A little dissapointed to read Some critics here. I agree that the Prince Medley and Funk Medley should not be on this tour, but the rest is really ok. I think Some people wouldn’t be as dissapointed If Céline kept this setlist a secret until Tokyo and did not perform it In Vegas the last to shows.

I can understand people complaining about the setlist, but about her voice? Compare her to last years of Whitney is even offensive... Celine's voice was perfect last year (despite the ear problem), but her ear condition has got worse and it is very difficult to treat. Surgery doesn't guarantee anything just read how many people kept suffering exactly the same symptoms after the surgery. It's clear she was not ready to come back but she couldn't cancel the Asian tour for a second time, her reputation there would have been ruined forever. I can only imagine the pressure. But some people should be more considerate, if Celine has showed us something over the years is that she is a professional, so is she is not delivering vocally I doubt it is lack of training or effort, she probably can't do better now.

We know why she canceled in 2014 but we also know she felt HORRIBLE about it, so there was no way in Hell she was gonna cancel again. I almost know she is giving them everything she has. Yes, the ACDS live CD is amazing. I love the live versions of JCT, Terre, SISDA... . That CD and SISDA introduced me to the " French, artistic" Celine.

 

Yes, and what about the medley of her early songs she offered to the audience? :wub: Where went the days when Céline Dion was truly creative and had enough time to do creative things like this, singing her early songs calmly, not in rushed mode?

I have read these walls of text written earlier, even I was going to answer a few, but...

 

But I just realized that most, if not all, critical comments come from people who were not there...

 

So I'll just say this:

 

- I was there and I really liked this concert

- I was sitting next to about 70 years old woman and a few younger in the 20-35 year range. And from their behavior I conclude that they also liked the concert very much.

- And after the concert, you could not get to the tent with "Official Marchandise" for at least half an hour, so many people wanted to make purchases...

 

Of course, everyone can have their own, other than the other feelings/interpretations. When it comes to me, I can say with full confidence that it was a successful start of the Tour.

Thank you for sharing your experience of it with us. At the end of the day, that the Japanese and other attendees enjoyed it is really all that counts, to me. Yes, we are all allowed and entitled our own opinions, and I am glad to know at least one person who went, and it sounds like those you sat near, enjoyed yourselves. I was not there so all I care about is that those who were had fun!

Exactly. The audience hated the show, left early, was very disappointed with the set list etc - NOT!

I must say that like many here I'm a HUGE Celine fan. After watching many videos I must say that her voice was not at her best last night BUT it was a great show.

Beautiful stage, wardrobe, songs and performances. Her last year was better? Yes, it was. But this show was really good!

In Lisbon we have now the "Rock in Rio - Lisboa" with performances by Demi Lovato or Bruno Mars and they sing way worse than Celine.

She just needs to exercise her voice and don't forget the jet lag.

the colorful dress is quite beautiful, very feminine and sexy, with class. Reminds me of annie horth style a bit...

In the past, I heard Celine saying she was tired of singing some of her songs. If i was in her place i would love to reinvent those songs with different versions....i dont understand why she doesnt do it more often. It would be refreshing and im sure her fans would love it even the ones who never saw her live...When she started working with Scott Price i thought he would bring her more in that direction...but it didnt really happen... looking back at all the Vegas thing, i think it was a brilliant move in her carreer. She proved something with this...but now i really think she should leave that behind and move to something else...

Good for her, but not for the listeners. It's a very dull song that was nice for THAT moment in special. Actually, she has tons of other beautiful songs, with beautiful vocals and lyrics that could replace it.

Don't get me wrong, but you speak for you as I speak for me when I love recovering because it's very special. Personaly, I never reproach to Celine to pay a tribute to René.

In favour of this setlist, I'd say that I totally love the new addition, Falling Into You, and the intro created for it. It's even like a tropical arrangement that suits the song perfectly, even mesmerising Though there's something strange with her voice in it, I don't know why she sings it that way, but other than that I love it! May be boring to you but I bet a lot of fans enjoy it! Personally I love it but that’s my opinion! I feel the same way about songs like love can move mountains!! It’s gotten too plain!

Poor Japaneses, hearing the exactly same recorded note from ABMS, TPOL and IACBTMN for 10 years. At least MHWGO was a new one.

It's interesting that she sings live the covers (and Purple Rain is a very difficult one) but not the big hits.

I just wish she recorded better vocals for to love you more. It sounds too karaoke in certain parts. Her English pronunciation is currently also a little strange sometimes.

Did you know that for example the songs “I love you “and “Dreaming of You” were HUGE in Asia?

 

Did you know what wasn’t huge... “Purple Rain”.

 

I respect your two cents, but this isn’t Vegas, if she performs a song that causal fans don’t know in Vegas she maaaaay have a problem. As far as I’m concerned when on her tou the vast majority of the people would consider themselves fans. They probably bought the FIY album and know how much a gem that “Call The Man” is, or purchased the LTAL album and or bought the ANDHC album and adore “Sorry for Love”,or of course bought her Greatest hits album ATW a decade of song, would burst out of excitement if she sang “I want you to need me”.

 

Let’s call this what it is, LAZINESS. She may be burnt out, or still problems from surgery, but this setlist took two minutes instead of weeks like a planned out show should take.

 

After Prince’s death, Purple rain was in the top 40 in Japan.

Saw her last year in Berlin, and would have loved to hear any of these, instead of black or white, le ballet and refuse to dance... everyone has an opinion these days... lets just be thankful she is still putting out new music, touring, and sounding great along the way...
