First, surprising that she release an english song, few weeks after the release of Encore Un Soir, and the album was scheduled to 2017!

 

For the extract of Recovering, I can feel all the emotion that the song made on Celine, it's so emotive! I think the writter(s) had the perfect word due to the tragic event in beginning of 2016..

 

It's my opinion!

I think Aldo and her new team are learning that it's year 2016.. Before in the past it was ideal to record songs and hold them all to the new album releases but these days it's very popular to release singles to keep the fans statisified and give the artist new material to perform.

 

Welcome to 2016 TeamCeline and I would be happy if Celine's team made this a new thing like they did for TSMGO and now for "Recovering" by releasing new singles every few months there is no need to wait for new songs just for album anymore, I myself love having physical albums in my hands but we are in the digital age and it's time Celine's team gets onboard.

This is not a typical Celine song imo. I just keep playing it over and over.

But dear, that's what we've been getting since LMBTL in 2013 . A collection of highly ellaborated and with in-depth detail covers for all her singles (and albums). Remeber the cover of LMBTL single (same as the album), Incredible, then this year The Show Must Go On using the same font as in LMBTL album... How are you surprised?

 

People didn't complain about the Celine logo on every cover (minus D'eux) from 1993-2000 (2002 if you count that little stamp on ANDHC). Why are we complaining about font now? The font they've been using is modern and current. Was the recycling of the Celine logo unimaginative? According to most on here, it wasn't. In fact some wish it would be brought back. Would it be nice for nostalgic purposes? Maybe on a collection. The music is the most important part, and we have you guys sitting here nit picking every minor detail. Focus on the song. It's delivery and it's meaning. These things are what is most important right now.

The more I think about this, the more I am baffled. The song itself is wonderful don't get me wrong.

 

It's just that we went from "P!nk wrote me a song" to what we heard today, very fast, without any announcement, without even a word on Celine's official social media channels. And I get the feeling that this isn't what the end result will sound like. I think it's a leaked demo. And as someone else posted in this conversation, the picture and the title look well.....not up to the usual standards.

 

I don't know....I'm more in shock about how quickly this came out of nowhere and how 'in-draft-format' the whole thing sounds and looks rather than anything else. The song itself, the melody, the lyrics and Celine's interpretation are of course absolutely wonderful. But the rest of it (how the full version of the song kind of sprung up from nowhere, the 'cover' that doesn't look up to any of her standards...) well it just doesn't feel right.

 

Something tells me this isn't supposed to be the end result.

 

Well to be honest, although the news of single release did came out of nowhere, it wasn't totally unexpected....

 

Normally they're always very hush hush about new songs for a new album, so when Céline was first letting the media know about Pink writing her a song, I had a feeling something was up.... With the album so far away, she could've easily kept this a secret until close to the album release. BUT....IMO she was intentionally giving us a clue. It was more of a short term "when". And when it was announced she would perform at the 'Stand Up To Cancer' benefit show, it was 1+1. Then I read somewhere it would a "very special performance", it went to 1+1+1. Oh and then she "suddenly" recorded that song in between her shows in Québec...hmmm. Why not wait till Vegas? 1+1+1+1. So....in the end, it was there all along..

 

Also, if they would be releasing this song next year, they would in a way miss the boat, as it's a very current theme for her.

Thanks for the links to this song! I am flabbergasted at this unexpected release. I like it myself; I felt the tears well up as it went on and it was almost less about the lyrics than the sound of her voice. There is so much depth there. No, there are no vocal fireworks or watch that note (!) here, but this is one of the reasons that I am really responding to it. I wasn't fond of the rough edge to Celine's voice on the last album, but the touch of it here feels really authentic to me. Yeah I don't get the "hold it against her, at least til forever." What are you trying to tell me Celine! And tell Who she loves him, the devil? or the her? Maybe these lyrics are just to deep for my little brain and I can only digest "I'm the one who wants to love you more" lol!

Well in the first verse she says 'I am recovering....' then in the second verse she switches to 'I am A recovering.....' So in the second verse, these are things she is admitting to, I could be totally wrong? So that's why I don't understand the line 'hold it against her' unless she's bad at holding grudges?

The devil, I take it as the addiction or sickness in Rene's case????

 

One little note though is her pronunciation of the word "off" to me she is saying "of". Unless she is trying to tell us the devil is shaking????
