I honestly no longer care about this music video. Their logic behind holding it back makes no sense whatsover and all this waiting is just tiring. Edited by ryba

I'd rather she be off the charts and be herself, than forcibly trying to get there by being something she's not.

And that's what some of this new album sounds like to me... just not buying it. Some great stuff, yes. But some really lacks authenticity.

Who are you to say that she is being something she is not? She is doing exactly what she wants for the first time in her whole career! I don't think she has gone too far away from her past works anyway...

All I'm saying is I don't buy it... some of it is not convincing at all. C'est tout.

Like I said in another thread, try as I may to like them, some of the songs on this record continue to sound like a parody to me. Whether intentional or not, such is the impression. I respect the risk-taking, but I'm also not afraid to say when I think she's trying stuff she's not particularly good at.

And no, I don't think she has gone too far away from her past work. And believe me, I would completely applaud if she had an it worked. But in this case, for some of this material and for me at least, it just doesn't.

One of my other favourite artists does everything from punk to classical, and pretty much every genre in between. Sometimes it works, sometimes it stinks, and when it does I don't feel obliged to pretend otherwise. I still admire him for trying and think that is exactly what a real artist should be about.

So, while everything has already been said, just a few comments of my own:

1) Finally heard Ma Force and A vous on Vevo and I'm glad I did not buy the Lux edition. Don't care for these two AT ALL

2) Although a die hard fan since 1985 (hence my usermame) and before a lot of you were even born, I almost didn't buy this album because of some of the negative reviews when it came out. Redheads anyone???My thoughts after listening to it many time: "WHAT THE HECK DO YOU EXPECT FROM CELINE?" She's been doing this forever and still manages to put out a way decent record.

3) For those who are saying she's trying to hard on the uptempo songs, I don't agree. Her uptempo songs on this album are so good and am prefering them to her ballads (other than EUS which I have grown to love and mostly because of Goldman's masterful lyrics - I love the way her last phrases are in slow motion as if to try "stretch" them like "stretching" time...). I could only wish that her English albums were half as good as her French ones. LMBTL was a disaster in my opinion save 2 or 3 tracks

4) On EUS, I could do without Pqu'A (snorefest and horrible way to open the record). I also think Orinaire does not fit the concept and I would have included as the last song because of this. Finally, while A la plus haute branche is brillianty sung and has a sweet melody, what a morbid subject and a sad way to close the album. She already lost her husband for Heaven's Sake...

This is the album to me: Classy, elegant, perfectly produced (Like Humberto uses to do) and more modern than any of her recent albums ...

Neeeding a little more : Concept, honesty, and soul...

10/10

L'etoile, Encore un soir

9/10

Ma faille , Ordinaire, Tu sauras, La bonheur en face

8/10

Ma force, A vous, Les yeux au ciel, Plus qu'ailleurs (oh yeah, this one got me!)

7/10

Tout ces choses, Je nous veux (coud have been better)

The rest of the songs it is lije they have never existed, I just can't remeber anything about them. THV should have been re recorder and not just remastered. The deluxe package is filled with garbage (useless bracelets and notepad).

I feel happy she tried to evolve as an artist and put herself out of her comfort zone.

I need someone to loves m like Celine loved René... And just like she sang in LTAL track # 16, I ask for that exact same thing

I received my Encore un soir album 4 days ago and after listening to all the songs multiple times I am ready to give my feedback.

My favorite songs, not in any particular order are:

Ma Faille I love how different and cool Celine's voice sounds in this song. It's almost oriental sounding in a way. I just love it! :-D One of my favorites to have on repeat.

Encore un soir Celine's voice sounds rich, vulnerable and innocent in this song. It's a pretty melody and a touching tribute from JJG to Celine and Rene! :)

Les Yeux Au Ciel I love the many different rhythms in this song. It's very catchy and addictive!

Si cetait a refaire This song in particular is so touching and sad, yet so beautiful at the same time. Celine puts so much emotion into it. Even though I do not speak the language of French, I can feel the power and emotion in this song. It makes me cry. It is one of my top favorites on the album for sure!

Ordinaire I love the dramatic flare in this song. Celine puts so much passion into it. I love when she sings full out like this, with dramatic music playing behind her! :-D It's a song that has grown on me more and more each time I listen to it. :)

A la plus haute branche This is a gorgeous song. Celine's voice is so soft and airy. Just beautiful! I love the whistling at the biginning aswell.

A vous  Favorite song. It's so catchy. I love the beat so much. I think I have listened to this song in particular the most. I just love it! :-D

Trois heures vingt Of course I cannott go without mentioning this song in my favorites list. It is so sweet and touching that Celine included this song from Rene's funeral onto the album as one last tribute to Rene and to there love story!

I have to say that in my opinion, this is Celine's best French album since D'elles. Her voice is so pure, clear and rich throughout the entire album. It's her least raspy, nasal sounding album in years. I think it's perfection! :giggle: It doesn't sound rushed, like some of her other albums have sounded before. The quality and beauty of her voice shines in each and every song. :-D

It's so hard to pick a favorite song on this album. I have about 6 favorites, that's how good it is. I can't get enough. It's a masterpiece of pure vocal craftsmanship. Rene would be so proud! :)

I think a lot of people who had 'forgotten' Celine are suddenly rediscovering her. The amount of media interest in her at the start of this year was pretty crazy, and the fact of what the attention was about clearly touched a lot of people.

Even here in the UK, the number of people who probably had never even heard of Rene have weirdly told me all about him and Celine's brother dying, as if I hadn't quite noticed myself and when I mentioned to anyone that I was going to see her pretty much everyone started their response with 'ahh, poor Celine'. She has never been as popular as she is now.

Now my final review. I received my deluxe album last friday and been playing the album ever since.

First the package; it looks like a chique box with a parfume inside. Opening it there is a notebook which is in the same style but not needed and this little bag with ribbons inside. No bracelets! These are no bracelets, these are ribbons that i use to bind my christmas decorations in the tree! Totally not needed. So, well, and then there is the cardboard album. Again cardboard..better for the environment okay, get that, but easy to damage. Guess that is why this deluxe box was needed;) beautiful graphic design though!

The Album. Love it. There are only a few tracks that i like less then the rest of the album:

1. Plus ou' auilleurs

It is quite slow and it has this summereveningvibe at a almost deserted beach. That is what i picture it in my mind.

Would have put this song somewhere in the middle. Not a good openingsong. 7/10

2. L'E Toille

Love love this song. So current, so fresh. One of my favorites! 10/10

3. Ma Faille

The melody sounds familiar yet fresh. Another current song. It is a great ballad but 2016 style, so a good potential hitsong. I like it but like some other songs more. Therefor ..9/10

4. Encore un Soir

Loved this song from the beginning but the song as we heard it first, the radio edit was way better. You guys like that the song is longer. But the meaning in the song and her adlibs ended abrupt and that worked so good.

In the longer version her adlibs have been spreaded along the longer end and there is no extra power in them. It looks like her adlibs were copy and pasted along the last chords. That sounds like it has been smeared out. And that is not the only difference. The mix is different too. Bassline is different, strings are less noticible. Overall i wished it was the shorter radio edit. Even though on tour the longer version made more impact because both Celine and the orchestra builded it up in the end of the song.

Radio edit 10/10 album version 8.5/10

5. Je Nous Veux

Okay song. Sounds like a Eurovision song that hasn't the chance to win. The melody is quite predictable and not current. Fillertrack in my opinion. And translated it comes down to a repetitive - i want us to be happy and my loved ones around the table. I understand the meaning but it is too repetitive about that table.. 6/10

6. Les yeux au Ciel

Wow what a great song. Lyrics are great and meaningful. I see her talking with RC and watching the sky with each other.

And what a current melody and rhytm. I guarantee this is def a hitsong! 10/10

7 Si C' Etait À Refaire

Again a track that is not current.

The lyrics are gorgeous and beautiful, emotional. But this song i will probably skip. It is also because it is soo heavy. I like the uplifting songs so much more. 6/10

8. Ordinaire

I never liked the song. Only on tour it did work for me and she was totally in it. It is epic and big, a vocal and orchestral war and It builds up and explodes. This studioversion is not bad though, the emotion she has put in it is good. But It is like her Jaques Brelle song, that i did not like either. It's too much for me. Therefor 6/10

9. Tu Sauras

Wow this is again such a current sound that could even attract this generation. Catchy beat! 9/10

10. Toutes Ces Choses

This is a petit beautiful ballad with such emotional vocals and meaningful lyrics. About missing Rene and going on. This song gives me tears each time. It is so beautiful and precious. 10/10

11. Le Bonheur En Face

Reminds me also a lot of I Believe with Il Divo.

Really like this one too. 8/10

12. À La Plus Haute Branche

Beautiful gorgeous song for a loved one that passed away. It is so angelic and the lyrics together with the guitar and recorder bring me in tears again. 10/10

13. À Vous

Let's get Loud ala Celine 2016.

It is uplifting and even my Celine hating friend loved it haha. He also liked the other current tracks L'Etoille les Yeux Au Ciel!

He usually despises her but was swinging on A Vous in the kitchen! He said wow she really goes another way. Summersongs! 8/10

14. Ma Force

Celine shows she can sing each style. Now country and she does it again! It sounds like some familiar countrysong to me but very catchy and love it! 10/10

15 Trois Heures Vingt

Got my throat choking when i heard it at the funeralservice and will never forget those images again. Turned out i already had this song on a French best of album that i bought years ago.

This is the remastered version. Sounds like as it was in the church. Crystalclear and still beautiful. Wouldn't have put it on this album but i understand she did it. For her fans but mostly for and to honor René. 10/10

All in all. Great album. Masterpiece.

Great next single would be either L'E toille or Les Yeux au Ciel or Tu sauras.

I wish Céline's team would take a class or two at the Beyoncé school of business, and take some calculated risks for the release/promo of the new English album.

Oh really?

Let me doubt about it.

I'd love to come on this board in 6 months when Céline releases her english album out of the blue without any TV show promos or whatsoever ( because that's Beyonce's promo = no promo ) , without any airplay or media attention.

Céline's team is "old school" and so are her fans. Come on'...her fans already complain because she's doing interviews without mentioning the album.

I don't understand why everyone is so up in arms about this EUS video, or lack thereof as the case may be.

It's not like her videos are generally anything worth writing home about, with few notable exceptions (I'm looking at you, IACBTMN!)

But for the most part, it's pretty dire "acting" and melodramatic close-ups. And judging by the brief clip of this EUS video, we're probably getting more of the same. And if that's the case, I don't think it'll be of much help. The only audience watching it would be the already-converted faithful fans. If they actually want it to appeal to a broader audience, they'd need to do something truly memorable and creative. Otherwise you're just preaching to the choir.

I for one think the EUS lyric video is perfectly sufficient.

Every weekend before we go out for drinks, we have a few in the house and play music videos, this is where I get to showcase Céline songs to my friends. No one will pay attention to the song without a video but when there is they'll commentate on her look, the song etc.. I've tried playing the lyric video but no one paid attention. I've been playing the song around them for so long now that when the video comes out they'll just think it's one of her old ones. Video needs to come out at the same time as the single!!

Yes it does not make any sense releasing it now. It is too late..again. And if it wasn't rushed a good video could have been prepared. She can even hire Steven Spielberg or any big filmproducer with her budget and make a really gorgeous video that wows!

Hi friends,

I don't know about you but I enjoy having the lyrics along with the translations to sing go over when I first start listening to a french album. I created a translation booklet and thought I would share with my fav Céline friends (aka all of you!). I am not fluent in French so the translations are my interpretation and may not be 100% accurate but they should give you the general idea.

Listening to this album with the translations really brings it to a whole other level. The album is so incredibly personal and really does paint a picture of what Céline and her family have gone through and felt in the last few years. This album is so moving and intimate.

I would prefer if people did NOT share this booklet with other websites or fan groups- if you do want to share please reach out to me and get my permission first. Thank you!!!

(Also, looking through the booklet the genius of JJG is so painfully obvious.... wish he had written more for this album :( )

Thank you so much for the translation. And I completely agree, JJG's lyrics is like a 4 minute concentrated movie of Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Before Midnight and Amour...

12. À La Plus Haute Branche

Beautiful gorgeous song for a loved one that passed away. It is so angelic and the lyrics together with the guitar and recorder bring me in tears again. 10/10

This song talks about suicide not "a person passing away"; Celine sings about seeing a person hung on the highest tree branch (just fyi)

I think Georges suffocated Anne out of 'love' because she intended to end her own life when she was capable, and he finally was ready to let her go.

Anyway, the point is what described in the lyrics is not necessarily Celine's life, I was merely referring to this sentence from my understanding of the english translation: Comme on perd un peu le Nord au milieu de trop vastes espaces; À peine le temps de s'y faire, à peine on doit laisser la place

You have to understand that without this video... there's not that much to complain about now. ..

So people are complaining because the video is still unreleased. .. so that they can complain even more once it's out because it sucks.

Geez. The same pointless arguments "that we don't need a video because videos are not needed". We have talked about it so many times. A music video is very relevant and needed as far as song promotion is concerned. Look at Shakira's videos which have more than 100 MILLIONS of views.... Of course, Celine's videos are not revelatory nor creative BUT it could have been changed with this one.

The main issue here is that we don't have any video in a looooooooooooooooong period of time and then we get one which, I agree, won't help at all. Had it been released in June, it would have made a difference cause they would use it for promotion of the tour as well... And we have the same situation like with Incredible. Thus, it's no surprising that one complains about a video because, I'll repeat myself, it is delayed for over 3 months AND it's mediocre after such a looooooong time in production. The situation would be different if this long time before a release would equal the greatness of the video.

Videos are important, especially now that in many countries streaming is taken into consideration for chart positions.

Look a PAMP, a moderate hit but it's Céline's most watched french video! More views than EUS (audio) which is a big hit.
