Xpresso Posted June 27, 2018 at 02:58 AM Posted June 27, 2018 at 02:58 AM (edited) We don't need to worship her every move.Just realize that's she had health issues (and still does in my opinion) and be happy that she's touring right now.And yes she needs a break, and I'm sure she knows it. But she decided to keep going - and that's why she deserves some respect. At least the concert goers are happy and that probably helps her to keep going! maki_Dion-er Posted June 27, 2018 at 03:11 AM Posted June 27, 2018 at 03:11 AM (edited) If Celine is doing a show for sake doing a show, or out of obligation, and she’s burnt out then yeah she needs a break. You have your opinion and I have mine. It’s clear Celine is exhausted and not in a creative state of mind, to retire for a bit would be good for her head, her voice and her art. She needs to want to be there and be creative again. So YES if she’s not capable of bringing the artistry and creativity then maybe she needs to miss us, miss singing, miss being onstage, this isn’t selfish of me, it’s true. I would never want Celine to stop but it’s clear as day she needs a MAJOR break, her passion and creativity is slacking and just because I’m a big fan doesn’t mean I won’t state that, it’s clear and I think many people here also see it, they just want to be greedy and are okay with any type of performance and will take the pony show Of PR, LCMM RDMH, ETC.... This woman needs a break. It shows more than ever. Saying she needs a break and saying she should retire are different things in my book. I agree, a break would be good for her, especially if she is still struggling with her ear (be it because it still hasn't gotten better or because she hasn't had the time to retrain her hearing or do whatever she needs to do) or if she's feeling overwhelmed with other things that we might not know about, or if she's bored with Vegas. The way and you some others were expressing your opinions have come across apprehensive and almost like you are angry with Celine imo. I'm guessing it might have come from the disappointment of the show because it seems many were expecting something much more different than the June 8th/9th shows but I think it's necessary to come at things from different angles. I've been a part of different celebrity forums and I have never seen fans that attack each other or express themselves so negatively about their fave singer/actor. I'm not trying to single you out, I just happen to be responding to your comment, but a lot of what I read here borders more on the line of hate than of criticism. I give her credit when it’s due, I also give her criticism when I think it warrants it. This is a forum, a place to express my opinions, nobody has to agree or they can, the point is everyone sees things differently. Have you ever for one minute thought that the criticism that you are labeling on the line of “hate” is coming from people who adore Celine but just think she’s capable of more because we’ve seen it? I’m sorry but there is always two sides to a coin. I have seen some tough comments, even some of mine, but I have not seen hate. So people need to stop being so sensitive when a fan speaks on their opinion. I totally understand some people for example like the setlist of this tour and some don’t, just because we love Celine doesn’t mean we all have to agree with everything. 4 Quote
Popular Post smw Posted June 27, 2018 at 03:55 AM Popular Post Posted June 27, 2018 at 03:55 AM (edited) We have to remember that doing what Celine does is not easy even though she is remarkable at making it look as though it is easy. We've set the bar so high for her (because for so long she's been consistently spectacular / not even Human) that we should all try our best to be thankful for the DECADES of consistently epic vocals and entertainment and amazing personality she's given us despite so many struggles in her life recently. She's also now 50 and she is still showing us that she ain't gonna slow down. Personally, I am so proud of her. I think she genuinely WANTS to keep performing at the pace she always has -- because this who she is. And the stage ultimately heals her from anything she might be going through. She is aware (far more than any of us could EVER be) when she isn't necessarily at 100%. But Celine at 80 or 90% is far better than any other living performing today. Celine is her own biggest critic but she chooses to embrace the JOY and necessity of performing over constantly worrying about being perfect / out of this world not-even-human all the damn time! That would be exhausting and not necessary. Whitney Houston and Celine Dion have always been the great Olympic-sized vocalists for me. Whitney's road was a rocky one. Celine is still shining so brightly. I am thankful. Edited June 27, 2018 at 04:02 AM by smw 11 Quote
maki_Dion-er Posted June 27, 2018 at 04:12 AM Posted June 27, 2018 at 04:12 AM (edited) they have new clips from the movie, I don't think the scenes of Deadpool wearing the X-Men trainee shirt was in the music video. They also have a clip of him hugging the kid and an extended clip of when they are all sky-diving. Someone yelled out "Spider-Man", I love when they quote the music video at her. I remember in one Vegas performance someone yelled out "keep it at eleven". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mE6Dh962tIw Edited June 27, 2018 at 04:16 AM by maki_Dion-er 3 Quote

I totally understand some people for example like the setlist of this tour and some don’t, just because we love Celine doesn’t mean we all have to agree with everything. I'm not saying you have to agree with everything she does, it's the way I've seen people express themselves that I'm talking about. I know it's not hate and that everyone here loves her, but it comes off almost like hate because of the way these comments are made, it doesn't always come across as constructive criticism but more complaining because she's not fulfilling your expectations. We all want and wish for the best from her, for us and for her sake, but if it doesn't happen it doesn't, and since I've been a part of this forum 85% of what I read is complaints and dislike for what she does, what she doesn't do, or how she acts (or how she shouldn't), or how she dresses. I know as fans we want Celine to be on top of the game, to put out amazing shows, to be at the center of conversations BUT maybe that's just not her intention at the moment? Or something happened that made her decide to keep this tour simple, we don't know everything that goes on behind the stage. Doesn't mean she doesn't enjoy what she's doing or just going through the motions. So perhaps this tour won't be as amazing as some hoped it would be, but it's by no means horrible. dlh1 Posted June 27, 2018 at 05:49 AM Posted June 27, 2018 at 05:49 AM No its not that high... counting prince medley and acoustic medley as just 2 songs (instead of 5 songs, though all are live) that is 19 songs. 7 songs feature some playback. Tlym, bylm, tpol, abm, mhwgo, fiy, iacbtmn have some playback. Even amongst these songs abm is mostly live. Mhwgo has 2/3 live, disappointed she isn't singing the ending this tour. Tpol features some live singing now. Fiy was always lipped in the past so even a solo performance there is no guarantee it would have been live. Same with tlym. 12/19 is already more than half...the 7 lipped have been standard forever...im glad she didn't dig out the reason playback tape or add in idan as one...or create one for the high parts in think twice...hell at least she is singing ashes live at all instead of ignoring it or lipping it!! Purple rain while dreadful because of how long its been drug around is full of high notes. Yes that is not as much live singing as 2016 or 2017 tour, but it is certainly on par or better than any 90s tour after unison. Just because she sings one line live in BYLM and the last verse of IACBTMN doesn’t mean you should discount them from the total. Maybe look at the running length of all songs put together and calculate the amount that is lipped. You’re talking a good 40%. Considering the price of tickets it’s pretty disgusting. Oh and the reason she does songs like PR and Ashes live which are quite difficult songs to sing is because nobody has anything to compare it to, whereas TPOL vocals will always be compared to her 90s stuff and she clearly isn’t content that her voice has changed so lips all the old stuff. Quite sad really. Quote

The information is a bit dated since some of the arenas have probably been renovated over the years... But looking at arenas that she's performed in on the most recent tours and a list of current largest arenas, some of them include United Center, Sportpaleis, Bell Centre, Scottrade Center, American Airlines Center, Manchester Arena, and Madison Square Garden. Also worth noting is the largest audience she's performed for which was the "Sur les Plaines" concert where she performed in front of 250,000 people. TBH though.... she has had no new music (other than Ashes) im so long and that’s what’s missing. Of course it’s going to feel like the same over and over. That said, she didn’t really perform anything from LMBTL which was a shame. I don’t dislike the set list btw, I think it works for the countries she is going to. Kev x 3 Quote
