How can you say she’s not creative?? That’s so far from the truth! I saw this tour in Vegas and yeah it’s very simple but she makes it work! Trust me Céline’s a professional and she is doing the best she can! And also you have to remember she’s 50 years old! Of course she’s not gonna be like she was during A New Day. People age and change and she’s changing and maturing as an artist :-) I understand your side of things but I don’t like hearing people say she needs to retire because if she does y’all will be complaining that she needs to do a show. She can’t please everyone but let’s try and be a little kinder towards her! Yes we all have a right to our opinion and I won’t put yours down but I don’t like reading these!

First of all by "retire" we mean extended break that Celine deserves. Since she was pregnant with the twins in 2010 she hasn't had time off to relax and just grow as a person and as an artist as well and really think about what she wants to do. The only time she has had off in 8 years was to have twins, take care of Rene, grieve Rene, back pains, ear surgery.

 

Also, at one point this setlist was creative, but its now been recycled to death, how can you say it's still creative? It's recycled. When she first started that setlist it WAS creative , now its just comfortable and safe.

Your right about the set list I meant more like the visuals and just how everything is put together as a whole. As far as the set list goes I’m with you I don’t like them butchering it every run! But I guess I just try to look beyond the set list and find the creativity in the show you know :-)

I am not going to talk about the setlist or anything related to the Celine's involvement on what she's up to, but I have to share with you a few considerations about her current vocal shape. I guess it's been since late 2015 that she's started to lose some of her singing consistency: she was singing live many difficult songs, and at the same time she knew René didn't have much time left and therefore I don't think she was very focused on her vocals. Back then she was experiencing some pitch problems and delivering some rough vocals: at the beginning of the 2016 tour she seemed to look fine and back on track, but we all know she wasn't as good as she was a year before. Then, back in Vegas, she added (luckily) from time to time more lipped segments: this led to a good enough vocal shape for the 2017 tour, but what has been missing all along was her signature perfect pitch and her consistency. Now her vocal tone seems to be under loads of funny sounds, as if she's not able to release it, unless she's in the studio! It's not just the power that's going away faster and faster: I think we never had a good enough performance for Ashes, HDAMLF, EUS, l'etoile.. Her old stuff is OK, but with her new tracks it is like she doesn't really know how to aim at a good vocal performance.. I mean, LMBTL is way harder and demanding than what she published lately, yet she managed to sing it live original key, without shredding it or dodging the difficult parts.. She needs to rest! I want her to sound as good as I know she can!

This is spoken from someone who has clearly never worked in the entertainment industry. As someone who has done so for the past 30 years now, let me say that what you believe is false. What happens when an artist doesn't sing their hits is that the audience stops coming back and spending their money.

 

I'll never forget when the LTAL tour started - I saw it in Chicago early on in the tour. Celine didn't sing TPOL. (It later went into the show.) My friend was livid. LIVID!!! That was her favorite Celine song. How could Celine NOT sing that song, my friend wondered. It was one of her biggest hits!!! Now, fast forward 20 years where Celine has even more of those songs that people expect to hear her sing in a concert. The rage would fly fast and furious if she did more than a couple of songs that people don't know. That's why she's always singing covers. People want to hear songs that they know!!!! They don't pay lots of many to hear songs they've never heard of. I get that YOU are interested in that but YOU are in the minority. Maybe not on this message board but this message board is a .00000000000000001 percent of the people alive.

 

I get that many of you are RABID Celine Dion fans and you watch and listen to everything that she does. Most of the people who pay money to see her don't do that. They hear her on the radio. They maybe play a song of hers on a nostalgia night with friends. But they don't eat, breathe, and sleep Celine Dion. So, when they go to a concert, they expect to hear all the songs they know and love. Doing 3 rare songs is a major risk for an artist like Celine. This won't change. I'd say you should find a way to make peace around this or you'll just continue to be upset. If you enjoy living like that though, then keep on keeping' on.

Get rid of the covers and songs that aren’t needed and sing her other songs.

i really don't understand where this come from. she had some difficulties after her surgery , but i think it has improved a lot. She will gain more confidence as the year goes by.

Just think of the live-tv performances of All the way, Hymne a L'Amour, Immortality.. I think it is quite obvious.. Let's not be delusional

A lot of work are you kidding me! Changing set lists like you mentioned takes a lot of time and then Scott would have to make arrangements for every song you guys on the forum suggest! What she’s doing now isn’t as much work as what you guys suggest! She has a stable set list for the most part and on tour all they really rehearse is the new songs! Having to do three shows of new songs would take a lot of work! She’s also 50 years old and is a mom who wants to be with her children at some point she’s not like JLo or Mariah Carey she actually tries to be a normal person too!

those live performance were filled with emotions,

All the way was their couple song, L'hymne à l'amour , she sang it for the people in France,one of best performance where the perfectionnist in Celine didn't care and decided to let go and immortality was perfect.

we need to accept the good and the bad, what we like and don't like. Sometimes i really don't care for the stuff she does, but other times , she is so good , that no one can be her equal. , Si c'était à refaire in show last year was so perfect, i can't find someone else who would be able to do it.
