The songs were recorded by another singer. And nobody can sound like Céline so that was to be expected, don't you think?

I wonder if the second clip about changing her outfit for the last minute was real... but it was funny :giggle:

Edit

I realized that it resembles the outfit she wore in Oscars 1997. And I remember she was wearing this gown already outside on red carpet. So, it was not last minute change.

You mean Oscars 1998? For the Oscars 1997, she wore the Chanel gown and sang BYLM and IFFS...

Is there any leak or stream to this film online yet

I am totally fine with the fact they may have taken some liberties with the accent and look. Took me a second to realise that Guy Claude Kamar is Rene lol. That makes RC Junior Kamar.

Well, it's premiere day, so presumably reviews will be out shortly thereafter.

And looks like Cannes will stream some arrivals later today? A number of the Quebecois actors should be there alongside Valerie, and Victoria Sio https://www.instagra.../p/CRQ78BeFyKB/

For what it's worth, apparently Celine's team told Valerie she's too busy at the moment, prepping the new Vegas show. to see it. They said "next year", according to the article here (from Le Parisien, I believe): https://www.instagra.../p/CRQ7OkDLD9n/

Will they show the movie on livestream or at least the reaction of the audience?

Certainly not on livestream! It's Cannes after all. :D

So only their reactions after watching the film?

Interesting to read it's been sold to 42 or 43 countries but not yet in the US. Curious to see what happens there.

Also, good to have Valerie's confirmation again that Celine did sign off (via her management).

Anyway, nice interview. Nothing really new if you've already read the French ones several months ago.

I love how he describes it as "magnificent camp." But I don't understand the Wendy Williams comparison.

Now, it makes me more excited to watch this but WHEN? lol

"As the credits rolled, the premiere audience whooped with approval. The standing ovation for “Aline” lasted for a full five minutes.

“I was actually crying,” said one French attendee at the film’s bittersweet conclusion."

It gets me interested to watch the movie more now, and the "Rene" did a good job, he looks and sounds quite like Rene.

Disappointing to read the reviewer found it adulatory. That's the one thing I was hoping Valerie would avoid by changing the names and not having Celine involved.

Clearly any authorized biopic won't show the subject "warts & all" because they, or their estate, will want to control how they're portrayed. One would expect a degree of distance - which I thought was the point here - would allow the filmmakers to avoid that.

But if this is pretty much a film version of the fawning "For Keeps", with the names changed and some other minor creative embellishments, well it suddenly becomes far less interesting.

Anyway, this JDM article has an interview with Sylvain Marcel (his first on the subject, I believe): https://www.journald...val-de-cannes-1

He says they have a press conference and interviews happening tomorrow. (Press conferences seem to all be posted on the Cannes YT account by the way.)

It still amazes me that’s he’s actually from Charlemagne. Given the place is, like, one intersection and a few blocks in size, and given his proximity in age to Céline, they might have actually gone to school together!
