"Celine" The Revamped Show

has anyone else received an email from what appears to be from Team Celine that Thanks me for attending her show but also takes you to a survey to get feedback so they can get ideas as to how to continue to improve the show? Some of the questions asked me to rate each segment of the show and another question that stood out was what types of songs would I like to see Celine sing and what types of songs should she put in her next album.

While I'm glad the press picked this up in a big way, I really wish it wasn't over this performance. I don't have anything against it per se nor do I find it particularly memorable - but it's solid and I'm glad Celine's mixing it up a bit. I wish she wasn't so married to the set list and did random experiments like this more often. But too bad the media is all up in arms about this particular clip; I wish they could instead write about how she regularly slays an über-difficult Ella Fitzgerald classic!

In this article they say that the web doesn't like her performance...and even if her fans are trying to support her, people don't change their mind....

The articles, blogs and uploaders in general speak highly of the performance. Comments though are mostly negative and this is what matters IMO.

Comments that could be made by Adele's fan who were just happy to have the opportunity, who thinks that Adele is the greatest singer ever. They have a right to their opinion, one that i don't share.

Celine got a lot of recognition for her cover of ROLLING IN THE DEEP too. Maybe, for anyone who makes negative comments about her cover of HELLO, we should post the link to her vocally fabulous performance of RITD!

Precisely. Any news outlet or magazine with an ounce of smarts knows now is not the time to make any negative or derogatory comments about Celine considering what is going on with Rene. Furthermore, not saying this is what happened, but news outlets are paid off all the time to write praise (or keep quiet). They also know if they trash something, they could potentially be shut out from getting access to exclusives in the future. The reviews that weigh more and are typically more accurate come from "regular people". Some liked it. Some hated it. Some don't care one way or the other. However, for some to act like her performing "Hello" wasn't a big deal and isn't an indication of anything are, in my eyes, sorely mistaken and delusional by fandom.

Mariah a couple of years ago did terrible vocals at some Tv xtmas' special and now she sold out shows with Xmas shows

Please advise them to let go of certain songs and try more new and old material from her own repertoire. And minimize the amount of covers. As for the English album - big powerballads

Their idea of "her own repertoire" would probably end up being her studio covers of "When I Need You," "Alone" and "(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman."

I feel like it's inevitable (like rain, tax ) that there will be covers on the new English album (none of her English albums have been completely new material), BUT I would like the "covers" to be more like when she did "All By Myself," "River Deep," and "The Power of Love." These were more reinventions than covers. A lot of people think that she is the original singer for TPOL and ABM. Her version of "Alone" was a carbon copy of the original as was "Water and a Flame."

 

That said, I was more impressed by her last 3 French albums than I was by her last 3 English albums so...

I wish I could convey my immense dislike of Adele. I won't make this in to a "reasons I loathe Adele" topic because that would be off the point. However I will say OMG I loved Celine's cover of Hello, even though I know that puts me in the serious minority. What I will say, though, is I wish she would have chosen one of her own songs to bring out for a surprise instead of Hello. so many of her own songs deserved that place.

She was out of key several times in the stanza before the chorus. IMO, it was a mistake to sing Hello. It's currently the #1 song all over the world and nobody wants to hear it sung by Celine. Nobody can sing it like Adele.

 

Bad move. Adele and Celine share the same audience (mostly middle-aged females) and some of them may think Celine is trying to make money by singing it in her show. My advise: Celine! sing it at soundchecks, at home... but not in your show!

no, first Hello is a song i loathe , i do all that i can to avoid it., I loved Adele last album, but this album is not to my taste, I just accept it, because Celine wanted to do it. I'm sure she won't repeat it if she sees the reactions. I'm sorry for her that she can't have fun but i'm sure she could do something else to content herself. But it will be hurtful for her to see and read some comments.

and that's the thing ,she as a huge experience should have known by now that u don't choose a song to sing unless ur gonna add your feelings and add something new with it ,but not to sing anything ,I've always loved that about Celine in all the covers that she's done ,she adds her own signiture to the song ,but I discovered that when she try's to sing it exactly like the artist or playing it really safe that doesn't help ,I discovered that since right next to the right one ,I was expecting Celine to add something but she didn't ,and after that of course she did it in so many songs ,but in the old day I love all her covers ,she sings it even more than the singers themselves,like (wind beneath my wings,my way,memories,at last,all by myself ,it's all coming back to me ,the power of love and many more ) but since than I don't know what happened ,it's like she stick with artist way of singing so the song is a mess ,exactly like open arms ,I said it before and will say it again that maraiahs carys version is way better because she added something new to the song and made it her own ,and that's what I though when I heard that Celine will sing it but unfortunately it was a mess cause she was lazy to make it her own and change it all around but just sang it like the journey band ,so I think it's her choices now that sometimes are not perfect Edited January 3, 2016 at 02:09 AM by artistman2007

Why does either fan base have to be so mean/rude? Could we do any better? I for one could not sing that song as well as Celine did, even though some of you think she didn't do well at it. As lousy as some of you think she did, I for one know I could not do any better. So since I know I can't do any better, I for one try to be kind because in my opinion, if I couldn't do it any better I don't have a leg to stand on. I can say I didn't like it, but I don't want to be rude unless I know I could do it just as well...and it would sound horrible if I tried. It's probably just a one-off, she will most likely not do it again. I give her credit for trying, that's a risk I'd be shakin in my boots and would not try. She's gutsy and I happent o admire that. Although, I do agree, Another Year Has Gone By would have been a quadrillion times better and more to what I would have loved. But I stand by the performance, despite my detesting of Adele...and I stand with Celine for paying homage and respect and having fun. If we are allowed to, why can't she be? How come most of us wouldn't take slack for trying something like that, but she does? I know we hold her to a higher standard, but for those of you who think she missed her mark, she's allowed to come down every once in a while. I'm sure tonight she'll back to her non Adele-belting self! LOL

It's true. Aretha has screamed out of tune like a cat being tortured for about 40 years but she's a legend so I get torn to shreds whenever I point out how awful she sounds...

I think the only issue with this performance is the fact that the performance itself has taken off and exploded when in reality it was meant to be a very very small, tiny, miniscule, non-important, insignificant, random, fun thing that was supposed to be "just for fun" and THAT is what has been lost in all this by both the media, the fans on here, and the people responding on YouTube.

Easily over 2 Million views combined with the other versions. This is the only time that I wish a Celine video didn't go viral. Outside of this forum, many of the comments from Celine fans on Youtube also don't like it. Some are downright nasty and unwarranted which is what I was afraid it'll lead to. For the record, even though I don't agree with the song choice, I respect her decision to sing it but unfortunately, this has led to bad PR.
