Celine has proven in 2016, that if she just sing the songs she wants she can create the most amazing emotional show ever.

 

And really, you can't tell me that after the last tours, THIS setlist is satisfying for her.

 

Correct me if I am wrong, but is was her telling that they would look for the songs that we're big in the country.

And in the end they come up with the Vegas setlist + a rare song?

 

Anyway being this critic has nothing to do with being a fake fan who spents all the time focusing on Celine and not looking around then, or a fan who loves every fart she does and doesn't care a bit on what she will sing.

 

We still love and admire the same person, and some of you are happy with whatever she does.

And I think and I know she can do way way better than what she is showing us right now.

 

And if you really need to blame (find an excuse) her "schedule, vegas, being a mom, surgery" for this LAZY tour appearance. (Also blaming the team)

Then you/they/she really need to think twice about "the schedule"

 

I really can't believe there is a single person in that team who said, yeah Celine squeeze your own hits into a medley, and yeah why not great idea to sing the Prince Medley again.

 

And if it's all her idea, well way to go, I still love you, I will still go to see the show, but really girl, you can do way way better! You are talented enough!

As you can see. I have decided to remove Think Twice, BATB, The Reason, boring Prince Medley from the setlist. Just 4-5 songs. Unison and A new day has come which are part of the medley has its own place in setlist. I expected at least new song from her upcoming album, but nothing happened. Only A world to believe in, Tell Him and 2nd encore are new songs in my setlist. I guess it is real for them to do it, I don't uderstand why we couldn't get at least this.

My thoughts..

 

First of all, yes I’m disappointed and yes I expected a bit more. The show seemed rushes and there were no surprises. Even her speeches were short. And it’s a shame.

 

BUT....

 

Everyone should be realistic: Céline has NEVER been an artist that reinvents herself (all the time) or is very creative. From the beginning of her career it was clear she loves comfort and stability, not only in her private life, but also on stage and in her career. It.has.always.been.this.way. Yes there were a few exceptions (like the 2016 tour), but we all tend to think of those exceptions as the standard, HER standard, which is not fair and not the case. If you want a singer that has a different setlist every night or releases albums every year, I really suggest to be a fan of a different artist.

 

Céline’s main power/strength is the ability to stay the same and that applies to a lot, including yes, singing the same songs over again. But perhaps this is why she’s such an icon and role model? Perhaps this is why she still sells out in Vegas after so many years? Yes it’s a shame that us fans won’t be hearing rare stuff during the 2018 tour, but ask any audience member and I’ll bet 95% loved the show coz they heard their fav songs.

 

We’re also SO spoiled with all the shows Céline has been doing AND all the live streams and reports we’re getting in and I think there lies another problem. Céline’s a singer from a very different generation and she’s not one of the youngest singers. She and her team handle things very “old skool” and yes things have changed a bit, but Céline just prefers it this way. 2016 was different coz she felt very different at the time and she always experiments more when singing for a French audience. Céline apparently just loves to do the same things over and over again and also doesn’t like to be on social media. And frankly, if you really think about it, she doesn’t need it. So if you want to be a fan of an artist that posts a tweet everyday, again, find another artist.

 

Céline will not change, because times have changed, she changes coz she wants to change and apparently she’s fine with everything as it is. And that’s not to say we have to accept or like everything she does, but we all need to learn to not have these high expectations.

 

When I’m “sick” of her doing certain stuff, I just don’t listen to her or don’t watch her videos, it’s as simple as that. And there always comes a point where I’ll miss her and watch or listen to the same thing all over again, coz...she’s just one of a kind.

I have to agree that this Medley / prince is boring and she should take it from her shows.

Is it so hard to put your songs on your shows, and take that boring medley.

2016 and 2016 were epic and exciting moments in their shows, this show from Asia, although I already know it's the same show, it's not exciting me.

How do you know she is fine? Her condition might not present physical pain but it is much more serious for a singer than a bad knee or a back problem. She had surgery and she is probably fine, or it might be that the surgery didn't work 100% and she is still having problems listening to herself or to the instruments. The fact that she is back singing doesn't mean she is well, and even if she is now I think this whole situation affected the tour rehearsals and the album recording.

 

About the setlist, this is not a new tour, this is just an extension of the last one so apart from one or two songs I wasn't expecting any changes. Just think of Celine's mini tours as big tours split in several years. Some artists go on tours for one or two years doing the same show, Celine do the same but in parts so I don't see the problem. Next year if she is back to Europe and with a new album we will see...

 

Manu, I'll answer you with a post that Robin has posted, because it's the same I would say to you (and anyone). Maybe it's more useful if you read my opinion in the words of other fans, because as you see it's not only me who complains or is disappointed, it's MANY of us here

 

And no I don't expected a new tour, nor a new show (we don't get a new show since 2011), but I do expect some changes in the songs, new additions, improvements and new visuals here and there, different touches in the stage etc. But anything changes barely, year after year, show after show, no matter if she's in Vegas or if she is on the road. That has no excuse for an artist of her level sorry (and the ticket prices she's asking).

Remove love can move those freaking mountains, river deep - which is a cover and has been done way too long , dare to stop singing recovering . Once it was special and it had a meaning, but now I am done with it. Never really liked the song anyway. Lipping a whole track? gone with it. And there is no excuse to lip a part of your greatest songs - mhwgo. If there is one song that needs to be sung 100% live, it is mhwgo. Yes for removing the prince medley. Even the Michael Jackson did not stay that long, so gone with it. For Asia she could have done call the man or I believe in you with added prerecorded singing of the Il Divo guys. And I am pretty sure ain't gonna look the other way would have been a very good addition to the show. And a new day has come should have been in the radio remix live on stage! And she could finally do - Then you look at me. And I am sure people would have loved to hear Let;s talk about love again and Right in front of you.. I dont know. Actually Purple Rain was introduced (if I’m right) in August 2015 when she came back. So it’s a few months short of 3 years, not 5. And as she doesn’t actually do that many shows per each run, it’s not actually as long as you may think 😂

Yes there are changes we’d all love for her to make. I’m not criticising that! I just hate it when people get their tits in a tangle saying she should retire! Over something like not enough changes etc, I find absolutely ridiculous. Perhaps those fans should stop following Celine’s every move you you’re obviously not enjoying any of it! Well she rehearsed FIY. If she did that + some dance moves she can recover one or two old songs like she did last year with Think Twice and Refuse To Dance. It's not that hard. We're not asking her to learn a script to play her part in a movie or the next full season of American Horror Story as a guest star. We're talking about songs of 3 minutes, most of which she knows by heart. And where she doesn't even move in most of them by the way

 

Yes she had an ear surgery. She's fine. Others have worst injuries and have to be operated and be back on their seats 8 hours 5 days a week, and only have 15 days to recover and are still in pain with a bunch of pills and medicines on them. And they keep on.

 

Seriously, some of you need to reconsider how much work involves singing/rehearsing a song, because sometimes you're making it look as if it was the most daunting, exhausting, tedious, difficult job in the world. That's ridiculous

We don't create high expectations. She creates them when she says these things and "the best is yet to come". What "best"? Doing the same for a decade? When? Must be in the personal territory, because what her career is concerned... phewww

And again, please don't ask for a DVD anymore. If this is going to be the setlist for all this tour, there's more than clear now why Sony Music WON'T bother to release a Celine Dion DVD. Get any of the DVDs/home videos that are already out and you'll get what she sings in this tour, but 10/20 years ago and with even rare songs on the setlist.

I am working with the current setlist. What they could change right now. Of course, we all want to remove LCMM/RDMH. I find Recovering boring as well, but it is unreal to think Celine will remove it during this tour.. As I mentioned I love Think Twice, but she seems to be tired (her voice) and Think Twice and The Reason are very hard songs which weren't such a big hits in Japan (maybe I am wrong). It is just my feeling. I think she should try to sing TO LOVE YOU MORE live and include TT later in Australia instead of TLYM. Playback during MY HEART WILL GO ON is such a shame and I think she should sing it live , BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME should be live too.

I had my dreams as well with Somebody Loves Somebody, Fade Away. Or with some new oldies medley: Did YOU GIVE ENOUGHT LOVE/REAL EMOTION/MISLED/TREAT HER LIKE A LADY or JUST A LITTLE BIT OF LOVE, but it won't happen. :wacko:

Unison was performed already in Vegas during A New Day (but in a better version than the horrible solo violin arrangement of this tour)

 

At Seventeen comes from Vegas. Well, to be more precise, the song dates as back as from a performance she did for Grammy nominations in 2008 (since then, to me, the song lost its magic, but that's a personal opinion)

 

To Love You More has been performed to death in Vegas during A New Day and then during the TCWT.

 

The Reason was performed in Vegas during the first version of the Celine show in 2011.

 

The only song that doesn't come from Vegas shows is Think Twice

Best post of the day. I love Celine but I'm not gonna worship her every move even when it doesn't make sense.

 

I'll double down my other post; I'd rather see Celine retire than continue down a uncreative path which we all know she has to be bored with, nobody human likes to sing the same song for years on end. I love Celine and would love to see her perform forever, but if she doesn't have the passion for creating anymore than she should retire for awhile until the idea of putting a new show for fans seems fun to her. She's got enough money, retire Celine if you feel like your just doing the show for sake of doing the show.

her concerts are very expensive and to be honest, if this show came back this year in Holland. I don't know if I would go again. Even though I liked last year a lot, I think it is too much and less than last year to justify paying that much for her concert.

I will wait until 2021 if she decides to fresh up the setlist and comes up with a completely intesting setlist - with of course 3 fan favorites, but the rest should be interesting.

Look at Beyonce. She comes up with a tour, sings a few of her old songs but also a lot new material. Celine can do that as well. Money is not an issue anyway.

 

Btw look at Anastacia. She is touring again, now with her latest album, Evolution.

I have been to her ultimate collection tour, which was a greatest hits show , and now to this new show.

The new show had just a few old songs, but for the rest of the show a lot new songs, to promote the new album,

and a new setdesign. Even though hers is more cheap than Celine's. She does innovate and I hope to see Celine going that route also.

Try not to do certain songs everytime again when there is a tour. Look at Madonna, she has so many fanfavorites, but she only does a few of them in her shows and surprises with either reinvented versions of her songs and a lot of her new albums. So Celine will sell as well if she does not do because you loved me or river deep or even all by myself. Because she can sing everything and will have sold out tickets with or without those songs
