Hahahahah we always think we can sing like her.

I love singing her songs in the car. By the time I arrive at my destination I'm hoarse

 

Oh dear, The Reason was baaaaad. The ending was what I sound like thinking I can sing the end of The Reason.

People need to stop defending it because of "she hasn't been there in 10 years, people who attend aren't diehardfans so they only know the hits and want to hear them"

 

 

She has released 3 albums in that time, she can sing her 5 biggest hits (that most times are the only songs some attendees know)

And fill the rest with her own material!!

 

The "regular" fan will also love Misled, Somebody Loves Somebody, Reveal, Stand By Your Side, I Love You Goodbye, When The Wrong One Loves You Right, Declaration Of Love...

Because they own those albums as well of the love TPOL,BYLM etc.

 

When I attend a show of someone who is a favourite of mine, yes I want to hear the songs that made me interested in him/her.

But I LOVE when they make you fall in love with songs you don't know, and you are willing to look them up, and buy the album.

 

If they want to attract a younger crowd, than they need to act on it during her live shows.

And if Celine feels like she has no great songs to sing live and perform them (and love songs from artists more), well than she better needs to make good decisions on WHICH songs she plans to record and put on a album if she tends to never sing them again.

 

I expect to go to a Celine concert and hear the "hits." However, over the years I do expect to begin to hear different arrangements and versions and they have started slowly doing this by introducing the acoustic sets and so on. What continues to frustrate me is the covers. If she's only going to tour once every 10 years to certain parts of the world then really, in my opinion, she should be performing her own songs. Prince again!? Really!?

To the person worried about her voice and saying the ear surgery doesn't affect vocal cords.

It doesn't affect vocal cords but if the surgery wasn't completely sucessful that means that she can't hear herself well and that's enough to affect her singing.

I think that she hasn't fully recovered and I suspect that she probably even considered cancelling this tour.

Not enough time to train her voice/ear with new songs... and also with her band/orchestra. That's probably why she hasn't changed much.

Exactly. I mean, one of the reason behind her amazing voice is the ear.

I still think there is something wrong here, she is still struggling with it, vocal cord can't do anything without perfect ears. She cannot place her voice like she used to. That comes from the ear.

 

Some month ago, we were living one of the most exciting period of her career. At every level, what we were all suggering after René's death, was happening: she was in charge, taking more chances, bringing more care to her image and fashion, interpreting and feeling her songs again, bringing new emotions and liberty, even experimenting away from original melodies, singing live again songs she was miming since more than 10 years, finally bringing new songs from her own repertoire into her shows, as well as new ways of presenting them, new arrangement or choregraphy etc.... and finally develop her own personnality; the woman but also the artist has she took control of her whole business. We were experiencing that, little by little, that has been fascinating for me.

 

Just to say... This is such an artistic awakening for me since 3 years, of course at the speed level of a conservative Celine Dion system , that I still feel that there is something wrong from her surgery. And I'm not a complotist I just don't see why suddenly everything seems f***** up: the communication around all that, the new album, her vegas show, this Tour. And I can hear her ear problem. I think this Tour has been impacted, she shouldn't be there. Like everyone was saying, she couldn't cancell for the second time that would ruin her after Vegas cancellation. Haha so the girl is here.

 

Otherwise, I'm still happy with the acoustic segment, how she decided those special songs, in this order, with this particular way, with this quintet. Love it ! I like the fact she is still anjoying a little dance also.

I'm as annoyed about the same old songs and Tour end as I am since 10 years. And finally, she needs to hire a new team for the stage settings, visual effects......It becomes just laughable and painful to watch, this is not acceptable as for Vegas as the tours. I will never understand why she stopped her collaboration with Moment Factory, and then removed all of their visuals. Aucoin is in charge of all that ? He needs to get some help from other specialised companies / artists...

Really I need to ask this but not sure where so I’ll leave it here. With the news of today’s show being recorded for tv someone suggested a DVD release. My question is now that we know she’s split with Productions J who will produce the DVDs. I believe it was originally noted in the 2017 tour thread. Would Sony be able to release it even without Productions J. Sorry if it is a dumb question not sure how this all works.

The solution to the problem..

 

Celine needs to finish her Vegas contract and take a sabbatical for awhile, until she feels the urge to be a creator of a one of a kind show..Shes capable, it's clear she's burnt out. No other artist of her caliber pays tribute to Prince for near 5 years straight. She's now sang Purple Rain more than a Prince tribute artist.

I think that a better solution for her is to get a very good manager with solid knowledge about the industry and the current trends. Furthermore she should surround herself with more professional people when it comes to creativity, releases, show design, social media etc. we saw a massive positive change when Aldo was in charge. She was on the perfect path in every way. She way everywhere, people were talking about her. She received her icon/legend status under Aldo. Before Aldo she was hidden and remained unnoticed, and now the situation becomes the same. She becomes more and more unnoticed again.

I'm starting to watch the videos now.

I first look at the pictures and I must say I ADORE her new outfits.

I saw her London show last year and she was on fire. I think her voice is not the same but I think it's only a matter of time for Celine to be in top shape again.

I honestly think that if she had not been sick for so long, we would have seen a different show. But I am thankful to see her on stage again. Sure we can criticize a lot, we can always criticize a lot, no matter what she would do. But I'm thankful to see her on stage.

 

The only thing I'm criticizing for now is that freaking Prince tribute! ugh can't stand him actually. So happy she didn't do that in the summer of 2017 tour.

I was told that René and Céline were more friend of Julie Snyders husband than Julie herself. So when she got divorced, they kinda stopped working with Julie. But this could all be incorrect.

I think the lack of originality in the setlist is mainly due to her vocal/ear condition not allowing her to fully rehearse. It also didn't help our expectations that we saw an exact version (minus IDAN) of this show during the end of last Vegas run. Honestly, she really needs to take a break once she's done with this Vegas residency to really rest and recharge. Just in this last year, she's had that back problem, the throat condition in January, and the ear surgery and her vocals haven't been stellar since the last tour. And I still believe that her strongest vocals in the recent years were the 2015 comeback and the 2016 tour. The break would probably also help her have a fresher outlook on what songs she would like to perform (please please please drop the Prince medley, it's embarrassing that it's part of this setlist).

Moreover, I think Prince is not famous here, even a MJ or Queen tribute is better.

As much as I love Celine the problem here is she singing the same songs all over again.

 

If you have a SHOW IN VEGAS for people and fans to come to see you from all over the world... WHY... you have to bring the SHOW IN VEGAS over on a tour when you have TONS of different songs that you can sing?!

 

Good lord! It’s just common sense!!

Not a fan of covers in General, but I'll never understand how they cut TSMGO and kept Purple Rain.

 

At least TSMGO was personal to Celine, rather they both be retired, but TSMGO was a was away better song suited for Céline. Also while Queen had success wasn't nearly as known as PR.

Sounds about right to me. But yes you are also right we don't know for sure that all this is info is 100% correct but just from what we've seen and heard seems to be the case.But if it is true and she no longer works with Productions J then can she still release and produce dvds without them or would she need to get a new company?

You also realize that if they really polled fans in Asia for their favourite songs, the result would probably be what we just got, right? (MHWGO, TPOL, ,IACBTMN, BYLM, ABM, IA, TTWII, TT, TLYM)

 

And if you've ever attended a Céline show, you must have also (albeit begrudgingly) noticed that LCMM/RDMH is what really got the crowd going...right?

Just been reading through all the comments on here from the last day or so. I can't believe how negative and frankly over the top a lot of them are. I really think that people expect too much.

 

This is a veteran singer who has had a lot of issues and health problems in the last few years, going out and performing a tried and tested set list to an audience who haven't seen much of her for a long time. The difference between this year of course is her operation not that long ago and this is not in Europe or Canada and there are no French shows. She has also been to Europe three times since 2013 and so would have to mix it up more for that audience.

 

Maybe she could get someone in to direct the show better (I still have no idea what Pepe is contributing, he basically just seems to swish about the stage a bit and stroke Celine's arm a lot, either let him dance properly or ditch him), that might freshen things up a bit. But that said whilst the tickets for this sort of show are still selling they may well take that as a sign that they are doing something right.

 

Watching every show streamed really doesn't help either. Or course something is boring if you watch it over and over again. I would also argue that it is hard to judge quality based on fan recorded videos. I imagine that everyone actually there live would have really enjoyed the show.

Honestly, it doesnt affect anyone unlesd they are going to this show and dont like.

 

 

We as standbyers dont get to pass judegment on something we arent involved in, doesnt effect us and is out of our control.

 

Its been proven time and time again, outside of Europe shes never anywhere nsar2as adventurous because in Europe she can be risky and do less known songs, she doesnt really see that in other countries
