this summerdress is beautiful, best outfit yet.

And her singing is still 8/10. We know she can be even better but you cannot be a 10 every time imo.

I am just curious what is gonna change and i hope the black dress in Ashes goes to the Trash(es) Anyway i agree we might be harsh sometimes but if you get excited for a new tour and nothing changed..yes then we can be frustrated and give our opinions. That is where a forum is for. As for the respect thing - there is nothing wrong when we say enough is enough when certain songs always seem to come back. For a new tour fresh ideas and setlistchanges are not that much to ask for i think.

That being said - let’s wait if the setlist stays the same. It is only concert no. 1, anything is possible.

Just because she sings one line live in BYLM and the last verse of IACBTMN doesn’t mean you should discount them from the total. Maybe look at the running length of all songs put together and calculate the amount that is lipped. You’re talking a good 40%. Considering the price of tickets it’s pretty disgusting.

 

Oh and the reason she does songs like PR and Ashes live which are quite difficult songs to sing is because nobody has anything to compare it to, whereas TPOL vocals will always be compared to her 90s stuff and she clearly isn’t content that her voice has changed so lips all the old stuff. Quite sad really.

 

Where did i discount them from total? I included both as part of the 7 lipped. I think 40% is still higher than reality, 30% sounds more consistent and realistic. None of the lipped songs besides bylm were ever live in concert in this millennium anyway.

 

I'm not going to disagree that it is absurd for the prices... I'm not going to disagree that i wouldnt love to hear those songs live. Those lipped songs are what people want to hear most. I would not say it is so much that they compare it to her 90s stuff as it is the people have in their minds how they expect it to sound. (More so with iacbtmn,bylm,mhwgo than say refuse to dance, rdmh, lcmm...)

now well well I have to say i was a bit disappointed, mainly was kinda expect 1 or 2 surprises / changes......

I think this was mainly due to that we got spoiled last year and also we got a peak to the tour set list from last 2 vegas shows ......

but when i rethink and re-look at the concert it's actually not bad at all! most fans got the songs they wanna hear

on saying this of course it can be better, maybe replace 1 or 2 songs should be fine haha

prince medley i would say maybe change Kiss to her own song but keep purple rain, maybe change at 17 to If you asked me to

for the dress i'm happy that she changed the 2nd dress, at first from far i though it's like the one from last year rubbish bag 2.0.. lol but no no it's alot better and i love it

 

also i'm thinking cause this is gonna be recorded and air in august so they probably wanna keep it kinda tight and not overtime and stuff!

would be interesting to see how the next concert will be like! hopefully some small change

I'd say the audience would be rather ecstatic in their seats and saying "wow, I don't know this song but it was amazing", or "wow, I'm not familiar with this song, I wish she sang more of these!", don't you think? The chances Céline is missing for keeping so many of these songs hidden to the general public... :pinch:

This is spoken from someone who has clearly never worked in the entertainment industry. As someone who has done so for the past 30 years now, let me say that what you believe is false. What happens when an artist doesn't sing their hits is that the audience stops coming back and spending their money.

 

I'll never forget when the LTAL tour started - I saw it in Chicago early on in the tour. Celine didn't sing TPOL. (It later went into the show.) My friend was livid. LIVID!!! That was her favorite Celine song. How could Celine NOT sing that song, my friend wondered. It was one of her biggest hits!!! Now, fast forward 20 years where Celine has even more of those songs that people expect to hear her sing in a concert. The rage would fly fast and furious if she did more than a couple of songs that people don't know. That's why she's always singing covers. People want to hear songs that they know!!!! They don't pay lots of many to hear songs they've never heard of. I get that YOU are interested in that but YOU are in the minority. Maybe not on this message board but this message board is a .00000000000000001 percent of the people alive.

 

I get that many of you are RABID Celine Dion fans and you watch and listen to everything that she does. Most of the people who pay money to see her don't do that. They hear her on the radio. They maybe play a song of hers on a nostalgia night with friends. But they don't eat, breathe, and sleep Celine Dion. So, when they go to a concert, they expect to hear all the songs they know and love. Doing 3 rare songs is a major risk for an artist like Celine. This won't change. I'd say you should find a way to make peace around this or you'll just continue to be upset. If you enjoy living like that though, then keep on keeping' on.

I didn't say she should remove TPOL and all her hits, nor MHWGO or BYLM or TLYM and such. I never did. Nor did I say to remodel the full show from head to toes for this tour. But from that to bring Vegas on wheels there's a long way of possibilities other than repeating the same setlist she's been doing 5, 10 or 20 years ago.

 

The Prince songs are totally out of place: that time could have been easily spent singing Céline songs, and the audience would have enjoyed them probably much more than a random medley of covers with Barnev and non-Celine songs.

 

The closing isn't changed a comma since 1997. I don't believe for a second the Asian audience is going to miss LCMM or RDMH if she had performed other songs of her catalogue instead.

 

No one here is questioning the need of Céline's hits and classics on the setlist -that's unnegotiable, we get that. But those are 6-8 songs at most. The rest of the show can be updated, and I don't believe the audience is going to be unhappy for that.

 

Suffice to say that from 2003 to 2013, she hasn't sung a single song from that period of her career, ignoring 3 English albums. That's a 10 year span that she has deleted at the stroke of a pen. As if her activity had been nonexistent in the market during those years.

 

That speaks for itself when we say that things can be done better, much better

The playback was created after November 1993 but before early 1994 (guessing due to tcoml concert only featuring playbacks prior to tcoml). There is tv footage of tpol in two instances one full one partial, as well as the olympia cd - all three the playback.

 

I would say roughly there are about 16 known live performances. For sure at least 2 more hidden we may never see..(hit man japan was i think 3 or 4 shows, not just one).

 

Do you think it was live for TCOML tour? I don't think it was. It was probably the "A l'Olympia" version.

If Celine is doing a show for sake doing a show, or out of obligation, and she’s burnt out then yeah she needs a break.

You have your opinion and I have mine.

 

It’s clear Celine is exhausted and not in a creative state of mind, to retire for a bit would be good for her head, her voice and her art. She needs to want to be there and be creative again. So YES if she’s not capable of bringing the artistry and creativity then maybe she needs to miss us, miss singing, miss being onstage, this isn’t selfish of me, it’s true. I would never want Celine to stop but it’s clear as day she needs a MAJOR break, her passion and creativity is slacking and just because I’m a big fan doesn’t mean I won’t state that, it’s clear and I think many people here also see it, they just want to be greedy and are okay with any type of performance and will take the pony show Of PR, LCMM RDMH, ETC....

 

This woman needs a break. It shows more than ever.

 

How can you say she’s not creative?? That’s so far from the truth! I saw this tour in Vegas and yeah it’s very simple but she makes it work! Trust me Céline’s a professional and she is doing the best she can! And also you have to remember she’s 50 years old! Of course she’s not gonna be like she was during A New Day. People age and change and she’s changing and maturing as an artist :-) I understand your side of things but I don’t like hearing people say she needs to retire because if she does y’all will be complaining that she needs to do a show. She can’t please everyone but let’s try and be a little kinder towards her! Yes we all have a right to our opinion and I won’t put yours down but I don’t like reading these!

I wonder if it's Céline who should take a sabbatical and miss us or the other way around!! Some fans here need to take a long break from Céline to stop criticizing every ittle thing she is not doing. Be happy for what she IS doing in her current condition and show some empathy even if you are not happy with the setlist.
