About Celine at Tokio Dome...

 

Celine is also an artist who has visited the dome many times. Her first Appearance on January 31st 1999 was a show stopping appearance with fans queuing outside for up to 2 days before hand to gain early access. Both shows on January 31st and February 1st (As part of her Let´s Talk About Love World Tour) were an instant sell out and both concerts reached a maximum capacity (under stage configuration conditions) of 48,000 and selling out in under 2 hours. Then again in 2008 on March 8 and 9 during her Taking Chances World Tour, she performed a further set of sell-out shows both reaching the maxium capacity of 55,000 and again selling out in under an hour, these hallmarked Celine as the highest grossing female act in the Dome in the 1998-2008 gross income period. In 2014 Dion cancelled two shows in the dome after the worsening of her husband's cancer and general vocal exhaustion from her Las Vegas shows. However both shows sold out in an hour and both garners ticket sales of over 50,000. Dion will return to the dome on June 26 and 27, 2018 as part of her Celine Dion Live 2018 Tour.-

Wow I’m surprised at the reactions on here.

Honestly I think if the set list wasn’t revealed in Vegas those last two nights people wouldn’t be as disappointed. I think it’s just the element of surprise was lost, in saying that those who were there seemed quite happy with the show and set list.

I think to seasoned fans it’s playing it safe but to casual fans and the general public it’s exactly what they want! If I had never seen her before or in a long time I would be more than happy with that show!

I think Céline had a bad start to the year health wise and for the second half of the year she has many obligations to fill , this tour , possible album and promo before the end of the year and Vegas!

For people saying she needs a break ...I don’t disagree..the woman has worked non stop for the past few years BUT she signed up for these things and to cancel them considering the cancellations at the start of the year and the fact the Asia tour was cancelled before would look so bad for her!!

I think at times there’s too much going on in her schedule like this year it’s Vegas while trying to finish recording the album and prepare a tour in between all that , on top of being a Mom!

It’s a lot considering her health wasn’t 100 per cent at the start of the year!

Hopefully next year she will take on less and take a little break for herself and I mean a real break , not one where she prepares a new show or set lists, one where she does nothing and enjoys some free time!

Sometimes people forget she’s only human like the rest of us and yes I know she has a team and help etc but at the end of it all most of the responsibilities lie on her shoulders!

Just my thoughts on it all.

I think this was the best thing she could do on this moment!!

She started to sing a couple of days before Vegas started before that she could only do things for the tour on paper

 

There was not much time so i think they wanted to keep it simple with a Some changes

Also her voice was not in a good condition to work on so many songs like last Year when she really got the time to work on the show

 

It was this or canceling the tour i guess

 

But i saw a lot of happy people on twitter they loved it and cried from Happiness and on the end of the day that’s all that matters right ?

As much as I love Céline, I can understand some other fans (all kind of ) may be disappointed by the tracklist, by the songs, by the arrangements, by the level of energy on stage, by the level of creativity...by anything else... I must confess I was expecting a bit more too!

 

Though I feel happy for the thousands of people who attended yesterday. I'm sure most of them had a positive feeling on their way back home and were thrilled to have seen Céline on stage. This is what matters the most to me.

 

Anyway, please be kind to each other. Don't be too hard (nor rude) towards anyone whose impressions are not exactly the same as yours...good or bad. We're all here on a fans forum talking about Céline's performances together...not against each other We have the right to complain, to feel frustrated or disappointed as much as we can enjoy, cheer and feel excited about what Céline and her team do.

Just because she sings one line live in BYLM and the last verse of IACBTMN doesn’t mean you should discount them from the total. Maybe look at the running length of all songs put together and calculate the amount that is lipped. You’re talking a good 40%. Considering the price of tickets it’s pretty disgusting.

 

Oh and the reason she does songs like PR and Ashes live which are quite difficult songs to sing is because nobody has anything to compare it to, whereas TPOL vocals will always be compared to her 90s stuff and she clearly isn’t content that her voice has changed so lips all the old stuff. Quite sad really.

 

TPOL was lipped right from 1994. And we don't even know for TCOML tour.

So beside us , I wonder who will see the difference. there are about about 10 live of it on youtube, that's it.

They also would be happy if she sang "somebody loves somebody, reveal, the greatest reward, next plane out, be the man, or whatever song she feels like singing"

 

Of course the audience is happy, they haven't seen her in 10 years, and they love her voice and songs.

 

That doesn't mean she should copypaste setlists.

I truely must say that in the beginng I really liked joining this Forum very much and contributing too. There had been mostly informative, positive exchanges of news, pictures, clips and thoughts. But I truely ask myself what happened the past time that the negative and partly harsh criticism gained the upper hand. I can't understand. For some of you nothing seems to be enough, what Céline does. Folks, she's a human being like us all. And all the money n the world can't prevent you from good and not so good days. She flew 12 hours to Tokyo, shortly after closing the Las Vegas run, persumably first long trip after her ear surgery. She's "allowed" to be in "not top shape". I was so happy seeing/hearing her again. She can perform 1.000.000 times her major setlist, and I will be happy to see the IG- and YT-clips. This woman gave me SO MUCH since I became her fan in 1988. Her music is the soundtrack to my life, the good and the bad. OK, I too made her get to the success, by spending a lot of money buying her CDs, DVDs, books etc. But that doesn't make me to a possessor who owns the right to critize and claim. Surely we all have thankfully the freedom of speech. But some of you should ask themselves why they mainly see the negative first instead of seeking the positive?

TPOL was lipped right from 1994. And we don't even know for TCOML tour.

So beside us , I wonder who will see the difference. there are about about 10 live of it on youtube, that's it.

 

The playback was created after November 1993 but before early 1994 (guessing due to tcoml concert only featuring playbacks prior to tcoml). There is tv footage of tpol in two instances one full one partial, as well as the olympia cd - all three the playback.

 

I would say roughly there are about 16 known live performances. For sure at least 2 more hidden we may never see..(hit man japan was i think 3 or 4 shows, not just one).
