary had a little lamb as long as shes there in front of me singing and performing and having a good time -and we are breathing the same oxygen. She cant please everyone. She is literally bending over backwards to put off an amazing show! It's ok to discuss song choices and I get there will be some disappointments but a show like this is huge, vast, insane and costly. Imagine all the planning that has gone into it all? And maybe Celine wanted to do songs that she is most comfortable singing. And again- first show of a massive tour. Doing the whole thing start to finish in front of thousands of people for the very first time- singing some brand new songs for the first time for an audience I cant imagine the nerves, the pressure, the pain, the excitement. This show will evolve and get better with every performance! She has a busy year ahead. She is a superwoman - I think I would lose my mind if I had to be "on" all the time like that! Good thing she had tons of energy and good support!

Shaun she did sing all her own songs.... are your referring to the medley at the end? The section she clearly loves and is hardly most of the show?

 

It speaks wonders when someone said people went for a toilet break when she sang lying down... she is singing songs that majority of people will be engaged with. That’s what makes a successful tour...

 

I really want to see Madonna live but looking at her set list I won’t be going... I don’t know many of the songs and can’t stand her new album. Now if she did more songs i know and enjoy, I might just go.

 

We can’t have everything... some tweeks would nice but all in all the show is pretty incredible. The production is better than we have seen since TCWT. I respect your opinion btw, I just have my own
