Sometimes I wish the cameras were not allowed again, Celine just wanted to have fun and sing one of her current favorite songs, it was a little bonus song for NYE concert and it should've never seen the light of day besides live for the concert attendees and only them. It's not like she sang this for a TV appearance.' It's a shame, I'm torn about the cellphones/ cameras because I LOVE the selfies but hate when moments like these are captured and ridiculed.

People like to make nasty comments and put people down nowadays anyway, if Celine always need to consider what other may think and how many likes or dislikes she gets, she wouldn't live a happy life, especially when it is just a song that she sings in her concert. It would not think this song choice as big as like a career decision. I don't think many ppl would now hate her or not wanting to buy her album anymore just because of this song choice. Let it go~

She was out of key several times in the stanza before the chorus. IMO, it was a mistake to sing Hello. It's currently the #1 song all over the world and nobody wants to hear it sung by Celine. Nobody can sing it like Adele.

 

Bad move. Adele and Celine share the same audience (mostly middle-aged females) and some of them may think Celine is trying to make money by singing it in her show. My advise: Celine! sing it at soundchecks, at home... but not in your show!

Didn't Demi Lovato sing it the first week it was released? Everyone's singing it, not just Celine. The world will continue to spin and no-one will really give it a thought.

 

I love that she sang it. It's not as if she choose to sing it at an awards show or something. People always sing other people's songs- and they knew the crowd would love it in Vegas because it is so record-breakingly huge everywhere.

Outside of this forum, many of the comments from Celine fans on Youtube also don't like it. Some are downright nasty and unwarranted which is what I was afraid it'll lead to. For the record, even though I don't agree with the song choice, I respect her decision to sing it but unfortunately, this has led to bad PR.

Those who opted to spend New Year’s Eve with Celine Dion in Las Vegas got an extra-special treat from the legendary performer.

The 47-year-old Canadian singer made a unique adjustment to her setlist on Thursday when she broke into a surprise cover of Adele’s record-smashing hit single “Hello.”

“Just for fun, okay?” Dion told the audience at Caesars Palace as they cheered along to the song’s opening piano chords. Of course, “Hello” fit right into her oeuvre; Celine and Adele are probably the two most powerful belters we’ll get to hear in this lifetime.

Why does either fan base have to be so mean/rude? Could we do any better? I for one could not sing that song as well as Celine did, even though some of you think she didn't do well at it. As lousy as some of you think she did, I for one know I could not do any better. So since I know I can't do any better, I for one try to be kind because in my opinion, if I couldn't do it any better I don't have a leg to stand on. I can say I didn't like it, but I don't want to be rude unless I know I could do it just as well...and it would sound horrible if I tried. It's probably just a one-off, she will most likely not do it again. I give her credit for trying, that's a risk I'd be shakin in my boots and would not try. She's gutsy and I happent o admire that. Although, I do agree, Another Year Has Gone By would have been a quadrillion times better and more to what I would have loved. But I stand by the performance, despite my detesting of Adele...and I stand with Celine for paying homage and respect and having fun. If we are allowed to, why can't she be? How come most of us wouldn't take slack for trying something like that, but she does? I know we hold her to a higher standard, but for those of you who think she missed her mark, she's allowed to come down every once in a while. I'm sure tonight she'll back to her non Adele-belting self! LOL

A. to constantly sing praises around Adele the past 3 years

B. to record an album mimicing the voice of Adele

C. to cover 3 Adele songs already

 

It only makes sense that there are fans who are fed up with Celine going the Adele route.

Yes, I'd prefer Hello by Lionel as it's not the most overrated song of the past months and it's not on the top everywhere at the moment

I've never ever in my life saw something like that from a huge super star ,I mean it's lady gags who copied Madonna not the opposite ,have Madonna sang poker face for example or talked about her unless she's asked. The issue here isn't that she sang the song, as other people have pointed out, lots of artists are covering this song right now. The issue is that it wasn't a good performance. Her timing was off, it sounded awkward because of her English speaking accent, it was flat in parts, it sounded too high and a little nasal.

 

If she knocked it out of the park like she did with Rolling in the Deep, the comments wouldn't be as harsh as they are. It was just a bad attempt at a hot song right now. It comes across as desperate even though I'm sure that wasn't the intent.

 

She needed to nail it, for fun or not, because she's held to a higher standard, and this is another somewhat poor performance right behind the AMA performance. With Adele being so popular right now, if an icon is going to sing it, it needs to be spectacular. It just isn't the right song for celine's voice. Can you imagine Adele singing MHWGO? It wouldn't work for her voice.

I have a question. Did something happen to celine's hearing? Back in the day, she was touted by experts as having very sharp ears for notes. She never went off key in any performance. I had to ask because she sounded flat during hymn lamour and this one performance of hello. I really hope that it's just a result of lack of rehearsal and not because something is going on with her ears. I just feel bad when she gets torn apart in the comments on yt because of one single "random" performance.

Celine did many great things, the show with Bubble, the Sinatra , the AMA's(that not every one liked but the majority), her show in Vegas where she sings some great

 

songs what do we hear about , an awful Adele's song(because i find it awful) . It is just to show what the world is about, why be positive and happy when you can say nasty

If it wasn't for camera phones etc most of us wouldn't have known about it. Only the audience actually sat there. In a way, as it should be. Unless it's a tv broadcast or official release, then it's another matter.
