I'm speaking about Courage and Imperfection actually, like fred expressed it, we really have here something new, her phrasing has never been that modern, it's part of vocal technique, and I think it's something she worked on recently, not something natural especially knowing where she comes from.

I may not like everything she does with LMBTL vocally wise but I'm happy she did it, I think that's what makes her an artist and what distinguishes herself from any other performer, her ability to bring her voice exactly where she wants to. I hope she won't stop exploring.

The top ring of seats seemed to have sparcity, was this during the show or before it started as the top ring looks rather empty... and theres also sparcity in the ringof seats just above the floor 😖

I'm on cloud nine this week and I think we all should be.

Celine's three new songs are absolutely beautiful.

She looks stunning and like the fashion icon she is.

Our Queen has kicked off her World Tour -- which will only get better and better!

There's so much to be happy about and to celebrate!!! A whole new album is coming in November and reception so far has been so positive!

I think the stage looks awesome. I love how they're using the screens to show Céline from multiple angles simultaneously while also incorporating graphics. Can't wait to (eventually) see it in person!

Wow - I couldn’t go through all the pages of bitching on this thread from people who weren’t even at the concert. I was there 2nd row and it was AMAZING! She looked and sounded great. Maybe a little nervous of it being the start of a new tour. The crowd loved it.

 

I’m sick of people bitching about You’re The Voice - I FLOVE that song and I’ve said ever since the 2018 tour that if she doesn’t record that for the new album, she’s crazy. Considering how long she’s kept it in the show and that it’s going to stay on the Courage World Tour, I think it’s pretty much guaranteed that it’ll be on the album.

 

I loved hearing Ziggy, LEE, DAUM and T live - all the English hits that she can never get rid of are there. And the uptempo medley with all the covers and FOMO was a helluva lot of fun. All of us there were screaming and dancing and singing along. It was fun!!!! Do you people sitting at your computers not understand the definition of the word “fun?????!!!!!” For crying out loud, just stop being Celine Dion fans. Move on to another artist. You clearly don’t like her.

Honestly at this point, I'm getting the feeling Celine just does not care about her own songs, whether they're English or French. Maybe since she didn't write them, she doesn't even remember the lyrics to the ones she hasn't sung 1 million times by now. I would have been thrilled to hear even Destin, Les Derniers Seront Les Premiers, En Attendent Ses Pas, or anything from 1F4T or D'elles. She picked literally the most bland and boring songs out of her entire French setlist. The mind boggles and I facepalm every time I look at the setlist.

She says “often times the songs of (her) she likes the best are what they call the “b” sides, but I can’t perform them all”.....

 

Please Celine you don’t have to sing them all, but how about maybe just maybe at least ONE lol....

I bought tickets for the first English show...hopefully you’re right but I’m so skeptical.

 

I’m thinking of selling my tickets, cause they were expensive for this show that they offering... however i say “what if” for once they do make it a great show and take chances on the US leg, I’d kick myself... I guess I have 30 days to decide.

Do not sell the tickets IMO. You should attend the tour. Current set-list includes 20 songs, 10 of which are French, so these should be replaced. I am sure songs from the album will eventually make it to the tour, as well as catalog songs they spoke about. I doubt they lied. There was no need to. I think they are indeed saving the best for later.

 

Besides, the concert is a collective experience. The crowd, the energy, so much love for Celine in the stadium. You tend to focus less on the songs.

Of course you had fun and enjoyed, you were jumping on clouds everyday weeks before the show when we knew absolutely nothing of it and the songs Your enthusiasm is laudable If the Queen asks the audience to stand up and dance or clap during RDMH and I'm in front of her, of course I'm not a party pooper who remains on his seat crossing my arms and a long face because I'm mad she's not singing the song I want: I obviously stand up and dance and join the party, even if in my head I'm rolling up my eyes and thinking "oh not this song again", same as Celine Dion herself is doing in her thoughts in that precise moment by the way This is just common seense right.

 

I too had fun and enjoyed meeting so many people in Hyde Park show in London in July, and at the same time was pissed off with the robotic show I just attended, having seen 90% of it already two years ago in the same city, AND I met many people who felt the same. We didn't hide our disappointment. We shared thoughts and exchanged opinions during 5 minutes after the concert and that was it. Next. We moved on to have a drink. One thing does not go against the other

The Reason... eh maybe. Think Twice i highly, highly doubt. It had literally zero impact in the US, dont think anyone outside hardcores over here know it. And even if she does include the 5 songs you say she will... thats still another 5 songs that are completely open

What some of you don't seem to understand, is that us "moaners" here for the setlist LOVE Celine.

Deeply. For many years. That's why we're upset when she's not up to what she CAN be.

You're very not demanding of herself as she claims to be with her own work. A bit of a logical conundrum here.

She's supposed to be a perfectionnist: so when we know she can do better, we're frustrated. And she CAN do better. Without even having to try very hard. Here's why.

 

I'm talking exclusively about the setlist here. Her voice is still great, she's struggling some times but it's normal for her age - besides at the beginning of tours she's always a little down, stressed out, etc...

That part will get better.

 

 

Of course casual fans want the hits.

There's no way she could skip TPOL, PQTME, MHWGO, IACBTMN. They'll always be in her shows. You don't have to worry.

But do they care for the "fillers" during shows? The less known songs which are bound to fill in between hits?

Its very easy to please the general public and the die hard fans all at once: do the hits, do 5/6 songs from the album the tour is name after, do cover of artists you like (since she obviously loves doing that - and I love it too)... and the rest is rarely sung songs!

For example: 5 hits, 5 mild success, 5 songs from the album, 2,5 covers, 2,5 unknown songs.

Of course, it would require more time, rehearsal, arrangements (well, not that much since they almost always do songs the exact same way they sound on disc)... Isn't what an artist is suppose to offer when performing live?

Someone took umbrage when Celine was called an entertainer instead of an artist. Isn't an artist suppose to reinvente herself, trying new things, evolve, growing in her art?

How is it art to sing the same setlist for 20 years?

 

Yes, die hard fans saw every tour on youtube - or physically by travelling to see her. Not the general public.

So you really think the general public will be disappointed to hear L'abandon instead of Tous les blues?

Or Je danse dans ma tête instead of Terre? You're seriously tinking that?!

No, they don't care, since they're supposedly only here to have "FUN" (as someone wrote) and to hear her sing MHWGO and ABM.

Hence, there's room to please die hard fan as well by randomizing less-known songs between the hits.

 

Tous les blues was a great addition in 2016. It was nice to see it again in 2017 reinvented with the sexy dance and outfit.

But why putting it back in 2019 without any significent change?

Why put it in again instead of allowing her public to discover another unsung gem like L'abandon, Elle, Je cherche l'ombre,...she never performed during her tours, or Je danse dans ma tête which hasn't been sung live in decades? Meanwhile, she sang Tous les blues on two of the last three tours before this one... since of course she coulnd't sing it in Asia.

Pleasing die hard fans who can skip the hits and have different low profile songs every tour, while pleasing the general public with the hits (Ballads) and the fun that mildly successful uptempo songs can bring isn't that difficult.

I mean, that's basically her job, isn't it?

 

 

Regarding the fact that if we're not liking what we're having, we can not buy tickets: well, very accurate.

I was excited to buy tickets for London and Paris. Then I gasped at the gap between the announces and the result pesented. So I'll wait to see if the english setlist get better 'coz I wonder if I have to spend so much money for this one since my income is very low.

And I've seen her 7th times in the past.

I said it before but for the English leg she has two get rid of those two covers from the other night, and keep LCMM out.

 

A way of keeping in the classics for the general public but giving us a slight break is to put TPOL/ BYLM/IACBTMN into a medley to make way for older gems/new songs, open with a better song that flows slot better with the intro video, and do something show amazing for one part of the show... yes the drones are cool but its not a wow moment in a world tour show it’s size and for the artist she is.

 

The Bowie graphics are incredible though and I love that song
