"Celine" The Revamped Show

I'd be terribly sad if Mr. Paganini and Quand ca balance were ever cut.

That being said, would absolutely love Le ballet to make it into the show - my top 5 fave Celine song ever. Or just more French songs in the show, period.

 

On a separate note, I was at a salon here in Manhattan earlier today and playing on their system was Celine en francais. Imagine that. In New York!

It's not a picture, it's a video on the iconosquare instagram website. It's probably a bunch of pages back on the instagram site by now, but if you go there you will find it under #celinedoin on the iconosquare website. It's kind of hard to find the video if you don't know what to look for. It shows a picture of a car door with a play button.

 

In the video Celine all glam with super Vegas style. She's wearing all grey with big gold hoop earrings and her outfit has a feather like look at the shoulders. She looks like the ultimate diva!

I think the show would be more interesting for big fans like most members of this forum are.

 

That's such a lovely idea for the hardcore fans. Hardcore fans probably only make up 10-15% of the yearly audience though. The other audience members would be going "Huh? What is this? I've never heard this song before in my life. Why doesn't she sing something that I've heard of before?" However, these same causal fans and vegas gamblers, who chose Celine as a show because "they like that titanic song", when they hear Over The Rainbow...cry. When Prince songs start, they think "Oh my god, I LOVE Prince!!!!", and so forth. They're just sitting there, waiting to her that glorious voice, rather than thinking "I soooooooooooooooooo wish she would sing Track 7 from her 3rd french album followed by Track 2 of her 7th English language album - oh my God, could have been a single. WHY SONY??? WHY??????"

Our best chance at random songs would have been the private Pandora event but unfortunately that concert will be remembered as nothing more than a missed opportunity.....

Yes unfortunately ..that is so true.

But then i would rather have her singing Alone with that 31 piece orchestra instead of a random.cover. And if she really really wants to do a Adele cover i would prefer Skyfall. Again a song so perfect because it uses her orchestra to its full potential and it is a classy song

I disagree about Adele (give Adele a break lol) but I had to "like" this post...

 

I agree about Alone though. Firstly, I love it in general, it's one of the best songs from TC for me, but secondly, and what's more important, it'd make sense. Why? It was a single, it was amazingly performed during the tour, it'd blossom even more with full orchestra, it's quite recent AND it's HER cover and that's what I've been always saying: She has SO many covers in her catalogue but which became HER songs (same goes for TPOL, ABM, IDAN or even RDMH), so if they do want to do covers, do those which she has recorded. And it's not that, some of you may say, Lullaby or Overjoyed or At seventeen are also hers because she recorded them for an album but it was posterior the performance and it's not that someone will associate these songs with Celine in general. They'll always remain "pure" covers.

 

It's also different that she's done Hello or A Song For You or Can't Help Falling In Love for one special occasion. That's what we could call special. But incorporating totally random covers is a mistake. No matter how great they shound or how she enjoys them or how people like it. Let's stop talking about Hello, but, of course, everybody would say that Can't Help Falling In Love was extraordinary and she blew it away but that's not the point when you have 35+ years career and hundreds of original songs.

 

Thus, Alone is a perfect choice for the show. Bring it on!
