Its so disappointing not to see her especially when you plan those kind of big trip once every 9-10 years.

 

Don't get me wrong obviously I understand, she had to cancelled im not stupid, but damn it sucks when you're a huge fan for 20yrs and a show is cancelled and you have to go to vegas anyway or you loose all your money. I hate vegas, came here just for her.

 

Also -- a few years ago, I flew to Vegas and Celine canceled. It was very disappointing but luckily I bought a ticket to see Mystere and it was so lovely. It was a refreshing and very enjoyable experience and helped me be less upset about the cancellation. The show has lots of humor and beautiful spectacle, similar to the early version of A NEW DAY. Very true to Dragone's style.

When I was there for the debut of the revamped version of "Céline" in August, I saw Cirque du Soleil "O" and it was fantastic!

O and Mystere are definitely on my list of shows to see. Any Cirque show would be amazing, I'd imagine. Didn't have the time in August but saw Ka when I was there a couple years ago. It was spectacular.

Assuming she comes back on the 23rd of February, I wonder what type of tribute(s) she will do for Rene and/or Daniel. If done right, I would get rid of the "I Drove All Night" fan video and open the show with a tribute video montage. Not in a depressing way. No. More like the concept of the "Celebration Of Life" ceremony on February 3rd. As for which song to accompany it? I wouldn't want to make that call. That would be best left to Celine and the rest of Rene's/Daniel's family. I'm not even going to speculate or make recommendations for that part.

I think The Show Must Go On would be a fitting opening now. For all we know doing the show may help her it gives her that hour and a half to be who she use to be just Celine the singer and nothing more. People handle grief differently she may cry on stage and have a hard time or she could come back and say this is my life now I can make it the best it can be or I can dwell on it.

Watch the periscope video. She talks to the audience and makes a joke about how she likes the microphone better and how she can't possibly walk around the entire coliseum with a corded mic. It happens while she walks on stage from finishing immortality to getting ready for the acoustic set while she talks and introduces that set.

Is it just me or does she seem to calm down her hand movements when she has the wired mic? Don't get me wrong I love the chest bumps and how she performs but she seems more relaxed with a wired mic.

I just bought me and my mom tickets fo the 23rd. Whether or not celine goes thru with this I honestly don't care. But if she does, I want to be there and I know I will be now.

 

I was like 5 drinks in when I wrote this and (probably 3 when i bought the tickets lol) and oh my, it almost sounds a little rude lol, let me restate the part where I say "I honestly don't care if she goes thru with it" what I mean to say is whatever decision celine makes, I will be happy with. If that is being on stage, then I am happy to be there. If it's extra time away from showbusiness, then she deserves that time. I will support celine either way.

Many of us have been there...I've had her cancel Vegas one for vocal reasons and then Japan last year..

I had everything prebooked and all was unrefundable. This time for Quebec I'm not booking air and hotel until late spring.

 

We feel your pain. Trust me. While we understand what's going on and why things were cancelled, we can't help but feel disappointed for not getting that one of a kind experience.

"Vole" was for Karine. She's not going to recycle it.

"L'amour existe encore " is about having that love in your life despite all the bad in the world. It doesn't work.

I'm also waiting to book my trip to Paris, I guess we will know more in February. Rene's health was also one of the reasons I hadn't planned anything for Vegas, it was too risky.

I agree, these songs just wouldn't work as a tribute to René.

 

Personally, I would like to see 'Ce n'était qu'un rêve' performed in Vegas. It represents where it all started and how both Celine & René achieved it all together over the last 35 years. Also, it's not a sad or depressing song.

 

Other possible additions I would like to see are:

 

- Live For The One I Love (I always thought this would be a great opening for the show, with the curtain drop on the final 'liiiiiive'. I worry that I Surrender is too dark, certainly now that René is gone)

- The Colour of My Love

- I Know What Love Is

- Let's Talk About Love

- In Some Small Way

I highly doubt they would be investing in an all-new show. They pretty much did that already in August, where they changed far more than the 30-40% they were planning to earlier in the year. The show in its current form has only been performed for the last 4 months, it's way too soon to change everything again. Plus, they clearly invested in a lot of things that were eventually cut due to timing issues, notably the CGI holograms of Elvis and Sinatra.

S'il suffsait D'aimer would be an amazing tribute to times past, I think. It's not too personal but it wraps up what it needs to, I think. I loved the stripped down piano version she did in July 2014... So I think it *might* be a good choice.

Well I would love to have any new addition to the show setlist, whether it's one song or more, from her back catalogue. But for it to be picked by Celine herself. Because she wants to sing it. And the only way that's gonna happen (have a tiny chance of happening lol) is if Celine listens to her albums. Over the next few years, any shows she does, I want her to pick the songs. Do what she wants to do. If only 😊

So many of the songs I've listened to over that last few days have been incredibly hard for me to even LISTEN to, I can't imagine how she'll ever be able to SING them. I know she's a strong person, and she has the love of her family, but most of her songs are just so personal and seem to speak directly to her love for Rene. I truthfully think the meaning behind the lyrics of Immortality are so powerful that it might be the reason that she chose to walk down the aisle while she sings it during the show. It gives her a distraction with the audience interaction instead of simply standing there concentrating on the emotions behind the words.

The most likely change to me would be adding in songs recently performed. I could see I drove all night replacing the first time ever I saw your face (but moving to a different point in the show obviously)... Idk why but I see that being likely. I could even see something from 2011 show coming back (ugh) to replace something emotionally heavy

Unless she wants to jump back into rehearsals to help her cope, and to keep herself busy, I don't think we will see additions to the show until the summer run. If she comes back in February and March, I imagine just getting through the shows would be hard enough, so she may want to make it easy on herself. Again, it all depends on what she and Rene discussed, and how she feels, and what she feels she needs to do for her own grieving process and to support her children. People all grieve differently, so I think only time will tell.

 

If she goes the "make it easy on herself" to ease back in to performing, I could see the show being shortened significantly. The latest full bootleg that we have is from November 11 and it clocks in at 1 hour and 42 min. I could see songs/segments being cut to get the show down to an hour 20 or an hour 30... Setlist could be shortened to:

Yeah, maybe the solo version of "All The Way"... although I can't imagine how difficult it will be for her to sing that... or "My Way." We know how much Rene loved Frank Sinatra.

 

This is a longshot, but the song she did from the "La guerre des tuques" movie randomly came on my iTunes yesterday when it was on shuffle... "L'hymne." That might be an interesting song for her to use for a tribute - not necessarily in Vegas - but during the mini-tour if she goes through with it this summer.

The only change I can really see happening, especially if she wants to pay tribute to Rene, is they may take out Quand Ca Balance and put in the new JJG single. I thought that initially when the single was first announced before his passing. Now, if she really wants something personal I can see that as an option.

 

I'd love to know more about the February 3rd event also. Maybe after Rene and Daniel's funerals. I'd also assume if she does this she would continue on with shows at the end of the month. I guess we'll see. They'll definitely be very emotional.

What I am seeing right now is that Celine will be more focus in work now more than ever because she needs something to keep her from being sad and as long as she is onstage and she's still doing it, it's like she's still with him, fulfilling both of their dreams and their love story goes on while she's on stage. He will always be with her no matter what for they are together in this beautiful endearing love story that the world has known which is timeless, like most of her songs.
