"Celine" The Revamped Show

So I just got and took the thank you survey. In addition to the questions about the show and new album they asked about what kinds of lifestyle things we'd like to see her involved in. This included fashion, children's, cars, banking, etc. I found some options quite funny. So they must be serious about moving forward in this way. Wish I could remember all of them. Her own shoe line was not an option so I didn't vote for anything and wrote in in the other category. Just couldn't really picture her doing any of the listed options.

A bit frightening . . I really don't want Celine's career to be focus-grouped like this. They've always done a bit of chasing the trends on her English albums, but this is a bit much.

And the lifestyle stuff -- ugh, wasn't the perfume enough??

Banking??? For real? I love Celine, but, seriously, she is basically last person I would associate with banking. Celine, who's said a million times that she's not good at math, doesn't care about numbers, Rene handles all the business . . .and didn't she tell Julie Snyder she didn't remember her ATM PIN and was planning to sing to prove her identity? She's adorable, but, if I were running a bank, not exactly who I'd want to be my spokesperson. It feels like using her, in a way, to try to associate her with everything. I don't like it.

Yes I agree a bit scary. Feels like something for has been singers. I'm sorry! I just want her to sing and don't think she needs anything lifestyle brand. Shoes maybe, just for fun because she loves them. I just remembered another option was technology! I was laughing so much at that too because she says all the time she isn't into it. Banking was for real on the list. As well as casinos and we'll she's already associated with CP. Fitness or exercise was another choice.

It's crazy to me, I'm so confused how the media LOVES Celine's version of "Hello" but the general public for the most part don't?

I've never seen this before with Celine, usually the media is tough as nails on Celine when she deserves credit. "You Shook Me All Night Long" comes to mind they murdered Celine over it because it was too cool for her or too rock? But they love this because it's a power ballad?

I just hope that Celine's team return to her roots for the next English album, no grain or grit vocals we want PURE crystal vocals with some great power ballads!

I don't know if I'm convinced. Part of me thinks it's because the media don't dare to put her down when she is compared to Adele. If it was someone less known, they probably wouldn't have given that much praise.

I believe the survey was asking what do you associate her with or something to that effect (I cannot remember the exact wording). Since they were allowing for audience types, it would let them see what more dedicated fans, who would likely be more familiar with interviews, associate her with vs a casual fan that may not have preconceived notions yet was clearly willing to spend money on something associated with her already (I.e the show).

It actually seemed like a good way to gage interest levels and how it relates to her image. And the results could be used in a variety of ways, and actually be a good sample population given the ranges of people that go to her show.

All public personas, celebrities, etc., have a marketing score (I think it is called a Q score, but I can't remember right now if that is correct). It's a brand score. That is based on market testing and reactions. Meaning it is unlikely this is a one of a kind thing for her career, and she certainly isn't the only one.

Ha, I didn't get the impression they were actually looking for tips on how to handle her business ventures I think it was just a way to allow for additional data and get quick feedback. I really didn't see it as a negative.

Celine version is actually brilliant. She is often blamed to too much copy cat original versions but here she really transforms the phrasing and meaning with her stake of the verse. Adele's is like a dramatic prayer (the pace is slow, the key is low) whereas Celine's is flowing (the pace is quicker, the key higher) like someone of 40+ year old who has seen things and quietly look back, just like the lyrics say: "was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet". Adele's version fits a passionate 25 year old whereas Celine's fits a heart-at-peace 47 year old.
Vocally the chorus is where the voice soars and where she shines : so effortless and smooth without screaming but a fluid take off and landing.
As for those who say she was flat or off key they must be deaf (or must have stayed petrified by the two flat notes of the AMA performance lol)
I am sure Adele (who is a Celine fan) would like it :-)
And love how humble and gracious Celine is: she loves singers, she loves songs. A 200 million albums seller who simply states she is a fan. A magnificent human being who sings with a big heart.

Once more she proved she can do something spontaniously ,sing for fun , jest like that, and do it good. The first time I watched it I thought she missed the melody but hey...she IS CELINE ..I played it once more and focused only on her voice. She is good. I was wrong.

I understand that it was just for "fun" but if only she had took time to learn the words and correct pronunciation... Lots of parts of the song have not much singing it's practically just talking. With her French accent she needs to practice more and be told whats wrong. I also find that when Celine is uncomfortable with a song she quickly turns to her nasal voice which i hate, we know shes capable of not sounding nasal at all. I dislike this performance, although im grateful for her that the media love it so much (surely i don't understand that one, but hey, lucky for her)

I hope its the last time she covers Adele...

I hope next time we hear abt Celine and Adele, that its because of a duet but a studio recorded one, not live cause Adele is killing ALL her live performances right now, they almost sound like the album version.

Sorry but not thrilled about the cover. To me she does try to copy Adele's way of speech and so it just doesn't work for me.

It just shows me that they/she can make quick changes to the set list and choose not to! Why not add HER songs???? I will never understand it!

I really makes me wonder if she just doesn't care about the fantastic material she has in her hands at her disposal............

I understand it's for fun and I guess as long as she's happy that's all that matters but still I don't get it.

Yes, I totally agree. She does way too many covers. With the wealth of songs that she has recorded over the years, I honestly feel that they should mostly pick from those songs from all the records/CDs that she's sung. And maybe the occasional cover, I guess they feel that probably attracts non-Celine fans?

That said, I do feel she did a wonderful interpretation of "Hello."

Celine would kill all her live performances if she'd just had 3 years off! But celine hasn't ever been away for that long!

I doubt celine had much time off in December either. Think she needs just a month or two off to rest her voice a bit. But don't think she'll be getting it.

I agree. Maybe Rene was just trying to keep her sane. We will never know but I think he was trying to find her "busy" work, so to speak.

Considering she thought "Skies Of L.A." was her first song about Los Angeles, I highly doubt she and her team have a firm grasp on what she's recorded in the past. (For those of you don't know, she recorded a song ironically titled "I Remember L.A." for her "The Colour Of My Love" album.)

We have to remember that the majority of people who attend her shows are not die-hards like, well, some of us, (I question the fandom of many here but that's for another day.) So for the most part, I don't think people who attend her shows want too many French songs, though I wish she'd do more as well. Again, I loved her cover of Adele but do think that spot could have, should have, been given to one of her lesser known songs.
